Somebody who doesn't even want to do the job but is forced to as others see a quality in them which would be beneficial would be a much better candidate, unfortunately things will never work like that.

Mick is a working class hero. He knows *exactly* how things work, but even better, he knows *exactly* how to express the issues in clear and precise, down to Earth sentences. That's a super-power in politics nowadays. Political parties always serve the system that a nation is in. No matter if they're leftist or right-wing, capitalism comes first, and while that has worked for a short while in the 60's, it certainly has not worked for over half a century now. Leftist parties like Labour do have the intention to fight for the working class, but when those fights have to happen within preset boundaries, not on neutral ground but in a capitalist arena, those battle have been fixed in a major way before they even start. Like said, Mick is a hero, but he has to fight within that capitalist arena and so even in a fantasy scenario where he and his workers achieve all their goals, those results will still be a tiny adjustment on a massive predatory system that *will* continue to screw us over with increasing intensity. We need to overhaul Capitalism completely, so that it works for the masses instead of just a tiny percentage on top and Worker-coops are a proven path to get there. We need to install governments who are in favor of worker-coops, where the workers own the company and decide what to do with the profits and whether the well paid CEO gets to keep his job or not. Should've made Corben PM.

@@ryanfraser167 If someone is earning ten times the average wage they should be taxed to the max. They will still be a whole lot richer than they will ever need to be. That includes. footballers by the way.

@@mrdeafa25 taxed to the max? Sounds like you just want the law to legalise theft cause your jealous of how much other ppl earn, try bettering yourself...no skilled professional or accomplished corporate leader or footballer would want to reside in what you envision, they flee Venezuela and Cuba for a reason...ure ideas would destroy economic and cultural life as anyone understands it.

Mick didn’t go to Eton or Oxbridge but he pisses over every single one of those Tory tosspots. He is a very impressive individual and puts Starmer to shame. This man should be in Parliament, where he could have even more of a say and hold this “government” to account.

I take issue with the word 'earning' for people who are paid in gross monumental excess.

We need people like Mick Lynch now more than ever. He talks sense and is clever enough to push back against the journalists who say working class people are greedy wanting money to pay basic food and heating bills. Whilst they argue that banker's should get huge bonuses unchallenged. Then allow the money to filter down. It's been proven that working class people spend when we have money whilst more affluent people save their money. So no filtering down and no help for the economy

In EU legislation which the UK is still under, the Tory Gov't has the power to place emergency price caps on energy companies. France has done this against EDF, why can't the Tories do this too?
@snafufubar2 жыл бұрын
Why? You can't expect an MP who will one day be an ex MP vote for price caps. If they do that where will they get cushy £200k a year 4 days a month directorships from? Got to keep their paymasters happy so they can ride the gravy train. Snouts in the trough.

You tell 'em Mick! As a plumber, I was a Union apprentice here in America and saw the same going on here in the mid eighties and got runout for it. And that is as much the fault of our national union leadership as any one else's. FR

This bloke has both common sense and good judgement. Rather surprisingly he is also someone who cares. If he were to run for power he would be shredded by the media.

By the right wing media, just like every Labour politican has been, however he is not aloof of the people he would represent, unlike Starmer (and of course by the entire tory party)
