As Somalis we have alot of issues to deal with such as terrorism, famine but our main problem is tribalism. It is so rife within Somali society such that if there were two candidates one who is clearly a brutal dictator and another who is open-minded and has a vision to stabilise the country, you would find people still voting for the dictator. When you ask why the answer is "Well....because he is from my tribe and the other one is not" This is the mentality that stifles stabilisation within Somalia

It's like everyone's more focused on representing their own clan than coming together as one united country. It's like we're still stuck in the past, refusing to move forward and work together towards a common goal. We could achieve clan unification. To achieve unification, all sides need to come to a mutual understanding and agreement on issues such as power-sharing, resource allocation, and governance structures. This would require negotiations and compromise from all sides. Somalis have a hard time seeing the bigger picture sometimes. We need to do better. We can't keep fighting over land and clans forever. It's starting to feel like some sort of gang warfare.

the ogaden region is filled 100 % with somalis the somali population is also a lot higher than Google says prolly around 40 million 20 million in ogaden 4 million in Djibouti and another 2 million in the northeast region of Kenya. The United States and Europe are supporting Ethiopia simply because Somalia is a Muslim country and so that it can stay destabilized so they can keep their monopoly over the strategic bab al mandeb strait. The United States and Saudi Arabia were actively funding al qaeda and the cia created them the al shabaab militants are al qaeda which is directly being funded by US and Saudi Arabia. Also back in the Ogaden war the somali forces took the whole ogaden region and then the soviet union sent more than a billion in support of the ethiopian establishment 150 soviet generals Cuba sent 24000 troops n the US gave somalia a 100 million which is nothing compared to the opposition also during that time before the US made a deal(fake) with the somalis they were giving Ethiopia the most guns and ammunition so that it could be a cold war ally and suppress the Muslim state of somalia. Now the US is droning civilians in somalia to fight the terror group they created with the saudis and are funding in order for somalia to stay destabilized until they can install a puppet that's gonna let them take the resources

There is actually some very strong evidence that foreign aid can be very unhelpful, depending on what it is and who it goes to. If the country isn't already democratized then foreign aid (if given to the government to distribute) will tend to delay democratization and make people's lives worse in the long run. The reason is that those in power, rather than distributing the aid fairly, hold on to it and use it to buy loyalty and strengthen their hold on power. Foreign aid (if it comes in the form of goods rather than money) can also have the effect of weakening the local economy by out competing local businesses for the goods being distributed (as an example: never donate to organizations that send shoes to Africa, as that reduces business for local shoe stores and doesn't really help people all that much anyway). However, foreign aid does have the potential to be extremely helpful, if we could just get a good system going for what kind of aid to give and who to give it to. Theoretically the most effective kind of aid would be direct monetary payments to the people affected by whatever crises the aid is meant to alleviate. That would jumpstart local economies by giving people the resources they need to start businesses and become active consumers. In practice it may not be entirely practical for foreign governments and organizations to give aid directly to the people, and will find it necessary to give it to the local government to distribute. I think it is very important that if aid is given directly to a local government, then it is essential that the government has already democratized. Democratic governments are far more likely to spend foreign aid money as intended than autocratic governments. Little if any of the money given to an autocratic government will be spent as intended, and will usually only serve to delay democratization.

@AK_14564
@AK_14564 3 жыл бұрын
Its stupid to say tgat giving aid to countries prevent them from growing. It shows you have never lived under circumstances for help. First of all the aid supplied is not even close to the demand to destroy local economies. On the contrary because this vital things are rare they get overpriced and you end up paying a slice of bread 100$. Aid helps lower the cost for basic things. Secondly if you have ever been to the position to need external aid to survive, then you would know that there isn't a thing you hate more than the fact you are dependent on that aid. These systems are not even close to consistent. One day the may have food to give the other not. It is not something you can rely on. For most people, actually managing to get the aid is a veeery rare occasion that happens only when they are lucky because of the high demand. So no, aid does not make people lazy or prevents economies from developing.

the ogaden region is filled 100 % with somalis the somali population is also a lot higher than Google says prolly around 40 million 20 million in ogaden 4 million in Djibouti and another 2 million in the northeast region of Kenya. The United States and Europe are supporting Ethiopia simply because Somalia is a Muslim country and so that it can stay destabilized so they can keep their monopoly over the strategic bab al mandeb strait, where more than 10% of the worlds trade passes through ships can't get to Europe or America from Asia without going through here.

