Look at the clues man. 1. Poch tried to suggest to the board they made a 200mill mistake buy purchasing two midfielders that cannot work together. He swiftly lost his job. So safe to say those two players start and they should. 2. Why is the club still searching for a LW? it's because sterling will play on the RW and he should. He looked class on that side at the beginning of the season. KDH is backup to palmer as an attacking 8 on the left. We have 70 games to play next season. 3. Why did the club buy rennato veiga. To solve our set piece issue. Our team is too short. I think cucurella will start and invert but for some matches veiga will play for the height. Enzo and the inverting left back will play as the 6 and cole palmer and caicedo will play as the attacking 8s. That's what I think, but I don't rule out a formation change. Estaveo willian is scheduled to play as 10 when he comes......

Kdh and carney will rotate for the left attacking 8 position with lavia and Enzo rotating for the 6 conductor role and caicedo and gallagher or Santos rotating for the right defensive 8 role

Santos will go on LOAN. But it will be really painful if Palmer is Pushed to the wing because of the KDH signing. The BEST of Palmer comes through the middle, and even tho Palmer can play the wing and do a decent job, PALMER IS NOT A WINGER! Limiting the SKILL SET of Chelsea's best player (Palmer) to accommodate a championship player in KDH could be Maresca and Chelsea's undoing this coming season!

@@Jayjaybills5030 I agree with you that Palmer is not a winger, he's better as a 10/8. We will see what Enzo will decide with Gallagher and Santos in pre season Maresca will play a 343/352 formation with Chukwumueka/KDH/Palmer dropping deep in the half spaces to collect the ball. The thing is, if Maresca maintains that both fullbacks are defensive and both 8's are offensive then, in my view, we run into two separate problems. 1) Cole Palmer is not an 8 and he's not going to become one, which means he's the right winger. And as that right winger, he cannot very easily invert inside the pitch without someone to cover on the outside. The fullback would just follow him inside unless someone presents an outside threat, and we have nobody who can play RCM that would be a threat on the outside right wing. There's no meaningful rotation that could happen, just Palmer isolated as a pure outside right winger. 2) We have two of the top three attacking right fullbacks in the league, arguably. But the likely choice for RCM, Caicedo, is just not a top tier attacking option. He's solid on the ball but that's about it. Using Gallagher or Santos in the same role isn't really any better. Attacking with the RCM and restricting James / Gusto is like hitting a nail with the flat side of a wrench instead of using a hammer. These two issues were not a problem at Leicester because they didn't have the same kind of talent when it comes to attacking fullbacks, and they didn't have a Cole Palmer to build around. They are a thing to consider at Chelsea, or at least I would argue they should be. Obviously our right backs and Palmer can do Leicester jobs, if they have to, but is it a good use of them? You can use your grill as a menial toaster but that doesn't mean you should. The thing that would make more sense, at least to me, is playing with two defensive midfielders centrally, and then pushing the right fullback high. It will be a longer movement, and Maresca has stated that he doesn't like that, but we're not going to play high tempo back-and-forth football like we did under Poch. And it's a lot easier to not like a particular concept when your option for it isn't literally one of the best in the Prem. But there's just no way to know so far. Also, I'm really more than a little offended by the notion that KDH's season was Palmer-like or Palmer'esque. KDH had 26 G+A in 3600 minutes against Championship opposition. While playing for a well-organized team that arguably had significant player advantage (and certainly outspent everyone else). Palmer managed 33 G+A in 2600 minutes while playing in the Premier League. That's 25% more production in less than 75% of the minutes against much harder opposition. Minutes per production is about 80 for Palmer, about 140 for KDH.

@@lyakoftheleaf The kid just turned 21 years old, defended like a lion, attacked like a madman, had lungs of rion, legs of steel, and always appeared focused and calm. In my book, probably second place POTY. But a potential issue with Gusto 8 is that he's never really done much on the inside. He didn't shoot much, and when he did he generally missed. He was always going beyond on the outside and passing. That said, I reckon he could learn the role just fine, though like TAA he'd have to work on positioning for a while. The real issue with Gusto 8, I think, is where would we then use Caicedo? I think we have to assume that both Enzo and Caicedo, the 100 mil people, are going to be regular starters. My argument, then, is that neither of Enzo and Caicedo would offer as much in the final third as having one of James or Gusto push high and be a threat on the outside, which we know they are very good at. Therefore I think a tactical adjustment has to be made so both our 100 mil midfielders are further back and controlling from deep while one of our very strong attacking fullbacks go high in their place.

@@monochromaticspider I like the way you see the game bro I have also been trying to project how we will play next season now that we are in preseason. If we copy paste the Leicester 23/24 formation into our team then it would be Enzo for Winks Caicedo for Ndidi. Before Maresca, Ndidi was rarely seen in the final third. Also in the recent Copa America Caicedo was playing as a true 8 free role with no instructions to hold the centre. However your point of Palmer not being like for like with Abdul Fatawu because he doesn't have the acceleration to go down the line quite often is true. To solve that I would believe in Gusto to improve his final third actions to be able to play in a role where he interchanges the inside and outside with Palmer. Maybe in the same way Ndidi improved, Gusto could also improve. I can see him in a Valverde role. Valverde doesn't do anything extraordinary in attack but he is an engine who goes where the ball needs him. And for Enzo Caicedo I see them as similar players who could both be fighting for the holding 6 role. Caicedo maybe has more of a chance for the 8 then Enzo for sure.

When we started inverting cucurella I liked the partnership between palmer and madueke and both great at one v one. It makes no sense to put gusto in the 8. Why not play people that are actually goal threats on the rightt together madueke and palmer or is it people just dont want madueke in the team
