Good video! 🙏 I have a few counterpoints, but ultimately it doesn't really matter. I will say, though, that the Nae part isn't just dark and edgy for the sake of it. Sure, maybe on the surface it seems that way due to a throwaway scene you're likely to miss in the VN, but when you look at it in context, especially when you consider Mr Braun's own childhood... yeah, it really makes you realize the kind of life Nae would have to live. Is it any wonder she'd grow to become resentful? (In fact, the current storyboard fan-fic I'm working on is kinda about that.)

One more thing, The entire point of "It is Eren's Fate and Nothing can be changed" kind of ending is stupid. It is such a deterministic way of looking at life itself. Our choices in life do contextualize what happens in the future, it is stupid to be like - oh well, He couldn't do anything because, idk, its his stupid destiny....

This analysis completely ignores the uprising arc and what Eren went through during that arc. Yes, Eren has alaways had an irrational goal - kill his enemies and keep moving forward to kill further enemies, however, he completely gave up when it came to historia getting forced to comply with her father. This part seems completely forgotten by Isayama throughout the ending. And also the ending never suggests any similiar traits of the eren, in fact, it ruins eren's character as his entire motivation boils down to "I am an idiot" - an idiot who just wants to see humanity suffer and die, and after hearing this what does armin do? He fucking hugs him and tells him that he feels the same. The ending is truly garbage for these reasons. It felt like Isayama got tired of AOT and just wanted to end it so he closed the story in a half-assed plot-twisty way with no explanation...

this is exactly what id expect from an ending defender. The mental gymnastics are crazy. He literally says " now that he knows the truth of the world, he realizes that the only evil is not anyone living in the world, but the world itself" That makes absolutely no sense. The world itself? what the plants, the trees? Or is it the animals, or the mountains? The only thing evil about this world is humans. What kind of statements is that. But that's exactly what I see who say the ending is genius, they have these insane theories about meaningless things and ignore all mistakes and plot holes no matter what.

The Endless Eight to me, set us to be aware of Nagato's condition, which make The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya more impactful when you are observing the story from Nagato POV. I suggest reading the Light Novels, which has more details of course.

This entire video feels like cope. I understand wanting to have a good, poetic ending but this felt like a rushed downer because the writers were ready to be done, not a well crafted story about cycles. The theme of the show was that no matter what, you can’t break the resolve and determination inherent to humanity. Even when cynical and evil human attempt to crush it, it rises up. The ending will never feel satisfying because it feels like it gave up on its own theme in an attempt to get the story over with. That’s not even getting into plot holes and other major issues. Eren acts completely out of character throughout the entirety of the final season. You can say that his experience trying to change the outcome so many times changed him but this is never properly shown or explored so of course the viewers are going to be unable to comprehend it. Even if it was shown through a series of flashbacks or something, I can think of a dozen different routes that could’ve been taken so clearly he didn’t explore all of them. Every video like this one basically comes down to jumping through hoop after hoop to justify bad writing and reframe it as “secretly genius.”

Thank you for having the best video so far about the ending, here is my addition to this video: The ending of Attack on Titan is more than just the conclusion of a story-it’s a profound lesson about love, freedom, and breaking cycles of generational pain. Ymir Fritz, the origin of Titans, was enslaved by what I call "bad love"-a blind devotion to the King of Eldia that kept her bound even after death. Her entire existence reflects how love, when rooted in fear and servitude, becomes a prison. The pivotal moment comes when Ymir witnesses Mikasa’s ultimate act of love. Mikasa’s decision to end Eren’s life wasn’t just about stopping the Rumbling-it was about showing Ymir a love that’s selfless and freeing, not enslaving. For the first time, Ymir sees that true love isn’t about sacrifice at the cost of oneself but about respect and empowerment. This is symbolized by the scene where Ymir’s face is fully revealed, no longer hidden in the shadows. This moment is deeply relevant today. Many women are conditioned by society and family to glorify self-sacrifice, mistaking it for love. Ymir’s story, much like Dolores’ in Westworld, teaches us that breaking free from these cycles requires recognizing and rejecting these inherited patterns of servitude. Women, when working in harmony and embracing their inner strength, can achieve incredible things. Ymir’s unshaded face during Mikasa’s act of love symbolizes hope. In her next cycle-or metaphorically, in the lives of those who follow-she can choose a path of pure love, free from chains. This is a lesson not just for Ymir but for anyone trapped in systems of control disguised as affection. The Attack on Titan ending isn’t just about the Titans’ curse ending-it’s about breaking free from cycles of pain, learning the meaning of true love, and embracing freedom. It’s a lesson we need now more than ever.

The reason the show and story sucked is because it went nowhere at all, same with MHA. What was the end game and end goal for Haruhi, trick question there isn't one. Did we ever fight the time travelers, nope, did we ever get to fight alongside the ESPers, nope, did we ever fight the super computer that controlled Yukk? Nope, nothing. Did Haruhi and Kyon ever get it on and more, nope. If the show had a fun adventure type journey or end game it would have been remembered but it just had an obnoxious tard, an annoying guy, a hot chick with boobs, and us the viewer aka Kyon

