The reciprocal link of giving glory to one another places the Father and the Son at the same level. In verse 2, it is Jesus Christ who gives life eternal to all mankind. Giving everlasting life is an exclusive divine prerogative. In verse 3, the Son calls the Father the Only true God and emphasizes that Life ETERNAL involves to know inseparably the Father and the Son: ''and this is Eternal Life, that they may Know You, the ONLY TRUE GOD AND JESUS CHRIST WHOM YOU HAVE SENT" (V3). In verse 5, JESUS CHRIST shares the Glory of the Father: ''And now, Ô Father, GLORIFY ME TOGETHER WITH YOURSELF, WITH THE GLORY WHICH I HAD WITH YOU BEFORE THE WORLD WAS''.
