I was a alcoholic to, my first drink was after almost 5 years. On my brothers wedding, i had 2 wine. Later i drink again and i was soooo sick, its almost 4 months later and didind drink, i can control my self and i'm proud. Sorry english is not so good

So good of you to help this man again. Reminds me of my brother who is an alcoholic. I did the same thing for him, cleaned his filthy apartment, got him out of jail, took him to the hospital, convinced his landlord to let him stay in his apartment, etc. Unfortunately when I stopped enabling him, he cut me off and doesn’t talk to me anymore. It’s sad but I had to do it for my own sanity.

I commend you for the job you do, and that you have the heart to help him one more time. I say this as a recovered alcoholic myself. Sometimes we need to sit in the mess we made, and realize that the help we need is not taking advantage of someone with a heart cleaning up after us, but that we need to go into rehab and get therapy too. It's a choice he needs to make himself. No one can do it for him. It's a hard choice to make.

You did a wonderful job! Since you had already cleaned this home once before, it might have been a good idea to have him help out this second time (putting the cans into bags, for example). Learned helplessness is a real issue.

I agree about learned helplessness, or as I call it, wilful uselessness, but he'd probably get in her way and slown down the process to the extent she wouldn't get the job done. I think she's on a hiding to nothing with this guy tbqh. If he had any desire to help himself he'd have done the job himself anyway. It's entirely doable for an able bodied man to clean surfaces anbd bathroom and put things in black bags and take them out. He knows he's got a free woman to do his bidding though, very typical, so he'll act useless as long as it benefits him.

Addiction is a neurological disorder. A brain disease. Very difficult to deal with until the sufferer has decided to seek help. Even then the percentage of relaps is high. This is a life long struggle. Praying this man seeks professional help. Thank you Barbie❤

Thanks for going back again. One thing about addiction you almost need everything to be perfect for recovery to work. Triggers are always present to a degree of self. Job loss, yes but, also the bureaucracy of getting benefits to pay bills and get another job. The price of cheap beer to milk, eggs and bread can be a trigger too. So, thanks for going back and cleaning
