@ Dear Freddy, I’m so glad you have found doctors you can trust for your surgery and especially, for your aftercare. Unfortunately, I have read of some patients whose aftercare consisted of multiple trips to the ER, a space not really designed for the type of care needed. I would recommend to anyone who is contemplating this type of complex surgery- be sure to find a doctor who is interested in your care and who will be responsive to your needs. Do this BEFORE the surgery, give yourself the ability to achieve the best possible outcome. The aftercare can be prolonged and deserves the same attention as the decision to have surgery. I wish you joy, Freddy, and a happy, healthy, life!

Medicine is becoming the Wild West with people being able to get drugs online without even seeing a doctor face to face. We commonly see this with hormones, ozempic, ADHD/depression/anxiety medicine, Ketamine therapy and topical drugs. And people are more educated about these drugs with the internet. And typically I don't add the QIA+ to the acronym, not trying to be mean but because i follow the gender binary system. i always expressed that she shouldn't need to punish her body by binding her chest or wearing baggy pants. but i also see this among my everstr8 gal pals. one of my friends went to an all girls school k-12, but even with so much female reinforcement growing up, she didn't feel comfy in her own body either, until college.

I’m glad you decided to accept yourself. I find it frustratingly sad how much of their time, emotional energy, and resources young people are directing at deciding what they “identify” as . . .ie: pretending to be, rather than at doing the things that are productive, building skills, relationships, and doing what twill bring them happiness prosperity and success in life. I read a comment by a young woman saying how much less anxious and depressed she was once she realized she was a woman, after spending the previous 4 years agonizing over wether or not she was non-binary, bi, straight, lesbian, trans, or whatever, and spending her time as an activist (whatever that is, a busybody or a bully or a preacher). What a waste of her time and energy. It reminds me of the young woman college student wearing a baggy grey sweatshirt yelling at the lecturer over and over “I am not a woman”. yet she is still, and will always be, a woman. If you are something, that’s what you are, it’s not an identity you adopt. And no one is assigned a sex at birth, what a ridiculous concept. And . . . Wearing pants doesn’t make you a boy, just like wearing a dress doesn’t make you a girl. A tree is a tree even if someone wants to manipulate the English language and call it a table. Sex is determined at conception and observed and described at birth (or during a prenatal ultrasound) using the words boy or girl (if communicating in English). I have helped babies be born for 15 years, and every one has been either a boy or a girl. And all amazingly different in their individual appearance and personality. Vive la difference !!!

as a dentist and soon to be orthodontist, who's part of the medical world, I can assure you that many doctors see health as a business. sure, there are professionals who are truly angels, and there are many others who love to work on mentally unstable people - those are cronic patients, always getting something done and always giving them money. the pharmaceutical industry works just like that as well. they don't care WHY you're getting that tummy tuck or your genitals removed and they won't care to seek you professional help and therapy first. no. they want you to be sick and troubled, that gives them money.

I suppose if you got caught out by your period while not at home, without a tampon, you'd sooner "reach for a tampon in the boy's bathroom" rather than have bloody trousers. I think the latter would be much more dysphoria inducing than the former. Nobody wants to end up out in public with bloody trousers just because you forgot to have a spare tampon stashed in your pocket (or car or backpack or manbag or whatever).

Also, they would probably make sure they are alone in the men's room before reaching for that tampon.

I still remember the 17 year old boy who got bottom surgery as part of that National Geographic special on gender a few years ago. It was so disturbing. The surgeon who did the surgery was also transgender. Somehow I feel that this young man did not get a truly impartial assessment into his mental health and why he wanted to get such a drastic permanent surgery done. Also with this case, I recall he was only 1 year into identifying as trans, and he had an identical twin brother. Interestingly, there was a similar case with a well-known young transwoman (now actor) in Australia. Also, one of identical twin boys. It makes you wonder if they just wanted to be seen as different or individual to their parents in some way, and this was the way in which they did it. Very sad.
@Everlucky_CloverАй бұрын
jazz jennings is also a sad case. his mum totally drove that trans bus through hell and back to keep him braineashed and mentally dumb to it all. got bottom surgery when there LITERALLY wasnt enough genital tissue to even make proper lady bits out of because puberty blockers left jazz with kindergarten child sized genitals. they tried to do that surgery until literally no viable genital tissue was left at all. jazz and people in his situation is why i refuse to agree with any kind of transition treatmeny until adulthood. with therapy until then to make sure its still beneficial to transition after the normal body dysmorphia phaze that being a teenager naturally does is over.

