Good for you. I was fired because I told a company that I wasn't taking their LGBT training. Learning about the history of the movement and about pronoun usage. The usual trash. Big NOPE from me. DEI is racist, biased, and full of stereotypes. It's vague definitions assume tribalism and takes away from unique individual identity while promoting victimhood. One could be wealthy and still have a dysfunctional childhood. And looking at race is too simplistic. I have way more in common with a black female conservative then I do a woke progressive of my same age and culture. You have to give yourself a lobotomy and believe in subjective reverse racism to swallow DEI. No thanks.

in the end, equity is about punishing the talented and hard working, and rewarding the talentless and lazy. Unjust and counterproductive, as said. The crazy thing is „talentless“ is the same as „lazy“. Talent is NOT SOMETHING PEOPLE ARE BORN WITH, contrary to the, incorrect, widespread misconception of talent being a gift of birth. There are no „grinders“ I.e. people who do everything they can to change their circumstances and situation in their work life and it just doesn’t happen for them… those people do not really exist. There are also virtually no people who do half the work and get 10x the results. It’s all nonsense. If you put in the work, you WILL get to where you want to go.

DEI has already destroyed my former employer and is currently destroying my current one. No one wants to work because of the inequality DEI has created. The whole point of working hard is to be rewarded for your work. With DEI they won’t give me a raise even though they say I deserve it because that wouldn’t be “equitable” to my co workers who aren’t as capable as I am. So we all work at the level of our weakest link. No one who is capable tries to be productive because the guy who does nothing makes the same as us. They won’t give me a promotion even though they say I deserve that too because that wouldn’t be “diverse or inclusive.” So they keep hiring female managers from outside of the company who fail and quit in a few months. They don’t fail because they are female, they fail because they are hired straight to management without knowing anything about how the business operates. Females don’t want to work here because it’s dirty. These two things are causing us to have several quarters where we don’t make a profit. Idk how long the company has left. At this point I’m cheering for them to fail. Screw DEI

And karl marx says humans are NATURALLY greedy. The only reason DEI is perceived as socialist was that the nationalist racist trump supporters have overrun the conservative party that is the republicans and said all bad things that are not made by the party is “communist” like it’s still the cold war, and the racism in the democratic party has put itself under a guise of non-racism, making life worse for minorities. The example you provided (educational incentives) is an excellent choice. But I find that DEI in business and the workplace is just as grotesque in its blatant disregard for competency; and in some cases, can actually lead to greater chances for workplace injury, if not at least business failure or poor sustainability. Call me old fashioned, but the best candidate for any job position is always merit based. SVB and Bud Light stand as recent shining examples.

I come from India, who has now decades of experience in this and used for political gain - In India we call it Religion / caste based RESERVATION system. But in christian majority countries, there is only one major religion, and no caste system below it, political parties NEED DEI. DEI creates groups in the population who will keep voting for a certain political party because they know this political party will give them BENEFITS. Next political party that comes along, will ALSO KEEP PROMISING BENEFITS, if not they won't get the votes they need. Eventually, the goal is to create a MAJORITY of voters who will be considered MARGINALISED, OUTCAST, and DISADVANTAGED. Now, This MAJORITY of voters can only be CONTROLLED if they keep giving them more RESERVATIONS. And this group will only keep voting for any party that promises more benefits. This has got nothing to with actual reality. The current reality in India is: 1. A family which is considered minority, socially disadvantaged caste group in India can be billionaire, but will still get free education and even things like calculators for free. 2. Can score 25000th rank out of 1 million students, and will still get a better engineering and a medical seat than a person from a higher caste with 100th or 1000th rank. 3. Get explicit reservations for government jobs 4. Money from the government for your business 5. Guaranteed protection through your local politicians. It has got nothing to do with reality. It is to create guaranteed votes in perpetuity.
@Tank50us
@Tank50us 9 ай бұрын
Using the medical field example provided, the best way to handle it, in my oppinion, is to give each potential candidate a "Day in the field". Essentially, let them actually see what the job entails, while tied to the hips of someone who knows the job well. If they are still on board with it, the next thing to do is see what their aptitude is. See what point they're at, and how much they know. Someone born to a medical family will obviously know quite a bit, and be able to start at a higher level. Those who don't may need some extra schooling to get them fully acquainted to the field. This, will mean that while one student will enter the field a year or two behind the other, they will enter it with just as good a footing as the one with existing knowledge. During this time of extra training, they may even work at a hospital as an orderly, tech, or any low-level role within the hospital. This in turn helps them to get the connections. The job will earn them income to help pay for medical school. And since they'll come into it already seeing everything, they may even have a greater understanding of what's needed, giving them extra incentive to push themselves towards higher fields. The kid born to wealthy doctor parents may make a great surgeon. But the kid born to struggling parents may push him/her self to become more specialized. But could just as easily be a great surgeon as well.

