I remember the first time I heard this song, at the time I wasn't used to extreme, growlers, etc, but wanted to open my musical horizons so I asked a friend for suggestions and Jinjer was in her list. Immediately drawn to Tati's aesthetics, I called gothic Cleopatra with a beautiful, crystal clear voice (now some have told me otherwise but I read she's a very skilled mezzo soprano, her high notes could be why she's called like this) but THEN her demon queen came in HARD and I literally jumped, startled at the sudden switch, till I paid more attention to her facial expressions and it's obvious when she's about to growl. She quickly became one of my favourite vocalists

Well, not really. The drummer joined after their last drummer had a horrible accident and couldn’t perform anymore. While rehearsing this song Vlad wanted to incorporate some new stuff, a little bit of jazz influences. The band thought it was very cool and changed the song quite a lot. So they decided to re record it, and that is what we get to experience. So it was not their first time playing together. But shortly afterwards

This is a unique song. There is some very sophisticated musicianship here. When she goes into the harsh vocals, they get louder and darker (and I think there's one shot where maybe you see the guitarist step on a distortion box or something) but the music does not abruptly veer off into hard rock; it still has that sort of jazz vibe. That to me is really different, to sing like that over that music. Really cool, really creative...

You hit the nail on the head. The vocals are from the original track with this performance layered on. The band is doing a bit of a rewrite, which was then run through production. This is not raw, live stuff. It was intended to show off Vlad joining the band and his interpretation of the song. It's a one off that just got picked up by reactors. The band has never denied this. Still amazing and beautiful. Haters gonna hate. Fanbois defend no matter what, and lovers just see the beauty inside. I love this band even when things have been not so great at some shows, but perfection is what they expect...lol! Tati knows.

It's pitch corrected. Check out Wings of Pegasus' channel, he analyzes music with the help of software. Maybe that doesn't matter to you, but it ruins it for me.
@dtpfeiffer9 ай бұрын
I'm curious as to why that ruins it for you. There are plenty of live concert videos that show how good they are. Tati may not always be perfect, but she sounds amazing in person and is seriously impressive as both a vocalist and performer.
@ikmor9 ай бұрын
@@dtpfeiffer I'll happily give you my reasoning. :) It ruins it for me because it's not clearly stated, making it a lie (which indeed the whole "live" word on their title of this music video already is, but at least the singer has gone on to say she's sorry it's named that way) This is not just a Jinjer thing, don't get me wrong. I get a bad taste in my mouth from lies, is all. The music industry, to go on within the topic, is full of pitch corrected and/or autotuned music now, and it makes me frustrated, sad and angry that it's just about capitalism. I don't want that in music. I want a little less greed and corporate lies, overall. A not perfect pitched voice, would be better for me, if they have to manipulate it by machine to get it "perfect" anyway. It costs the soul of it. So yeah, that's why it matters to me. :) I'm glad you asked the question! And thank you for being polite, there's a very negative thing going on on KZbin with so many people always ending their arguments/post with an insult. It's horrible.
@danielduffey86809 ай бұрын
I concur with the value of Fil’s breakdown of how this song was produced. Fil does not slam Jinger for it, he simply lays out what he is seeing and hearing. He is always generous with the artists he reviews, and if there is any blame to be cast he usually lays it on the production and marketing side.
@dtpfeiffer9 ай бұрын
@ikmor thanks for the detailed reply. 👍 I definitely think the title is misleading, even if it was recorded live in studio and then edited quite a bit. At least they mention it in the video description. The backing vocals are kind of obvious, but the pitch correction isn't.

It's brilliant song and ther is a lot of good stuff in it, but it's very far from being "live".
