"now there is only one princess" implies the existence of multiple princesses some time ago, of which ranni is the last one
@JackisaMimic
@JackisaMimic 4 ай бұрын
Correct, but that doesn’t indicate that Ranni had sisters, just that at some point there were more princesses when Ranni was alive or before her birth. The statement “now there is only one princess” is true whether it meant that there were multiple princess during or before Ranni’s life. From my perspective, since this was a world written by GRRM, it’s that there is a lineage of Queens and Princesses, not just one singular Queen and multiple daughters like a beehive. The items that refer to long standing traditions and heirlooms being passed down indicate that being the case.

It might be iffy to suggest that a whole age has happened between the death of Godwyn and the Shattering. It's one of the few direct things we get, and that's the story trailer. We're told that the rule of death was stolen, and that demigods began to fall, first of them being Godwyn the Golden. The literal next sentence is "The shattering ensued". If it's a whole age, "ensue" would definitely not be the word used

The information comes from Rogier’s dialogue: “Of the black knives plot. As that famed night of assassination is known. It happened during the Golden Age of the Erdtree, long before the shattering of the Elden Ring.” The way they speak about events leaves out the amount of time that has passed, it would be like if I said, “The English colonized the Americas and then there was a revolution where the colonists revolted.” That’s a true statement but leaves about roughly 200 years of history. The Golden Age of the Erdtree is the age of Godfrey, and the Elden Ring was smashed, presumably, towards the end of the Radagon’s Age “of Fundamentalism” because after the shattering of the Elden Ring, Marika/Radagon are imprisoned in the Erdtree. Hope that explanation makes sense. Thank you for the comment!

Omg this dropped so fast. I’m shocked a bit! I absolutely adore that you have a black cat named Luna and that she made an appearance amidst the discussions of the Carians and their matriarchal system. I’m so glad someone is finally platforming the idea that the Carians are more than just what you get on the surface in the KZbin lore community. Bringing it back to my comments on your previous video, at the risk of sounding in any way cringe, I think the relationship between women, night, the moon and it’s cycles are all very important to the story and structure of the Carians. I think you were quite right when you said the full moon, the dark moon, the black moon and the crescent moon are all different but aspects of the same thing. Even the eclipse is very powerful, Influential and relevant in much of the lore of the lands between. The cyclical nature of time, of nature, of people and history. I think that is the theme upon which a lot relating to the Carians is built. Which is the theme that I think you’re hitting on quite eloquently when you’re highlighting that the stargazer medallion certainly applies to Queen Rennala, but that doesn’t mean they’re actually talking about Queen Rennala. Renna, Rennala, Ranni. At one point Ranni even names herself Renna to us. Like the moons they’re associated with, they may be different aspects of the same thing. Whether that’s a family or a cyclical iteration of a being or essence or even quite simply the inheritance of powerful that cycles through phases as it transcends from one Carian princess to the next. I also think there is definitely some kind of connection between the albinaurics not being able to use their legs and strangely, we don’t ever see any of the carian lineage use their legs either. Ranni is a puppet who is only ever sat here or there until you bring about the age of the dark moon. Then you finally see her standing for once. But neither Ranni nor Rykard or even Radahn ever use their feet for as far as we see them. Like you said, even Rennala only stands when we fight the iteration of her that is clearly an apparition. Radahn’s feet are even invisible. Whether or not they were scraped away by eons of rubbing against sand, or they simply rotted away, or they’re slowly disappearing like the albinaurics, it’s certainly an interesting detail. But the relationship between the Carians, the Nox/Numen and Marika I think might have something to do with the detail that each of the demigods is in some way the dirext offspring of Marika. I know I’m jumping around incoherently as well but I think something about the cyclical theme of much of the story and time within it as well as cycles of systems of power etc is also related to the finger slaying blade, it’s place in Nokstela, the fact the Ranni is keenly aware of not only it’s existence but it’s usefulness and the fact that the Elden beast turns Radagan’s body into a large sword that looks incredibly similar in design to the finger slaying blade. Also how are Radagan and Marika actually physically the same person occupying the same space but we fight Radagan and he is turned Into a sword but somehow Marika’s body is still there and we can place her head back on her shoulders and watch the golden glitter fall away from her? For some reason I think all of these things are related and connected and I just can’t seem to piece them together in a way that makes sense. Another KZbinr, Jarhed, proposed a usurper theory in which he suggests that Radagan is Marika because Radagan is using “Marika’s mischief” type shape shifting to puppet as Marika to the rest of the world, manning her seat of power whilst simultaneously keeping her imprisoned in the erdtree. The reason why she turns into him but is still there after he is turned into a sword is because he was turned into the sword but she wasn’t. There are so many questions and I can’t wait to hear your perspective on so many of them. Sorry I went a bit nutters, I’m really sleepy and I guess I got carried away! Thanks for the great content between content!!

