My ancesters migrated from southern Ireland during the irish famine in the 1840/50s. The families were called Corcoran, Flynn, Mather, Haley. They lived in the streets around Leeds market. Very hard life, but better than starvation they would have faced in Ireland had they stayed in their homeland. Great video.

how about people that were evicted from their homes in the countryside because of the appropriating of what was their common land? They were poor on the countryside, but the land was theirs and life was cheap. In the cities you had to pay for everything and you would hope prices didnt suddenly go up. Not all went out of free will to the cities
