I think the most important factor that some of the cgi look bad is the final compositing, where the artists add to much filters and post processing. In real world light interacts with each material in a different way and illuminate the surroundings that's how we saw the world. Most of the final composting in films has missing of the natural tone of the real environment and artist can't determine how the light should be composite with the cgi models. But those who done all these with practical efforts knows this. But this is also the challenge that we have to think a lot how the practical demo be done. And it will also require money to built all that which cause budget issues. But I really like how Michael bay used his imgination to create the transformers series. His all films are still peak in cgi.

can u talk about composting ... thank you very much for amazing vids

awesome, what exactly would you like to know about it

Okay, so you talked about why cgi looks bad and you said how to improve ur renders, but I think what makes cgi great is the compositor Because the most 3d artist doesn't know how to composite their shot That's why they might think that their renders sucks some times So lastly you can't keep relaying only on 3d renders. You need to know some skills on photoshop or aftereffects or nuke... And since you are making good videos with value and have great why to present it I hope you tell us more about this subject thank you very much and I fully support you

In the thumbnail you're comparing a movie and a show.

great point, for anyone who might be confused, the video has 3 different thumbnails and youtube chooses randomly what it shows you, so this comment might be confusing depending on the thumbnail you see