As a retired therapist, it’s truly heartbreaking to see so many people who are given surgery after one mental health evaluation. Years ago, it was done the right way. Years of therapy then social transition then hormones, etc. Done step by step over many years so that true issues were screened out. And there were very few people who actually ended up at the end of the process. This period of time will be looked back on as barbaric, just like we look back on when they did lobotomies.

it's not that surprising to me. in some countries, you cannot legally change the sex on your national ID until you get bottom surgery, so my trans friend has told me. also, i liked drawing models growing up, actually who doesn't? but whether you have a tool or not makes a big difference in your inner thigh creases. i think depending on a man's size, tucking might not always disguise them enough to pass.

That’s true. Some countries require to have surgery done to change the id. From what I heard from my activist friends: In china, you need a diagnosis from the doctor for "Gender identity disorder” and a proof of surgery from the clinic to legally change your sex on the id. And even a diagnosis like that is extremely hard to get, most of the time the doctors just try to talk you out of it or even send you to conversion therapy. There are some trans rights associations in China that published a list of trans-friendly psychiatrist for people to get “diagnosed” without getting sent to conversion camp. Unfortunately many people choose to cheap out by going to Thailand for gender affirming surgery (many trans people were marginalized and in a very bad financial position). If you cheaped out on such important things, you could imagine the quality of the surgery might not be so great.

No one should be afraid of that. Saying that mammals can't change sex is not transphobic, it's simply true. I've got an (ex) best friend of 34 years who was so outraged when I raised the exact same kinds of concerns, and criticisms as does Marcus, that he called me out publicly as a transphobe, unkind, an ultra conservative, and best of all, a homophobe (ps I'm gay, and so is he). He then unfriended and blocked me. We were once roommates and i travelled to the other side of the continent to see him for a week before the pandemic because he's dieing. Nonetheless, simply saying trans women aren't women was enought for him to end 34 years of friendship, literally, overnight. So, being called transphobe doesn't bother me one tiny bit. I'm not the problem. Peope like him who've joined the trans cult and drunk the kool-aid are the problem. I've zero f*cks to give for their cries of transphobe. Let 'em cry. It’s definitely a tough situation and I’m not against transition I’ve been taking hormones for over 8 years and I’m definitely happier being seen as a “woman” even though I am still male and that will never change. As for your kid if they’re under 18 you can definitely get involved as far as therapy and medical treatment. If your kid is over 18 all you can really do is encourage therapy. I think if you’re feeling suicidal then there is more than just the trans issue going on and mental health needs to be addressed before hormones. Transitioning is mentally taxing as well as you’re messing with your hormones and that’s going to affect your mood as well. Even if you’re in a great frame of mind I think everyone going through transition needs therapy and ideally not a gender affirming therapist. I unfortunately had affirming therapist and doctors and while I’m happy with my choice to transition i was still left with other mental health issues that I never dealt with or was over addressed in therapy and basically was old the idea that transitioning would solve my mental health issues and it did health with Gender Dysphoria but my general anxiety disorder and undiagnosed ADHD was never addressed at that time and it should have been picked up on.

So unless it’s seriously urgent, he postpones and sends them to a therapist to try to heal the mind first so they feel love, stronger, like a fighter, going into his surgery.

A few years ago, I understood a transgender person to want to blend in with the opposite sex and not draw attention to themselves. But now, it seems like it's all about the piercings, tattoos, rainbow hair, and over the top make-up and clothes. In all honesty, I don't believe that they want to be a transgender that blends in with the opposite sex. I believe that they are using it as an excuse to stir the pot and then play the victim when they feel they have been wronged! I worked at a pharmacy and several transgender patients were absolutely amazing people, but the majority came to the counter with a chop on their shoulder. If there was the slightest issue, insurance, refill request, information update, it was taken as a personal affront at that point I would be told that I was transphobic and that I would be on Facebook for everyone to see because they were recording. I honestly think that no one should be receiving bottom surgery, trans or not... The technology and advancement in medicine just isn't there, at least currently. There's far too many complications and it doesn't even come close to being what it's advertised as. Not to mention how incredibly painful it is to go through and how long of a recovery period that greatly interferes with your daily life, as well as the high risk associated with a surgery like that, it's just not worth putting yourself through all of that especially when you consider that the majority of these procedures end up as a failure even after multiple revisions to try and fix it, which only prolongs the pain and suffering all to end up botched and nonfunctioning. Honestly, Doctors shouldn't even be allowed to offer this to people... Literally anything else that had that high of a failure rate with such serious consequences to your body's vital functions would never be approved. And as if that wasn't bad enough, we allow this to be done to Children who can't possibly begin to understand the ramifications of such a consequential decision and give their informed consent. Heck, the way in which the Medical Community presents it to the public, not even the adults are truly able to give consent because the whole thing is incredibly dishonest and gives unrealistic expectations. It's unfortunately only after these people run into the serious complications that they start to understand the full weight of their decision and at that point a lot of Doctors will abandon them, leaving them broken, sick, or worse. Mark my words, this will be the largest medical scandal in history when the truth comes out about trans "healthcare". Sadly, by then the damage will already be done and so many countless lives will be ruined.
