My (now ex) wife won a radio contest to meet Jared Leto before a 30 Seconds to Mars show about 10 years ago. She'd had a crush on him since his Jordan Catalano days. We're about a decade younger than Mr. Leto, which makes us far too old for him to be interested in. He hated meeting us even before he had, was wildly standoffish and dismissive, and thoroughly unpleasant. We skipped the concert after-even though we had free tickets-because he was so off-putting.
@feintcircles2 жыл бұрын
I had a friend in the early 2000's that got invited backstage after a 30 Sec to Mars show. After hanging out for a bit Jared wanted everyone to get on the tour bus. Right before she climbed on the bus Jared stopped her and told her that she was too fat to hangout on the bus with everyone else. This absolutely destroyed her self confidence for years after, and she was a really attractive young woman. I'll never forgive him for that crap.

I fully agree with the prog resemblance of the self-titled album, and now that I think about it, it's no surprise that I got super deep into prog rock and metal a year or two after I really gave that debut album a listen. It's very raw, yet also futuristic at the same time. I do quite like This Is War, I think partially because it all flows together quite well and just sounded different than anything else I had heard at the time. A Beautiful Lie has some really incredible songs (the title track, The Kill, and From Yesterday), but I honestly am not a huge fan of a lot of the songs on that album. Your voice gets lower as you get older. He was singing up to top D's which is ridiculously high for any singer. As you tour your voice gets more and more damaged also. He'll never sing that high again. Doesn't make him any less of a singer though.
@maxmorelli1932 жыл бұрын
Your voice gets lower if you don't use it properly, as the most of the singers do unfortunatly. One thing is to be sounding very very good, and another thing is to be sounding good and healthy at same time. He pushed it to far and he didn't menage to be singing properly all the time. Since he was touring and doing this for so long he lost it. That s it. Watch out maestro Angelo Lo Forese, you will see that age, if u sang properly, doesn t mean anything.

6:40 flooorrr uh ahhhsssggg hahahaha i love you man Oh gosh, 30stm was everything to me when i was younger and then Jared's ego had to destroy it all... But on well, that's growing up: finding out your idols are jerks, that your taste in music can change...

That "Whooaoooaooooh!" is also in Bad Habit by The Offspring, at the first break about a minute and a half in. A bit higher in pitch but the intervals (and "lyrics") are the same.

This song is much more appreciated if you watch a live version. Its just one of those songs that has another level when its live. I honestly don't like the studio version so much.

Hey Justin...speaking of cults, I'd love to get your take on the band Church of the Crystal Skull. They're probably been my favourite music discovery since 2006 when I came across The Darkness for the first time. "Black Slug" and "Cold Sweat" are particularly good songs/videos!

Gotta say I am a metal fan and did enjoy this album though. I do think Jared is immensely talented and seems unfair to have all of that!! Lol. Didn’t really care for the music after this album though! Not sure where it went to! I also did not know about this cult thing that is going on!! A little creepy I’d say! But worth checking out to see if it is true or just stories!! Anyway, love the channel!! I have a great respect for your opinions and talent!!! Keep pushing forward!!

The longer this video goes, I've realized that you do in fact have that massive movie star head you were speaking of earlier in the video, strong jaw line and a hairdo like a crooked lawyer. You could pass as a movie star or rock star, which ever you fancy. Nice video, you seem very intelligent.

This is a wildly stupid question, but I’m a wildly silly man. Would you ever consider reviewing an unsigned artist, if one was to submit a song, or indeed album?

@@connorllewellyn4382 You folks are probably right... maybe he should throw some money on patreon and do something that would prove he's not a dickhead. Rescue a kitten from up a tree, while someone records it, and then have a little girl run up screaming "THIEF! THIS MAN IS STEALING MY KITTEN!"

Justin! you are killing me! Talking about his eyes and a speculative cult island. 😂 I accidentally saw 30 seconds to Mars in Charlotte North Carolina because they were the opener for Muse. Muse was rained out but we did see 30 seconds. I am not a fan of the emo 2000’s genre but have a few songs that I really like. The kill is one of them. My husband and I were joking that this wasn’t the real Jared Leto, A list movie actor in Charlotte North Carolina? And My husband and I were joking the entire time because we thought possibly he may have hired a stand in because he had a huge beard and heavy heavy heavy heavy huge sunglasses! But I will say that his crowd interaction was beautiful, He really knows how to engage the people in a performance and at the end of their show he pulled up at least 40 people onto the stage to dance with them. In Charlotte North Carolina? It sort of blew us away! Also, his vocal performance is superb. Wish I had his range and ability. And I am a paid Vocalist. Ha ha Shame on anyone who would ever try to tear him apart for being a performing musician or say that his vocal ability is not what people think.

Hi Justin, there’s a Gibson SJ200 attributed as Dan’s old guitar on a well known bidding site for £25,000. What are your thoughts? There must be a lucrative career for you going round music stores and strumming guitars and getting a share of the markups! 🙂

Went to see 30STM in Manchester after A Beautiful Lie came out, simply to accompany my partner, who really fancied JL. They were actually great live, really impressed me. Met him afterwards & he was pleasant enough, if a bit wary. The rest of the band were lovely. Saw them again a little later in a Edinburgh and they were really good then too; met the band again, same experience as before. However the last time I saw them, after the next album came out, his voice was shot and he got the audience to sing most of the songs. Haven’t seen them since and I do get the impression JL takes himself somewhat too seriously - and the cult thing def sounds a bit weird. FWIW though, if AURORA starts a cult I’m definitely in, 110%. 😉😁

Europe and 30STM are quite different musically. But for sure they both have charismatic and talented pretty boys up front (and I don't mean that in a disparaging way). What could be more rock-and-roll than calling yourself Joey Tempest, right?
