Excellent metal repair. This guy has seen it all. He knows how to make parts work that were never intended to be on the same car. You are lucky to find someone like him. Thanks for a great video.

I’m in this trade and hearing you talk about it like it’s really fascinating makes me happy. A lot of people look at the finished product, being shiny paint, it’s good to see appreciation on the work it takes to get it to that stage. Great video

9:10 - Larry, for Frank to be able to match the original shape with a mere panel hammer is insane. I have no words to describe such skills. The only guy I know who could do this works at a repair shop in Oklahoma. My dad went to him for ANYTHING: bent doors, dents in the hood. The guy could work miracles with any car even something like a 1990 Jeep Cherokee. He had AMAZING eyes. We once took my Jeep to him for an inspection. It was 8:45 at night and a light drizzle was constantly annoying me. We stepped out of the car and the first words out of his mouth: "Um, you here because of the dent on the fender?" My dad was shocked. We were visiting because of a dent on the OTHER side of the car. I had to borrow a Maglite and shine it directly on the fender. Yep, there was a small dent there but I had to stand and look at it with my face pressed against the side of the door panel to see it! And he saw it without the flashlight! The guy was probably from another planet! I think he's retired by now.

It's rare you come across videos on KZbin that you wish were longer. This one I didn't want to end. You don't get this level of a behind-the-scenes look at this kind of work anywhere, and on a classic Porsche no less. Brilliant work Larry thank you for bringing us all along.

I was happy to see this video. My ‘74 had rust issues and needed replacement. Me being me, I have to do this myself lol. Now this happened about 10 years ago, but I used the same exact method used here. The tool I created looked almost identical to the one he made to be able unroll the top of the drip rail from the roof panel. It sure felt good to see a professional doing it the same way I did!

Incredible craftsmanship! It is truly awe-inspiring to watch someone who has worked nearly their entire life with their hands. All these car restoration TV shows try to cram a multi-month build into 30 or 60 minutes. While I'm sure some of those folks have skills that approach this level you almost never get to see it. Thank you for sharing this process!

That is incredible and a unbelievable amount of hours for prep and execution. Frank is a dying talent in today's world he has a gift to restore what man and mother nature destroys. His talent isn't dying at all. you have no idea what your talking about. In a age where it pays a lot of money for this kind of work theres plenty of people with his level of skill. The car community is bigger now than ever.

this is the craziest thing i have ever seen. any other car i would be like bro let it go. but this level of commitment, the passion, the love, the years of knowledge being baked into the car. ppl blow 100k at vegas or on golf trips and memberships. he's going to enjoy this everyday and the best part is that larry is crazy af and he's gonna track the hell out of this thing. raw and sick. everyone has a car sitting in the backyard that they wish they could do this to. but instead we all just get new dds. how easy would it have been for him to go out and buy a new 911. he could have got a pretty nice one too for what he's spending here. but who goes thru this instead and gives a car another 30 years? hard years at that? larry good job man.

Big job. When I had my AB shop I replaced the collapsed roof on a Honda Accord sedan. Insurance wrote it off but the owner wanted it repaired. Lots of details, and to add insult to injury, it was that Honda "champagne" color, very hard to match. I still have the photos of the repair somewhere. I feel your pain.

Wow fascinating film. The attention to detail and craftmanship is superb. You can't rush years of experience, it has to be earned to gain the 'eye'. Can't wait for the bodywork. Hours of wet sanding later... People need to forget about cost. Its not cheap, the end. If its your passion and pride and joy, it will be well worth it in years to come. Just like roadtrips spent with your car, it helps to strengthen the bond and love. Still regret selling my Lotus that i rebuilt.
