LOL I'm a car guy yet I was only excited about whipping around this same model elantra with like 22k on it as a rental. It felt like a go cart compared to all the family sized sedans my family owns, and a huge difference from my mercedes in ride/comfort. It was a pretty shitty car though and our mazda 3 which had some accident repair is a much better car than an Elantra. After posting this comment I did realize what you meant though. He is way into the details on this Elantra lol.

I've had two Hyundais and I'm convinced they make a great car at a very reasonable price. I've never owned a German luxury car but have many friends that have. They were very expensive to repair once the warranty expired. I'm talking thousands of dollars a yr. Some have switched to Japanese Luxury cars and I'm not hearing nearly the complaints. Me, I'd rather sock the money I save and retire at 55.

it's because of the high mileage. High mileage deprecate a cars vaule very quickly. My 09 Prius has a 164,000 miles on it and it's currently only worth $4,000 compared one with 89k miles on it would be worth 6k-7k

@@NorthernForester Don't get me wrong, the Elantra was a great car, but they can have their issues. They can be very good, or they can have issues like my mom's did. Other than the rod bearing issue, it was fine. Decently comfortable, sufficient power for its size, great gas mileage, and for a compact, it had a TON of space.

267k miles on my '99 camry that I bought when it was a year old with 14k on it... No engine or transmission issues aside from 2 valve cover gaskets and a throttle body complete cleaning off the car, 3 timing belts, 3 radiators, 2 cooling fan motors, 1 set of struts and motor mounts and tie rod ends. That's about it.... Original alternator, starter, AC parts (live in FL) and a repaint...

4 years ago I bought a 2007 seat cordoba 1.4 tdi for 1.700 euro with 157k miles on it. from a nissan dealership, no service history. No national car testing cert for 2 years. only needed tyres and 2 front control arms (costed about 400euro) it got tested without any problem at all after that. drove it for almost 2 years and sold it for 3.700euro :) clearly the dealership took it in as trade in and wanted it gone asap so got it at the same price they offered the customer when they brought it to them :)

Ehhh it's all highway miles. No biggie. Had a 1999 Toyota Corolla which had 412,000kms (or about 257,000 miles) when I gave it away to a family member. He ended up crashing it not too long after but it would have still been going today. 5000km oil changes, 4 new shocks at $65 a piece and 2 new CV axles, and plugs was all I did to it. Even the AC still worked.

Radical AM Any basic 4 cylinder car will do fine. Probably an Aisin tranny in this car anyway so it will be solid. If you want to be concerned with transmissions look no further than the units installed in many Hondas and Acuras. Between clutch pack failures to TC chatter no brand is void of issues. With Hyundais it seems the trim falls apart on some but mechanically they hold up just fine. Shit, I've seen high mileage Cavaliers on the road.

Hyundai & Kia are great cars today. My 2011 Hyundai sonata base model has more options than a base Mercedes, BMW, Acura & Infiniti of the same year. Style, comfort, gas mileage, power, tech package & great long warranty all for a cheaper price than the so called "luxury" brands; Bluetooth, Xm radio, mp3, steering wheel radio & phone controls, tire pressure monitor, power mirrors, telescopic steering, leather seats...the list goes on in the base model Sonata gsl. Camry, Accord and Altima are way overpriced for the same options.

It looks like that car had minor rear end damage in the past. The rear bumper looks like it may have been painted, especially when you go past the rear corner on the passenger side @ 3:56. Also, those tires are the WORST thing I ever had in my car. It came with them when I bought it and, even though they were brand new, I had to change them a day after buying it for a set of Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 because they simply couldn`t handle even a minor puddle at speed

Bumpers often look different colors from the rest of the car because they are plastic, but since it's a metallic color it could also be changing in the light. At around 3:52 you can see that it's the same color as the trunk but the trunk fades to the color of the side of the car.

MyNameIsPhil nah. My 2016 accent both front and rear bumpers are different shades of silver where my whole body is silver. Just how the paint lays on these bumpers. Look at any newer car very closely you'll drive yourself crazy trying to figure out why. That's just how it is unfortunately.

My 14 year old car has 217,000 miles on it and the interior is near perfect. It depends on how well the car was taken care of, not the amount of miles. To me it sounds like the owner used this for work so there were probably rarely people in anything but the driver's seat anyways

here's the funny thing. you're probably not old enough to remember when hyundai came to the US with the Accent. a total shitbox. It was like 6k or 8k in 1985 or so. one of its primary marketing strategies was to emphasize that it had a Panasonic stereo as if this meant he wasn't a cheap shitbox. in the intervening 30 years the Korean brands have really stepped up their game. a close friend had a bad wreck in a Sonata and walked away from it (turned in front of a speeding Mustang gt and was t-boned...in Florida). since your wife doesn't sound like a car person (yet) this is a good starter.

Watching this video made me smile. When we went to buy our Elantra around 10 yrs ago they had this exact colour on display in the showroom.. My wife immediately fell in love with it......but I thought it was a bit girly so I bought a silver one instead. She's never forgiven me ever since lol. I think it's a beautiful unique colour and really regret not buying it for her. So I hope your wife is enjoying hers Our Elantra is over 10yrs old now and has done over 100K and still drives like a dream. Great, reliable car

Yes the steering wheel looks good because it is not leather. It is a polyurethane wheel which is used for lower trim levels. Also, I don't think you should compare interior build quality in that way. Maybe the cars you bought in the past weren't that well looked after. This car isn't that old. It just has a lot of miles so I don't think the amounts of use correlates with the miles. A car with one owner who maybe had no passengers who also looked after their car will obviously look better than one who did.

Congratulations on a low cost reliable Elantra! I paid just over 20K but had it for over 8 years now w/ no issues. It's a 2013. I put one extra package on it which for 2013 they added heated seats w/ that package. My son in law had a 2013 new. Other than no heated seats, I saw the difference in the way his car steered compared to mine. But unless you have a 2013 you might not be unhappy w/ the steering at all. A great deal for you!. My 2013 GLS w/ 86K might be worth 7K if I were to sell it. Well maintained, looks great and same color as yours.
