Kurisu...Kurius. Also, SERN just needs to hold Okabe at gunpoint to make her do whatever they want
@adamlopez2275 Жыл бұрын
I was always in the "she just wanted to build it" camp. But, I think most people take for granted that Kurisu from the null timeline (0.000000) even knew Okabe and the future gadget lab. Given that the omega attractor field is generally accepted to be -0.XXXXXX, and everything we know about it from best girl's ending, I always thought there was a high possibility of the original time machine being built by a Kurisu that didn't meet the future gadget lab (or at least not before joining SERN). Given her academic history, my head-canon was that she published her work on time travel after her PhD, then just gets approached by SERN who offer her the money and resources to continue. She didn't even have to get involved in the shadier side of SERN and this is a fairly normal path for an academic (to just go to the place offering you the best conditions)

In a way when she worked for SERN, it also enabled Daru to work on his time machine, who else in the SERN dystopia would have the resources in order to build one but SERN, by working for them, Daru was able to get the tech he needed to complete his, thus Kurisu indirectly worked to help the FGL too.

yea i like this nice bit of irony in the story

IIRC, in The Distant Valhalla, Kurisu builds a time-machine because she is surrendering herself to fate, with the hope that Okabe can one day bring everyone to a better future. And in LBP, Suzuha theorizes that she built a time-machine because she wanted to change worldlines with a time-machine, one where Mayuri is alive. And in another route, Kurisu willingly builds it because she deceives herself into thinking that it is the right thing to do (sorta like a coping mechanism), since those who have power are suppose to use it for "good".

normally i dont like to take sequels and side stories into account for this kind of thing because they come written with hindsight which screws things up, but distant valhalla is in particular... not really well written lol

@@ALHY1O9 basically the part where they shot at okabe and then just let him go because he's apparently invincible according to fate which basically just derailed the entire worldlines thing by saying it's magic by contrast in the original, whenever okabe tries to run he hits a dead end because decision he could make is accounted for whereas here it's like decisions don't matter because magic basically

@@WeebJail The mayuri arc kind of sealed steins gate's future. It was amazing while we were all trying ot figure it out. But now that we know it exists, writing around it will be hard. Because we the audience, know it exists and don't want to watch a series about a literal plot armor man again. because again, we know it's there. It was the crux of the issue in the alpha time line and why okabe had to abandon that kurisu and his friends in that world line. so to try and recreate that magic or write without acknowledging it...feels pointless

the presentism in anime is weird. Nobody would bat an eye when someone goes into detail about Back to the Future for example, altough the first movie is almost 40 years old.

great vid underated channel. There were so many things going on in the anime that I didnt even realize something so simple. But the Distant Valhalla Kurisu theory from one of the comments here of her building the time machine to get okabe into the right world line is way cooler. (I didn't play the game)

The anime infers Kurisu either is mind controlled (referenced by suzuha) or perhaps is forced, considering Okabe dies in the future. A simpler answer is to look no further than the worldline logic. In every worldline except steins gate, someone in the future builds the time machine. The time machine's existence is probably a fixed event. In some worldlines, Daru makes it, in some Kurisu makes it, in SG 0 Maho even helps. So if it's a fixed event, changing worldlines would cause for someone to build it in the future.
@WeebJail Жыл бұрын
oh i probably should have mentioned that okabe also dies in the future, whoops lol. that's after she joined sern but that would have been good to bring up. anyway, worldline logic isn't an answer by itself. sure someone builds it but they still need a reason to build it. for example there's no worldline where mayuri builds a time machine.

@@WeebJail the other thing we're overlooking, which could be a retcon, is that kurisu get's mistaken for amadeus. since AI kurisu is responsible for time travel in SG 0, which is why okabe gets her deleted.

i sometimes forget that you are a comperativly small youtuber, the production value is just too good for you hanging there. so let's give the algorithm a little kick to promote your channel. great video as always, and it looks it's almost time to at least rewatch steins;gate again. Great video- love that Linear Bounded Phenogram is getting some love. One question (though I might just be stupid becuase I don’t remember sg0 that well), what does SERN building their time machine have to do with giving okabe a chance to save mayuri again? Isn’t Daru the one who built the time machine off Kurisu’s original thesis, which is then used for Suzuha to travel back in time? Since she already published the thesis, giving SERN a fully functional time machine doesn’t seem to help Okabe in any particular way.
