Honestly people don’t fully understand why Kenobi really lost to Dooku, at least in Revenge of The Sith. The junior novelization for ROTS confirmed that the reason Kenobi got ragdolled by Dooku was because he left his guard down when going on the offensive. Obi Wan did this because he believed they would’ve been able to flank Dooku only to be proven wrong as the Dooku manages to parry both of their attacks and then proceed to choke Obi Wan before he can get his defences up. “He can't fight in two directions at once, Obi-Wan thought as he came up behind the Count. If we can - Count Dooku half-turned and raised a hand. A rush of dark power lifted Obi-Wan off his feet and choked the air from his lungs. He reached for the Force to counter Dooku, but the attack had been too sudden. He saw Dooku twist, kicking out at Anakin with all his weight behind it. Anakin fell backward, and Dooku hurled Obi-Wan over the edge of the balcony.” The thing About force barriers in canon is that they’re not like a passive cocoon, but rather something you have to consciously exert effort in. This is shown in both the clone wars and the fallen order games, where force users are shown have to gesture and parry unfriendly force attacks with their own. It’s even implied in Star Wars rebels where Ezra and Kanen of all people, being able to force push Vader when he was distracted. When Obi Wan was actually focused and on the defensive (which is when he’s at his A game) he’s able to parry a force blast from Darth Vader (And no Vader wasn’t nerfed). The Revenge of the Sith junior novel confirms he was actually growing stronger during their duel. “Both he and Anakin felt the anguish of their need to kill the other. But Anakin had turned to the dark side, and despair and pain strengthened the dark side. It gave him an advantage Obi-Wan could not match. Unless he let go of his own despair and let the living Force move him - the Force that bound all living things together, even Obi-Wan and this new, deadly, evil Anakin.”

Dooku was a dark side force user and well experienced combatant. Obi-Wan was just a rookie coming up the ranks.

Dooku tended to make Obi Wan the aggressor and his offensive skills with Ataru weren't sufficient enough to break through Dooku's defense. Also Dooku wasn't likely to make a mistake that Obi Wan could take advantage of with Soresu. Darth Zannah had the same issue with not being comfortable being the aggressor.

Also, Dooku has never embraced the dark side fully. He used it for "greater goals" because of his hatred as Anakin was. Dooku knew he wasen't allowed to kill Anakin. Dooku thought oh well, I'm gonna help my master turn the kid to the dark side. That was Palpatines plan and Dookus mistake. The moment Dooku lost the duel was the moment he askef Anakin to embrace his emotions.

soresus biggest weakness is that it has no offensive techniques its purely defensive so when Kenobi attack he went directly against his forms strength so dooku was able to control the duel and pic obywan assault apart

2:55-3:06...Dang...Anakin Skywalker needed to be trained by count dooku... He had one too many flips and then end up being Darth Vader. From count dooku's philosophy Anakin Skywalker flipped into his Vader Suit...😂

It's odd that then it seemingly had nothing to do with Dooku's greater experience, or learning how to better use the Force offensively, in ways Jedi don't, against Kenobi's acknowledged lesser amount of actual Force power? I'm not saying I mind that it's strictly "It was a duel, and Dooku was a better duelist, but I feel like the fact that Dooku was a more experienced Master, who knew of the Force in ways Kenobi didn't, and then the Dark Side, plus a more bloodthirsty, win by any means attitude should have also been advantages in Tyranus' favor.

Would you venture to say that, if Anakin mentally approached his fight against Obi-Wan the same way he did against Dooku earlier in the film, that he likely would have defeated Obi-Wan on Mustafar?

No, there's more to the Anakin vs Dooku fight. Anakin used a variant of Form V that could be bolstered by rage, and was effective against Makashi. Anakin's dark version of Form V could be stopped by a master of Form III.

Absolutely. If Anakin woulden't have had the need to always prove himself he would have won. I think that's proven by the dialog in the film, where Obi-Wan triggers Anakin with, "It's over Anakin. I have the high-ground." and Anakin falls for that by, "You underestamate my power." which Obi-Wan further replies, "Don't try it" And from he's perspective that was a last try to save Anakin, even if it meant that Darth Vader would survive, Anakin saw it as a provocation and jumped. I just want to add, no to the, "If he did the same as he did with dooku." and that Anakin and Obi-Wan would've never fought in a duel of death where Anakin could've won. If we don't do a whole Palpatine would've found another way to turn Anakin to the dark side. But well, duel of the fates is where the destiniy of Anakin was formed. At least in canon.

@@HenhousetheRed I would agree with them, the novelizations state that Obi Wan was completely aware Anakin was far more power physical and in the force, which is why he waited for Anakin to make a mistake and use his arrogance against him to his advantage in order to beat him, plus he understood Anakin better than anyone which is how he knew to do this it wasn’t so much about the forms being used as if done properly Anakin could have eventually been able to overwhelm Obi Wan with his strength if Obi Wan cannot find an opening on time. Heck! Palpatine who played both Anakin and the entire Jedi Council like he was playing a game of chess didn’t even expect Anakin to lose to Obi Wan which says a lot. The point is, Anakin actually using offensive and defensive and playing the fight smart without trying to make any cocky moves which would greatly catch Obi Wan off guard as that is exactly what he would expect Anakin to do. - Obi Wan vs Anakin is the perfect example of “You can beat a person stronger than you if you can outthink them”.

Dooku has better lightsaber form & hes way more experienced & has force power + Abilities over Obi-wan. That's obviously why he always overpowered Obi-wan in every encounter they had.

@@darkreaper9205 also he was trained by Yoda and sidous the two most powerful beings Anikan doesn’t count but during the clone wars the dark side virus took over and began to infect him and he was slowly dying

Obi wan already mastered all 7 different lightsabers skills equal to anikin skywalker so yeah he can beat him the reason why he lost was because of the emperor I think but he also able to equal to anikin in the end
