I think the heist itself is a restriction to upgrade Skill Hunter. Its almost like tiered loot in a looter/rpg, the higher level the quest,the better quality loot you get but in Chrollo's case, its "upgrading" his Nen ability

My head cannon is: Either he would get another bookmark or some restrictions removed, (bookmark maybe was the result of York New heist), However I feel what's going on is that, he might able to remove the restriction "the stolen ability's user needs to be alive for the ability to stay in Skill Hunter", in this way he would be able to get back some part of Shalnark and Kurotopy back in some form, as already blame himself for their death (as he had their skills/hatsu), and maybe the "page" referred by Bonolenov is already there in the book but the skill is lost because the user is dead. Personally I feel the hardest restriction of Skill Hunter for someone like Chrollo is to keep the target alive after stealing.

I was thinking a couple of upgrades. 1) he can’t steal postmortem nen. 2) he can’t steal nen tied items such as the seed urn. 3) he might try to upgrade his skill hunter to an actual item that can be wielded by other spider members, thus the spider is always alive.

That third one is probably one of the most creative and original ideas for Chrollo and skill hunter that I've come across. If skill hunter is made or can be ältered to pass it along to the next generation of spiders that fits with Chrollos aim for the spiders to be a 'brand' and to continue on. It'll be interesting to see how Hisoka the troupe and the black whale voyage goes.

I think it's the time restriction. That allows him to take abilities he's already seen but missed his chance to steal, such as Kurapika's Chain Jail.

Yo I never even thought about it from your perspective. There are some abilities he can’t steal right now, but if he’s able to broaden the list of abilities he can steal then that would also be an interesting thing. There’s also a possibility that it’s some form of both this theory and Luiz’s theory. Especially considering the difficulty level of what he’s trying to do, and the idea of nen reacting to the state of his aura right now. But Chrollo is walking right into the lions den so idk if he’ll be able to pull it off. I wonder what Machi and Shizuku are doing though. I hope they live 😭

I love your videos and how you bring up stuff that I didn’t even think abt or just completely forgot and I think that’s so cool but to be honest I think the person chrollo is hunting after is most likely Camilla considering her technique completely contradicts the conditions of chrollos I mean she literally has to die to use it and the ability itself doesn’t just kill you but it outright steals your lifeforce(which I’m sure can kill hisoka) but considering that to activate it you have to violate one of the main conditions to skill hunter that could merit it to some sort of level up condition for chrollo to accomplish to even use Camilla’s technique and I’ve always thought it was super werid how chrollo never brought the idea of using post mortem nen or a technique similar to it up even in inner monologue I mean it’s not like he’s the type to not think smth like this up or idk he could be hunting one of the zodiacs since there on higher floors and we know nothing abt them

Be funny if the evolution is skill hunter floats & uses abilities automatically, and he just thinks of a page/ability, and the book just turns to it, so he doesn't need to hold the book open to use the multiple abilities/memorize them to use. Could also remove the palm/time limit so he just looks an abilities ask a question then use it.

It’s a misconception that he “needs” this to win. It’s just that it massively increases his odds. He is still favorite even before this. Just like before chrollo is taking about having 100% chance Hisoka dies instead of maybe 70% chance. He is saying he could lose if he doesn’t prepare, not that he will.

This. People also keep leaving out the fact that Chrollo was never interested in even fighting Hisoka. He had goals more important than fighting for sport like Hisoka. If I had a homicidal clown that loves to fight coming after me, I'd take every measure to make sure I win too. People try to downplay him cuz he needs prep time but thats just his style. I'm confident if he ran into Hisoka rn it wouldn't be as easy of a fight as people think for Hisoka. He wouldn't even waste his time chasing Chrollo if he didn't think he was worth it. When Chrollo fights he plays for keeps from the jump vs Hisoka that loves the thrill of fighting strong people and wants to enjoy it.

I disagree, I think he's wary of Hisoka and his strength he would not have run away for an entire year and collected that many abilities and chose the location if he believed he could defeat Hisoka confidently without it. Now he has the entire phantom troupe supporting him and he still feels the need to enhance his ability in order to combat hisoka. He even praised hisoka in the first fight and told him "This is the first time I've ever needed this many abilities to kill someone" something along those lines. Not saying Chrollo would 100% lose but I think you guys are giving him too much credit and not giving hisoka his credit.

@ you’re missing the point here, chrollo said “not to taunt but I have 100% chance of victory”. Chrollo is not dumb, if he has time to prepare he will use it to maximize his odds. We already saw him fight unprepared and he did extremely well against Zeno and Silva without even going for the kill. I disagree with you, I think you’re missing that chrollo is always looking to be prepared/have better odds. Although if he needs to improvise, who better with this variety of abilities.

My whole point is if he was confident he could win without prep he would have fought Hisoka the moment he had his nen returned to him. He saw Hisoka as a threat that he needed preparation for, Yes he wanted a landslide victory but he didn't believe he could achieve that without preparation is my point. Now he has the entire phantom troupe backing him and he still feels the need to enhance himself in preparation for Hisoka.

Before chrollo was still favorite and could win maybe 7,8 times out of 10. But there’s still a small chance Hisoka beats him. If you were him would you not make sure that 20-30% Hisoka has of winning is close to 0% ? That’s my point. And same goes here.

I have a small theory that hisoka has the support of one of the princes supported by a mafia family and i think that family is the heilly. Morena gave him contagion which will help him upgrade his nen ability when the kill conditions are met

i think also if we rank Hatsu’s on a scale from let’s say D - SS. I think right now Chrollo can capture A tier abilities, however the ability he wants is an S tier. So to capture that he has to power up his book so that it can hold an S tier ability.

“Specifically steal an ability” don’t know exactly what Ging’s ability is but we know he can copy abilities under less conditions than Chrollo. “If it’s a physical attack, I just need to get hit by it” what about an ability like the 2 you said with Ging? Gings ability is Similar with less restrictions which could allow him access to all abilities he has ever used with the book with gings restrictions instead. Also could see Togashi finally explaining to us exactly what Ging can do if chrollo is after him

That's not a Nen ability. It's just a skill that he knows, hence why he can only learn physical type abilities. He even tells Pariston this when he figures out that he was trying to get Ging to show off his actual Nen ability.

Something important to mention about Chrollo is that we’ve only seen him use manipulation, conjugation, and specialization techniques. There are a few techniques he has used that don’t have a known category but most likely fit into one of the above mentioned. The only outlier is the teleportation technique he used. That could potentially come from a conjured object though. We didn’t see the activation. It seems likely that Chrollo is also restricted by nen affinity type. He likely can’t use an emission technique at the same level as the original user for instance. This is probably why he didn’t use the teleportation technique against hisoka. The only other known time skill hunter evolved was to allow Chrollo to use abilities he was previously unable to use to their optimal effectiveness. I believe Chrollo is capable of stealing any ability but is restricted by the way he has to use them. We know he is bound by the original users interpretation of the ability. The upgrade to skill hunter is likely something Chrollo will tailor to allow him to use the ability he wants to steal. Imagine something like tserriednich’s abulity. Zetsu is a requirement for activation. If Chrollo stole this ability he probably wouldn’t be able to use it because zetsu would deactivate skill hunter. Just my opinions though I could be way off.
