So what happens to service? Are we going to have to have vehicles towed from Baton Rouge to Houston or New Orleans for work that can’t be done in our driveways? That’s where small local dealerships fit in - a little sales and a service department for the community. When that goes we will feel the pinch, especially as independent shops can no longer fix computerized cars without a 10-30K investment for specialty computers.

Even if you work them hard and get invoice pricing or even can get them to give you holdback and you basically get it for what a employee cost is ( usually 10%) the high prices add 4800 in tax plus plate and title and say a small doc fee of 200 your back to adding 5300 onto the 10 they just gave you off a 79k truck… then even if you put 20k down your financing 53-55,000 @ 7,8,9% so there’s another 13-15000 in interest over 60months your still at 935 for 60 months!!!! It’s over even if rates were 2% these vehicles are too expensive…. Back in the 90’s a 80k vehicle was a German car or high end ride… no one can justify 1000 a month for 60 months or worse 72/84, ugh can you imagine making 84 monthly payments of 950-1200 a month ????

The biggest problem with the car market right now is that the costs for energy and the cost for groceries is too high. The higher prices for electricity, fuel, and groceries is robbing entire car payment types of amounts of money out of people’s pockets, that they were keeping and could use to pay for a vehicle before prices went up tri-fold on pretty much everything. Interest rates, inflation, and record high labor costs, particularly in the auto industry are choking people financially. Now look what’s going on. The UAW had their way and got these record contracts, now the auto industries are taking their manufacturing out of the US.

They are looking to deliver the new vehicles to the customer directly, and the customer will be stuck with the new garbage, with no repair places. Over priced, piss poor build quality, recalls, no bang for the buck anymore, ignore the customer and their needs, cut out entry level affordable vehicles, concentrate on higher end fully loaded models. Either dealers will get real desperate to the point they literally give the car away, automakers close down, or they get a bale out.

Economically, the "automotive sector" is a CASH SINK, and has been made much worse by shareholder GREED. (And CEOs making huge bonuses on quarter-to-quarter performance, instead of five-year-plan performance). The ENTIRE ICE INDUSTRY will collapse as cars enter the "refrigerator" model. All those stories you hear of Teslas never needing maintenance? Well, when's the last time you did maintenance of your fridge? Or your dishwasher? For MOST people, that is NEVER (even though BOTH have "recommended" maintenance). YES, you CAN build a BEV that needs as much maintenance as a dishwasher or refrigerator. BUT ... the industry CANNOT EXTRACT the amount of money from people in a capitalist, "free market" system that the shareholders expect. The 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs? The MASSIVE disinformation campaigns? The poor-performing EV chargers (non-Tesla you will notice, Superchargers are incredibly reliable? Ever notice that?). Big Oil and Big Auto are fighting hard and DIRTY to prevent EVs - but it is already too late. In twenty years, people will look back at the "ICE ERA" and go - WOW, WERE WE EVER SCREWED OVER! It's ALREADY HAPPENING in Norway. "Adam Smith" always wins, the Luddites ALWAYS lose.