Luna is my baby girl, when Im at my desk she is either sitting on my lap or sleeping on the desk to the side. Any voice over or video you see of me she is somewhere off frame. Glad that this perspective resonates with you. As we know, the Astrologers and Carians have a connection to the Nox, and to that extent, the Numen. It's very interesting that the Eternal Queen Marika is also Numen, this matriarchal stargazing culture (with an adjacency to moon worship) is so pervasive, yet the story paints its masculine counterpart as a tree and not some other celestial body associated with masculinity (hint hint for my next video, two pieces are needed to make an eclipse 😉) As for cycles, well the first item we receive in game says it plainly: Memory of Grace - It is merely a cycle. Stand before the Elden Ring. Become the Elden Lord. You posted a lot for me to digest so I can't answer everything yet, but I do appreciated being able to read this. But as for the Usurper theory: puppetry and mimicry are very important to Elden Ring, and I do think it's at play, but I don't see Radagon, or even Marika, as the villains or the puppet masters. Stay tuned for a future video where I explain further. I'm glad you liked this sort of video, I just wanna talk about Elden Ring and making something cohesive can be time consuming so this is to hold me over more than it is to hold anyone else over lol Get your rest and have a happy and safe new years!

@@JackisaMimic I can’t wait. I agree. I don’t see Marika as a villain at all. In fact, I think she’s been playing the long game and has been wanting to repel the influence of the greater will for some time, which is why she formulated a plan that’s been playing out since before we returned to the lands between. I think I liked the follow up more than the original video. Going through all the relevant item descriptions so plainly makes it easy to form your own opinion. When you begin to collect and organize all the dialogue in the game the story becomes more obvious it's just that elden ring is such a behemoth of a game that doing so is daunting.

I heard a theory that Radagon came into existence at the end of the war of the Fire Giants. Hear me out, Merika splitting into Radagon is not her doing, but the Fell God. His Remembrance weapon makes a connection to the Fire Giants and Radagon having the same fiery red hair and that Radagon despises his hair color. The theory is that before Merika slew the Fell God, he cursed her to split in spirit. Kind of as a last middle finger to Merika for cursing the last Fire Giant to eternally guard the Kiln.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I will say this, Radagon is Marika which makes the inverse true Marika is Radagon, are they separate characters or the same character using different names? I’m not sure, and I don’t know if we can be certain yet.
@Memnoch_the_Devil
@Memnoch_the_Devil 4 ай бұрын
I actually agree that Radagon is a product of the Fire Giants and not Marika. If you think about it, Marika’s prison sentence is not unlike what she had done to the last Flame Giant. Cursed to hold something in place until someone strong enough can come along to put an end to them. And with Radagon being the only one capable of moving about in her body, it appears he was the victor of their Tyler Durden issues. It also seems like Gods have a way to reincarnate some that die into mirrored versions of their former selves in order to have someone doing their bidding from the outside. And the offspring all have just as much in common with their ‘parent’ as they do to the God that they are associated with. We see Millicent born of Malenia by the God of Rot. We see Hyetta born of Irina by the Flame of Frenzy. We see Melina reborn of the Gloam Eyed Queen by Marika. And we see Radagon born of the Fell God of the Fire Giants.

I think the Great Hood is implying that Esgar thought the Blood Star was the Full Moon, which is why he goes to worship the Formless Mother
@JackisaMimic
@JackisaMimic 4 ай бұрын
If the Greathood we find actually belonged to Esgar From the Greathood: “Hood far larger than the head it is meant to cover. A burial shroud of sorts for those who discover, at long last, the truth they sought.” It’s the truth sought by the person who wore the hood, IMO. For this particular person in the Mountain Tops his truth was searching for what he believed was Rennala’s Full Moon. While Esgar also carries the Lord of Blood Exultation, proving that his truth is that of the Lord of Blood and not the full moon. But even here he finds a “false” truth, because Esgar is near sewer Mohg, who is a projection created by Morgott and not the real Mohg found in Mohgwyn. I think it’s supposed to imply that he was satisfied enough to die, even though what he found wasn’t legitimately true, it was true enough for him. When looking at items in Elden Ring we can define ownership but their can be duplicates of items that have different owners, and from their we can interpret meaning. Hope you understand my perspective on this, thank you for commenting and have a happy new year!!!

