Thanks for your honest, down to earth comments. I have one and don't have a lot of outdoors experience and have been trying to figure out how practical the tool is given all the controversy.

Trackers are also super great for skinning and processing deer. I use one regularly for that purpose and I can completely skin and quarter in less than 20 mins and that without the deer hanging but on the ground. It’s heavy enough to break bones and joints and the curved end skins like butter

So I’ll never consider myself a “professional” deer hunter… but a few years back I had a T3 tracker and used it to fully process a whitetail from the woods to the dinner plate and OMG I’m convinced the tracker blade profile is the best performing hunting blade design ever. It blew me away at how well it did at literally every cut. Im not a huge fan of the Trackers for woods use (although I still use them for that) but there’s no blade out there better for processing game
@prepareforadventure6247 Жыл бұрын
Outstanding! I used my T1 to gut my deer, I have not fully processed one with it though, I have skinned and fleshed a bobcat with it and it did just fine with that!

Thanks for posting your thoughts, always great to hear differing perspectives. What works for one person doesn't always work for someone else. I own the TOPS Tom Brown Tracker #1 and I want to love it but I absolutely hate it. I feel it needs a thinner spine and to regrind the angle of the blade. I will check out your tips and see if that can get me to fall in love with it. Keep up the great work ❤

I do have the T1, I do have the 154cm, and T4. Started with the T1 for long long time, I did make lot of fires, hunting: I did process a bunch of deer, elk countless of rabbits, and bear too (I do have pictures to prove it ), great hunting/ quartering/skinning, really love it. Now I am using most exclusively the 154cm because it is a bit smaller, a bit lighter, but mostly because 154cm is more rust resistant. Bottom line Tops Trackers are really good, just need to learn on how to use it. Like you said, phenomenal at fire. And yes I do flesh my hide with it. When I work on bear/coons, etc skulls the T4 is my choice to skin precisely around eyes, nose, lip. Fyi I do live in the mountains of Idaho, and my 154cm is with me at all times. Either bagpack or belt.

Dave Canterbury back in the day use to use the Tracker T-1 he carried it in a Lt. Side dangler and all though he doesn’t use it any more he has said if there was any design out there that was truly a “ Survival Knife “ it would be the Tom brown Tracker.

@@prepareforadventure6247 I discovered the Tracker knife like a lot of people when the movie came out and had to have it. I made a half decent one in 2011, and that just made me want it more I went on KZbin and watched every videos I could find at the time and Dave Canterbury pathfinder page came up, he’s also the reason I have the Leatherman Wave. I have always been happier when I was in the woods and never really had invested in a lot of camping gear so I didn’t really know what was out there, but when I seen what he had and why he had it and how he explained his ever famous line “ common man “ mentality I was sold I bought the Tracker from Tops over the BarkRiver because the BR Trakker didn’t have the saw back. I truly believe that when you start stripping attributes away from the tool you remove the very meaning of what it was meant to be as that 1 tool option WSK.

I don’t have the full size tracker but have the Tops SXB and SXS. I have clipped a tracker 4 to the molle straps on the back of the SXB. Great system. I also have and highly recommend the Tops Scandi Trekker, a great small knife but the sheath is rubbish sitting too high on the belt. In my opinion it’s safer than the puukko.

It seems to me that people should view the Tracker like a multi tool. You can get by with a multi tool most of the time but it will NEVER replace the dedicated tools designed to do their jobs properly.

Awesome video! I already have other knives but have been thinking about a tracker... definitely going to be a TOPS... but which one? I have smaller bushcraft blades (LT Wright GNS and Next Gen) I have a large chopper (Caleb Cox custom Kukri) I think this tracker would be an awesome knife to carry before setting up camp, before breaking your entire kit out. For this reason I'm looking at the small #4. It looks like an awesome general purpose, fire knife. What are your thoughts?
@prepareforadventure62472 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking! Well, If you want the full tracker knife experience, you can’t overlook it’s chopping and splitting ability, the #4 will make curls fine, but it and the #2 lack size and weight to be really effective choppers and splitters, the #3 is slightly smaller than the full-size #1 and weighs considerably less, but still packs a wallop of a chop and will split kindling nicely, all the TOPS models will make decent curls, and are fun! I would recommend weighing what level of tracker knife experience you want and then decide which one to get! Hope you enjoy your knife and God Bless!

Good video. I started using the Tracker design in 2018 and it make bushcraft fun again ! Learning new ways to do old skills with one tool instead of several. A jack of all trades is a master of none but often times better than a master of one.

Just saying. Ive watched Canterburys videos since he had less than 50 posted. He used to praise this knife as the best. I asked him why he doesnt use it anymore, he said "As I get older, my knives get smaller" Do with that what you must. Id rather this than a mora in a survival situation, and you'll never see me with a machete here in eastern Canada, id rather a saw or axe
@davidglazener7921 Жыл бұрын
The notches on the back were meant for notching, not sawing limbs. So, a Silky is not an option.
@prepareforadventure6247 Жыл бұрын
You can actually baton this knife through smaller trees and larger limbs. I have also sawed through small limbs with the saw back. If you want to carry a silky that’s fantastic. I carry one when I take my pack, but it you can carry just this knife and it works bro. But carry whatever you like to carry! 👌

Says the guy who does not know how to properly use a knife. This knife is for people who know how to use multiple different knives with multiple different blade shapes...along with multiple different tools. I get that you don't like the design... BUT... Not liking a Beretta M9 doesn't change the fact it's arguably the most reliable and accurate handgun to have ever been created. You don't have to like Tom Brady for him to be the best quarterback of all time. You don't have to like water for it to be the most important part of all living organisms. So yeah... Not liking the design of a blade... And trying to insult the people who do like it... Doesn't change the fact that this knife is very well designed and designed to do many tasks decently... But trying to insult people who do like the knife... Is proof that you don't know how to properly handle a knife. ANYBODY who is a student of the blade... Would NOT be ripping on people for having a different preference on blade shape. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGfLZKp3rcino8ksi=XlAn55TcjRi6tso4