nah. . It honestly seems like your criticisms are either nit picks(pride. speaking like an older woman), dumb(manipulator acts like a tsundere in order to manipulate a teenage boy), or frankly just strange(why should i care about subaru). I care about subaru since I've seen him succeed fail, grow, change, and chat. Same reason I care about anyone, real or fictional. Also while you're on point about betelgeuse/the great mawbeasts being shallow villains, its crazy to me that you don't even mention rowaal. I agree petlegeuse, and the mawbeast trio (white whale/great rabbit/big bad dogs) are shallow villains(i mean threre of them literally only think about eating) , but take your lord of the rings example, the villlian in this situation is actually subaru. The villain is his incompetence, self hatred, and twisted way of thinking, and his slothful past. All things he has to overcome in order to defeat these villains. And then you acknowledge that fact, and just sweep it under the rug??? now back to the idea that we know nothing about subaru, which makes it so he's hard to care about. Like what. You need a backstory to be invested? theres a reaosn most back stories happen well past a characters introduction, its like a math problem. X time y=subaru is far more interesting than saying Self hatred times high expectations=subaru. Thinking about the x and the y is waht makes the shhow engaging, and the eventual reveal in season 2 even more important. plot not going anywhere- subaru goes from nobody to maid to proclaimed knight, to hero, to depressed, to and actual knight. and that's just him. maybe you dont like how re zero has the type of mysteries(like rbd and satella) that progress hax been super slow on which is kinda fair, but more of a personal preference. why would meaning be lost if the death is violent? Isekai test: I honestly think the bad isekai test is a solid idea, but anyone whos seen re zero will immediately realize it passes it' 1:put subarus dad in, that stories gonna become a story with far less bloodshed, and misery put al in and hes letting arlam village, rem, petra, and frederica die. 2 the character of subaru could both never exist in a fantasy without the isekai element(him being a neet from japan is very key to his character) , and he could never develop in the same way back home(that story would be far more down to earth) the waifu shit-okay the echidna example is obviously dumb, and I will side with you on rem, while I like parts of her character, her waifu shiit detracts from her character a lot. Past that, no. All the royal candidates straight up just act like people, albeit strange people. And saying he and beatrice had no connection is just confusing. like come on.' the story doesn't revolve around subaru- we dont know why he's there/why hes important-the grand "story" is definitely not focused on the subaru, but the story doesent revolve around that story of satella destroying the world, and whatever happened 400 years ago. It is focused on this teenager attempting to save a girl he cares about. Just as how a story about my life would still revolve around me even if my effect on the world as a whole is minimal. he doesent matter, so he fails question 2? no actually why this make 0 sense. Calling subaru an everyman blank slate??? i huh?? SUbaru's got a personality alright, comparing him to some blanks late is craaaaazy. relatable is a better term. talking about subarus ability to succeed and have waifus around him- first of all subaru fails way more than he succeeds(i mean he dies for gods sake). To how re zero as a power fantasy of sorts, the one where everything works out, is to ignore the majority of the series-when shit hits the fan. like yes subaru eventually suceeds, but nothing about his success is easy, and none of it happens without struggle. The waifu point, ye rem is very much a waifu character post arc 2, but her care for him is very much earned, both through subarus actions and kind words. The rest just vibe with him(Ram) or are friends with him(emelia, beatrice) Sure subaru sees emelia as a waifu, but she never sees him that way, and that toxic idea of emelia a this perfect person is addressed in season 2. Overall- ya ignore stuff that goes against your argument(roswaal) You make claims with with either no evidence(subaru is a blank slate or nothing happens in the story) or weak evidence(waifu bad because of echidna) personal preferrence clearly is a major part of your argument(I can't care about subaru because we don't get a backstory or you dislike the pace of the mysteries getting revealed) re zero is an easy anime to depict as the worst of its genre. The main character ranges from annoying and cringy to detestable and selfish. He is surrounded by anime girls, and seems to succeed despite him being a useless neet. His abiility allows him to undo things, something which would in theory allow him to progress through sheer repetition, without growing in the slightest. You clearly see the show as more than that. You see that subarus actions are driven by a desire for heroics, you see that subarus actions are driven by his past, you understand he hates himself, and you understand that the deaths have meaning to subaru. yet you refuse to take that final step, and say you don't care. You watched 50 episodes of a show, and wrote a 30 minute script to talk about a show you don't care about. That is hours and hours of time. You criticize and criticize this show you claim you don't care about, and end the video with the claim that it's greatest flaw was not giving you a reason to care. I am writing this for myself, because I care.(I also enjoyed writing it) I am not writing it for you or anyone else. So I ask you, who did you write this video for? If you don't care about this show, why criticize it so heavily, why write so many words about it, why record yourself talking about it? At the end of the day, this was hardly even a video about isekai. You talk about it with ascendence of a bookworm, but you only bring it up a few times with re zero as a justification of your dislike of the show. past minute 8 you barely bring up ascendance of a bookworm, and the real topic of the video, re:zero is revealed. And you claim to not care. You say it failed a test you created(One anyone whos seen the show knows it passes). If one is clear, it's that you care about re zero, about how it's told, who it's about, about its world, and its characters, and about its plot. Claiming otherwise, is just plain disingenuous.

I’m still so upset that she ended up with Gilbert and how no one seems to see how gross it is. He raised her, clothed her, taught her how to read and named her. He acted as her father and he fell in love with a stunted child when he was a grown man, and then he got together with her when he was 32 and she was 18. I had hoped she would go traveling, go explore different cultures and discover more about herself. If she should’ve gotten together with anyone, it should’ve been Leon (or maybe even Amy), being around her age and sharing her curiosity for the world. Instead, the author and anime made her marry and live out her days with a man who was essentially a well-disguised creep. Everyone’s first love is familial love and that could’ve been a great support to Violet’s story, her dealing with the loss of safety and home she felt with her surrogate father that she doesn’t understand. Instead, she marries him🫠

Echidna talks like that because she has seen into Subaru's memories and knows what kind of girl appeals to him. And she does it because she wants to increase her chances of actually making a contract with him. In Season 2 Episode 13, after he denies the contract, she goes back to being herself and the change is impossible to miss. That is the scene in which Subaru asks her about Beatrice and what she thinks of Betty being stuck for 400 years. So, yeah, she is being waifu for a reason and it baffles me that someone as smart as you actually missed it. After that scene, she never acts like a waifu ever again