@@geletoz Isaaq have always lived in Somaliland, that is because they actually are Somali as in they descend from Samaale (like Gadabuursi, Hawiye, and Rahanweyn) Darood claim to be from Arabs, therefore they came to Somalia as refugees. While Isaaq have a peaceful and stable country welcoming to all Somalis as there are many Gadabuursi, Hawiye, Dhulbahante, and Rahanweyn happily living in Somaliland. Somalia is driven into chaos by Majeerteen (and Darood) wanting to dominate all the other clans. Somalia has the terrible 4.5 systems which gives Darood (the smallest Somali clan) more power than larger clans like Hawiye and Rahanweyn. If Hawiye and Rahanweyn were to establish their own countries, they would be successful, but Majeerteen don't want that because then they would be the only failed state in Somalia.

To clarify the collapse in food was due to forgien overfishing in Somali waters. This was also why many fishermen would end up engaging in Piracy. In the early 1980s it was a mix of European and eastern fishermen but by the 1990s the bulk of illegal fishing was done by the Chinese. Which is why the country has never been able to solve it's food problem.

It's a huge misconception that all of the former British Somaliland declared Independence as the Republic of Somaliland. Not all of them did they were many clans with independent cities in the north that still wanted unity with Somalia. That's why the autonomous state of Puntland controlled 30% percent of the Somaliland's self declared territory and the newly formed Khautmo State also just recently kicked Somaliland out of their Dhulbahante clan inhabited territory. Somaliland only claims the entire North because they think they're entitled to all the former British Somaliland colonial boundaries.

After he was reported by a coworker to a rogue clan, they kidnapped his two sons, and held them for ransom. Now, they all live here in the US. My friend works as an accountant again. I agree, it is an absolute tragedy what happened to this country. A republic with a chance at potentially great prosperity was trashed and ripped apart by Soviet meddling and incited tribal/clan warfare (China allied with their dictator for a time too from what I've read). Horrifying how many countries the Soviets ruined with their obsession for power and influence (China, North Korea, Cuba, Somalia, Ethiopia, the list is a long one).

Two she isn't anti-semitic and she made bad comments with poorly chosen words. What she actually said had a lot of truth to it and the fact that you think she is anti-semitic is proof that you care about her wording than what she was actually talking about. She specifically was talking about pro-Israel sentiments in the US allowing the Israeli government to commit acts against Palestinians. Also, she has defended several other Jewish members of government on several occasions. Also, you wanna talk anti-semitism look at the top rep that said a Jewish space laser started the California wildfires.

We wanted and still want all our people under one flag/nation. The Europeans knew our wishes, our self-determination calls, our history in the region, and our relations with the bordering peoples, they consulted us before independence as if they were genuinely interested in the fate of our people post-independence, and then they went the other way when it was time to deliver by ignoring the unanimous wish of the Somalis in the areas outside the Somali Republic, they outright rigged referendums in some places and they invited non-Somali ethnic groups close by to have a say on whether we Somalis and our ancestral territories should be allowed to unite or not. The truth is, the borders left by the Europeans doomed our people to marginalization and brutalization right next door at the hands of our age-old foes, and the world expected the newly independent Somali Republic to just look the other side as if nothing was happening. Mind you, some of the so-called neighboring countries were lobbying hard against the very idea of an independent Somali nation in postcolonial Africa before its birth, it is people with this hostile view towards Somali sovereignty and independence that we were asked to find a common ground with.