I was removed from the board of a theatre company which I helped drag back from the brink, for refusing to play along with this enforced identity politics... it began when I was not playing along with the pronoun games (telling me what I can't say is one thing, telling me what I must is a very different proposition) and came to a conclusion when I just couldn't sign the diversity and inclusion policy. I'm a very open and empathetic person, always happy to make concessions for a range of individuals and I'm fascinated by the weird and quirky among us. But when it comes to these policies being forced into the endeavour of creating art, I have to draw the line and refuse. Simply put, such enforced prerequisites become an antithetical barrier to the foundational requirement of directors to judge one's worth to the process, by their individual skills and their abilities to apply those skills to the project. But hey, if that's the direction it's going, so be it. I can't fight it from inside, so I just decided to start my own project and over the last two years have slowly but surely picked off all the people who I knew were just going along to get along. People who also happen to be the competent and sane people, who are interested in the quality of their art. We're going to crush them by simply going our own way and producing quality performing arts entertainment that people actually want to see. A novel businesses plan, I know.

After the show he thanked us profusely, and admitted he was concerned we "discovered" he was gay! We looked at each other and laughed. We told them we recognized he was, gay and his two roommates were lesbians, their first day at work. They appeared shocked 😲 and asked, "But you are Teamsters!" We told them 70% of new hires are worthless! You three have been Hard Workers and Smart from day one! You Three are part of Our Team! We will be there for you at plays, softball, whatever! My brother teamsters and I had been getting some odd stares until then. The theater company wasn't exclusively gay (and lez); but may were. Equality of opportunity does not mean equal outcome.
@TomHenksYT
@TomHenksYT 7 ай бұрын
"Equity" these days is no longer the same as "equality" that they used to fight for. These days it's also no longer about equal opportunity, it's about equal outcome aka equal representation in everything. But there are two massive problems with this. Firstly, if every group of people, every race and every gender should be equally represented in every occupation (god forbid if they actually believe there are more than two genders for this), then you completely forego people's individual skills and interests. This would only be possible with incredible governmental pressure and with the omission of free will. Because if you leave people to make their own career choices, you'll never get equal representation in everything. Women are much more likely than men to choose becoming nurses, and men are much more likely than women to choose becoming mechanics. If the government takes this choice away from all of us (which is the only way equity could ever happen), then we're basically like robots, and completely interchangeable with each other. And secondly, the media (and yes, also feminists) only point towards inequity when it comes to the prestigeous jobs or titles. Nobody cares that 99% of bricklayers and coal miners or 95% of construction workers are men, for example. Or that over 90% of workplace deaths are men. But for all the high status jobs, the politicians, the CEOs etc. they are pushing hard for equal representation. For the sort of jobs that only a very small minority of the population is qualified to do and that pay a lot of money, that's where they want equal representation. But for the blue-collar jobs that are essential for maintaining a functioning modern society, they don't care about equal representation at all.

My biggest problem with DEI is that it blatantly disregards the human reality of groups and unity. We can't just be a global mass of identity-less random people; groups will always emerge along political, religious, ethnic etc. lines. By trying to force diversity, you'll just create new groups as they emerge out of the chaos, not eliminate the reality of tribes and nations... so why are we doing it?

Now here is a guy that has overcome. He has experience under stress with his military background, and has demonstrated his loyalty to his country. These short videos cover so many of the current problems facing american society. He should be heard on the national stage, just being a local politician is not a broad enough reach for these messages. Oh, but wait....then he has to fight the political corruption evident in every western society, so any wonder society is this way. Even Trump 1 could not "drain the swamp" as he said, so what hope the rest?

You forgot the elephant in the room which nobody wants to acknowledge: IQ, which like most other things, is somewhat heritable. The reason kids from college educated parents are more likely to go to college is in part money, sure, and also part socialization (they are taught to value college and education in general), but it is also partly heritable IQ. Now there are lots of high IQ families that don't have a history of college, but you can't help them without proper testing to identify the appropriate candidates. This includes high school achievement and things like SAT tests. Nobody thinks it's weird when tall parents have tall kids, or blonde parents have blonde kids, or black parents have black kids, but suggest smart parents have smart kids and everybody blows a fuse. And no, I am not suggesting IQ is related to race. Every race has a wide distribution of IQ, just as they have a wide distribution of physical features.