Torrent could have been passed down from Marika to Miquella. Either that or the steed we see Miquella riding could be another spirit steed. I'm of the opinion that Marika was Torrent's original master, along with the spirit bell and the 3 wolves ashes, same 3 wolves shown in Farum Azula. Something definitely happened between us and Marika in the past.
@JackisaMimic
@JackisaMimic 4 ай бұрын
That is entirely possible, I do think there are overlaps between the goals of Marika and the goals of Miquella, but I think Marika’s intentions are manifested through Melina and Miquella’a intention are more subversive. I’ll give you an example: if you defeat the grafted scion at the start of the game and you run towards to cliff that breaks and you fall to your death, you may notice there is floating Nascent butterflies (🦋) hanging over the edge, enticing you to run to your death. Afterwards, Torrent and Melina find your body and Torrent chooses you. I am working on a “Hidden Hand of Miquella” theory at the moment for down the line but that is one example. As for the wolves: Emrpyeans and Wolves have a very tight connection: just think about every place wolves show up. That statue, I think is either representing Marika or maybe the first Empryean, or both. It’s definitely something to think about. Thank you for the comment and your insight!
@redheadsilver8041
@redheadsilver8041 4 ай бұрын
@@JackisaMimic I agree with what you described. I view Miquella as a subversive agent of sorts. He has his own agenda and if cut content if any indication, he has some "Griffith vibes", "Thou art mine". I wonder if he profited from Godwyn's demise either by already being alive by the time of his half death or by retroactively investing in a political narrative of convenience by associating himself with Godwyn, in order to claim legitimacy, aka the statues of "dear brother Godwyn sheltering him and Malenia", because they both are the legitimate successors. Did not notice the nascent butterflies. My view on the start of the game is that several actors are waiting for us to be the catalyst of their fates, they want our favor, we are their possible "kingmaker". Case in point with Ranni, she talks as if she expects someone like us and the way she talks it's as if she doesn't expect much from an acquaintance of "Torrent former master", almost as if she and that person aren't on good terms, hence her obfuscation by not naming that person. She even tells she doesn't expect us to see her again, almost as if she expects animosity from us and later on she is genuinely surprised to see us in her tower. She even tests our resolve by trying to scare us through the revelation that she enacted the NOTBK. I think Marika informed both of them of our eventual arrival. For Ranni, Marika, or Melina (in my opinion a shard of Marika's soul) asked her to deliver the spirit bell to us and the 3 wolves spirit ashes. As for Miquella, I would not be surprised if he gives us some cryptic or nuanced statement of expecting someone like us to help him, that and he may tell us he's been helping us in a subtle manner since our arrival. Still, I don't think Marika would have informed them of more specific details concerning past events, only that "important person is coming, help him/her or become a sacrifice to him/her". Varre may have killed our maiden, but he is a pawn in a larger plan. I think we are stuck in a paradox. Marika knows this. She knows that eventually someone important will arrive and she knows that it's someone who is maidenless thus, by eventuality, the tarnished who doesn't have a maiden, is the fated tarnished and Varre unwillingly gave us the marker that we are that tarnished. Well, that and Torrent, who clearly knows who we are, he clearly recognized us when he sniffed us, he and Melina are at the chapel of Anticipation (funny name right?) to "sniff out" that chosen tarnished by fate/paradox. I would like to give you a link to Archive Works to get your opinion on a theory I've created. But youtube doesn't like links and deletes the associated comment... :(

Great to know! I am planning on doing two types of videos: lore videos that use drama and story telling as a way to present my theories (think Vaati’s prepare to cry series) and then more casual videos that are more akin to a free flow of thought discussion video with my face cam. When I’m on screen there will probably be music that I like playing, I’m sharing not just my ideas and my presence, but also the music that means a great deal to me. When I’m not on screen it’s just for the lore and story of Elden Ring, detached from me as a person. So, if this isn’t the type of video you like, don’t worry, my main focus is traditional lore videos like my Rennala video, but production takes long for those gathering the right shots and drafting a script that is coherent.

