Its pretty amazing how Brendon developed his vocal style His voice changed, but he always sang beautifully and powerfully. Its easy to find amazing vocal parts in every album. How he cares about his voice will give him longevity in the industry (as you can already see with his Broadway stuff)

Bands like Panic! at the Disco were very big when I was a teenager. I was never a huge fan of him then, but as time goes on my appreciation of Brendon's sheer musicianship has really made me grow to love him. I was too preoccupied with irrelevant things like "image" and "genres" and I missed out on some great stuff. I imagine a lot of young folks are in that position. My advice would be to just listen to what you enjoy and leave the rest for the losers to worry about lol

On the subject of censorship; I imagine you have heard the story but I remember listening to radio 2 when permission to land had just hit the charts and they accidentally played ‘Givin’ Up’ instead of ‘I believe In a thing called love’. I was/am a big fan of your work so knew what was coming as soon as the intro came on (a great swap in my opinion, a vastly superior song, sadly under played) Ken Bruce must have gone for a comfort break or something so it played all the way through, I think it was about 5:30 in the afternoon though, so I imagine not all listening would have been as happy as me about the change! The DJ just apologised for playing the wrong song, and moved on. Classic.

I was thinking about it yesterday while watching this video that if he were to see DOAB, what would he say!!!! Well he caught in just two songs the change, maturity and versatility of Brendon's voice, something which some haters fail to see, deliberately or not! I wonder if Justin would be surprised to discover this crooner aspect of Brendon's voice!!

A friend and I always talk about how these pop punk bands made their catchiest songs out of effective use of dynamics, like you say about I Write Sins Fall Out Boy were the masters at it we reckon, there's soft-loud dynamics in pretty much every song

I'm always amazed by your ability to pick apart the chords, notes etc. Is it genius or savantism?? Sorry had to go there. Seriously though I find it genius. To listen to something once or twice and break it down as you do and replay it, is amazing!

It is because he is such a good vocalist on top of his guitar skills. I try to preach constantly to guitarists that don't want to learn to sing to at least attempt to learn to sing your intervals. It unlocks everything and makes playing things by ear (even extended chords with some practice) second nature.

Great one once again. Please do a Nirvana deep dive now that you've mentioned them couple of times. Particularly would like to hear your thoughts on their last recording You Know You're Right.

Hello Mr. Justin Hawkins. Have you considered making a video of your reactions to people "covering" some songs by "The Darkness" I'm sure there must be some videos of that here on KZbin. I think that would be an awesome subject. Love the channel. Keep on riding again! Again...

Looking forward to the Jellyfish episode. Great group with two classic albums. Check out The Lickerish Quartet ,three former members of Jellyfish who have created 3 EPs, some great tracks on there. Well worth a listen.

Back when they first hit it big they seemed to have a lot of energy and potential, but weren't quite "there" yet. I lost track of them fast ... Did you hear about the new Queen song with the Freddie vocals!?!?! It's coming up in September, I'm panicking about that!!!! Yassss!!! Much love to you Mr. Hawkins ♡

I was fortunate enough and had the chance to say hello to Jellyfish after a sound check on their Spilt Milk tour, had a giggle with Andy which was fun but you could feel that they all didn’t get along too well by then. The show was truly outstanding and is still one of my top favorites. Absolutely huge sound from 4 ppl.