Actually, equity isn't about equality of opportunity, it's equality of outcome. The woke assume that if two people take the same class and get different grades, the student who scored lower was somehow oppressed and/or the student who did better had "privilege." They refuse to take into account examples like you gave about having better educated parents. They also refuse to acknowledge that some cultures value things like education differently, which can lead to different outcomes.

As a woke liberal this is the first video kind of convince me at least a little bit. Whenever I argue with the libertarian or conservative, one of their argument is that even the current system does not ensure an "equal outcome", at least we have "equal opportunity". I was never able to be convinced since we all know even "equal opportunity" is not a real thing. That's why I appreciate that you recognize that even "equal opportunity" is not possible nor currently achieved. Instead, you addressed the potential unintended consequences of trying to create "equal opportunity", which is an argument I can respect and understand. ( but not sure I am totally convinced thought, after all, I think I am still woke, but working on understanding the other side's perspective)

Equality of outcome is impossible. We are all equal under the law, but humans simply are not equal. If you magically made everybody economically equal tomorrow, within weeks inequality would exist once more. Why is there some kind of moral imperative that we are all economically equal? I have never begrudged anyone for being more successful or having more than myself. The goal should be to lift people out poverty and celebrate those that achieve success.

Thus which is the point that equality of outcome is just as if not more unachievable than equality of opportunity. There is only a finite number of resources and positions. Equality of outcome mandates that those positions or resources be spread out to ensure 'representation' as opposed to actual ability. Not everyone is equal at everything. Therefore you're going to end up filling those positions or distributing those resources to people who simply aren't a good fit. Equality of Opportunity is easier to achieve. As Nick said "There is no legal barrier to entry." That's what makes it infinitely easier then equality of outcome. The catch is that there is no guarantee you'll get what you're after. It's not that Equality of Opportunity has no downsides, this is it. It is however more realistic than ensuring equal outcome. Trying to help people is not a bad thing. But when you start creating REGULATIONS and MANDATES, are you really 'helping' at that point? There is a point where you have to step back and check to see if your assistance is doing more harm than good. "You ether die a Hero or live long enough see yourself become the Villain." DEI should be spelled DIE because it has LONG crossed that line.

To be honest, D.E.I advocates. I suffered a car wreck in 2020, and while I do not want to rely on SSI because it gives me less than 1k per month and health insurance coverage in one of the most medically disadvantaged parts of the US. I want to get through college and get a degree for a job that pays well. I do not want to be babied by the country, I want to get a degree to medically help people and contribute to my country. That is not to say that I refuse the accessibility I get over other students, but I am going to take advantage of the things that happened to me that I can not reverse or change but I am going to use them to get my degree so that I may help people as an advocate in the medical field who can understand the plight of some patients. If I could skip the prerequisites to get into or through the program, I would end up being the worst version of the job I am currently aiming for since the inception of its job title. I embrace my difficulties as learning challenges.

When I was in computer science grad school back in the mid-90s, I got a $1000 scholarship for maintaining a 4.0 average. At the same time, they were offering $14,000 fellowships to women who maintained a 2.0 average ... never mind that the lowest allowable average for grad school was 3.0. Maybe they lowered that standard too for women. I don't know.

In the bible and demonstrated very clearly in the book of Ruth , the laws for helpings the poor are layed out: The poor have the right to come to the rich man's field and gather the wheat that falls through when the cutters do their work. Also, the corners of the field are left for the poor to harvest. What do we learn from this? The poor are not given bread by the rich man ! They have the right to work and gather the wheat and then do the work to finally produce their bread themselves ! So, any attempt to help the person in the second scenario should not give him or her the "free bread" but rather give them the opportunity to bake their own. So, just allowing a person to enter into medical school because of their skin color would be equivalent to giving them free bread. Perhaps if there was a high school program that idenfies people with potential and gives them some of the knowledge the doctors' son has, would help ?

DEI lacks the attitude of encouragement but rather emphasizes disparity and deficiency of identity groups and their stereotypical circumstances. Nothing beats saying “you can do it”. Nothing beats equality as referred to by Martin Luther King. That we should all be judged by the content of our character and not by the color of our skin. Character is attitude and how we treat others. It is a measure of how much we believe in our own abilities to set out and accomplish anything worthwhile doing.