happy new year mate ! i think you overthink a bit too much, Rennala is the only queen of caria, the first as miriel says and the last as Ranni, current heir to the carian throne says. because she doesnt want to be queen of caria but god of the next age. the story written on the talisman is the exact one miriel tells you. the story of a young girl whom encountered a moon, became the prodigy of the academy, bewitch everyone by strenght (the strenght of her powerful magic) and became queen of a region. rennala is indeed thousands years old. as every character we encounter since there's no new life in the current age. About ranni being the only carian princess while rogier talked about princesses probably means that rennala had kids prior the her marriage to Radagon (many suspects Sellen to be one of those princesses). but that's theory. About Rennala being very old and beautiful, don't forget she has knowledge on mimicry and rebirth so everything's possible
@JackisaMimic
@JackisaMimic 4 ай бұрын
Happy New Year to you too! I would reread Miriel's dialogue again, he doesn't mention the history of Caria, or even that much about Rennala. He mostly speaks on Rennala as she was when marrying Radagon, and her state after he departed. He doesn't corroborate the Stargazer Heirloom, nor does the Stargazer Heirloom mention anything about the Academy, I think you're conflating the item description of the Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen. Remember that the Heirloom tells the Legend of A Queen, while the Remembrance is that of Rennala specifically. I think there is some confusion about how life and death work in Elden Ring. People living long lives is a very abnormal thing, so much in fact that in the character creator Numens are specifically mentioned of having long lives and being short lived. Destined Death, via the Rune of Death, was removed from the Elden Ring but that is after specific sets of events at a specific point in the timeline, life and death as we would expect did exist at some point. But I think we can agree Rennala is beautiful ;) Thank you for the comment, I hope you will reconsider my perspective, but if not please stick around for more videos and discussion!

Before I start watching, my personal theory is that Rennala was in fact in a relationship with Marika, not Radagon. If a mere sculptor was able to glimpse Radagon's true nature, surely Rennala would know as well - and at that point, who's to say which persona was she in a relationship with? Also, the stakes of Marika are removed from Liurnia, while Radagon's statues remain. Removing the stakes strikes me as an act of jealous wrath, which I feel should be directed at the person who betrayed you, and again, Rennala must have known about Radagon/Marika duality. Tell me then, why would she be mad at Marika specifically
@JackisaMimic
@JackisaMimic 4 ай бұрын
I agree with the first part, after all, Radagon is Marika. Therefore the inverse should be true. Marika is Radagon. X = Y is the same as Y = X. We don’t know why the stakes were removed or who removed them. After all, it could have been the Sorcerers of the Academy and not Rennala, we have no way of knowing.

@@JackisaMimic That's true, but correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the only instance of the stakes being removed in the game and so there should be a significant reason for it, and the whole divorce thing feels like one. I agree it's conjecture though and there's no direct evidence

They could have been removed by Rennala due to animosity against Marika, if she did not know Radagon is Marika. From my perspective, I do think Radagon/Marika did care for Rennala at some point and wasn’t /just/ using her(but totally using her for a specific purpose) It’s hard to say how aligned the goals of Rennala and Radagon/Marika are, and how Ranni’s intervention during the NOBK could have been a foil to their plans, or apart of it.

@@Memnoch_the_Devil Thanks for getting back with a comment! I think we would have a disagreement, while I am not firm in what I think the significance is on the naming of the towers are, I do not think that Melina is a sister to Rennala. Plainly, I think Melina is one of Radagon and Marika’s children. I don’t see Melina being sister to Rennala, making her an aunt to Ranni. One of the main points I pushed in this theory is that Rennala is not the first Carian Queen, her and her daughters goals are generational and tied to their culture, and that being a Carian Queen is a title that can be held by many people. I would expand that perspective further, if being a Carian Queen is determined by a specific set of parameters (lineage, tradition, ect) then other royal titles can as well. We know there can be multiple Empryeans and multiple Elden Lords, could there be multiple Gloam Eyed Queens? Melina could be the original GEQ, or maybe she’s part of the same lineage and can fulfill the role of GEQ. It’s hard for me to say now, but please stay tuned.
