When they asked him about Sonic 3 he stated that he "was enough" and that he wouldn't come back. I'm more incline to think he did it anyway for money, rather than for "the fans", or because he liked the character. I like Jim Carrey, don't get me wrong. I'm just brutally honest. Think about it, there's nothing special he could like about the character, since he DIDN'T play the character. He just being Jim Carrey all the time, like in any other role of him.

Technically "kicked the bucket" means they unalived their self by hanging (As in they kicked the bucket out from under themselves) but it is also used to just say they died these days. Kind of like how people use electrocute and shock interchangeably. Electrocute is a portmanteau of electricity and execute meaning that if someone were electrocuted they died not just got shocked.

Interesting origin. Euphemisms are fun. A similar thing goes for the term “Beef” as in an argument or fight. It originated in London’s criminal underworld where crooks would say “Hot beef” as a mocking rhyme to “Stop, thief!”, basically saying that the people saying the latter phrase were making a ruckus for nothing. Over time, the term evolved to mean verbal disagreement or fight.

Making a live action Sonic movie was very risky for Paramount. Especially since they had to redesign Sonic because fans hated the original Sonic with human teeth. But, thankfully they found a way to make this movie as fun as it could be. Even Jim Carrey as Dr. Eggman was a very fun choice. It definitely deserves the audience attention it got.

I was a diehard Sonic fan growing up (I've played & beaten the 16bit Sonic games so many times I could probably beat them in my sleep) and so far the Sonic movies have been like a dream come true. Also I would definitely recommend checking out the 16 bit Sonic games (Sonic 1,2, 3, & Knuckles) as well as the Sonic Adventure games (which will be important for the third Sonic movie as they are taking elements from those games) if you plan on checking out the other Sonic movies.

Oh I cannot wait for you to watch through this series. What's crazy is that as good as this movie was, it was considered by the film makers to be the "testing waters" movie. The second is where they really use all their elements to make a cool movie, and it really delivers. As for the third, well, I myself and many others have never anticipated a movie more in their lives with how good that trailer was, and if the movie is even half as good as it, then who knows what's in store. TLDR: This movie is great, the 2nd is even better, and the 3rd looks like it'll be the best of the year! Can't wait to see your reaction to them. You should play or try out Sonic games! The first two and Sonic CD are available for mobile, and if you want a taste of everything they recently released Sonic x Shadow Generations. That game is probably better if you know all the references and levels, but it’s still fun regardless!

Big part of what for me (and i presume many other Sonic fans) makes this trilogy cool is the fact they ACTUALLY CARED for the fans and took in the input, which is VERY rare from big studios to do. Sonic videogames originated in 1991 on the Sega Genesis. Sega had created the Genesis as a direct competitor against Nintendo. Sega and its mascot Sonic was marketed as what the cool kids play, while Nintendo and their mascot Mario was geared towards little kids. For years, Sega and Nintendo went head to head as fierce rivals, but bad decisions by Sega resulted in them pulling out of consoles by 2002. Although Sega retains the rights to Sonic. In Japan, the villain has always been called Dr Eggman. But in the US, his name was changed to Dr Ivo Robotnik. Okay, so, you don't really need to know all the game lore to enjoy the movies; they do a great job with the characterizations, and they're kinda doing their own thing lorewise so that general audiences won't be completely lost. But they still sprinkle in a ton of references and easter eggs for the longtime fans to pick up on. I'd definitely recommend Sonic 2 and the Knuckles TV series; the Knuckles show gets really mixed reviews, but that's mostly from fans who were expecting something different; for the ones who kinda got a feel for how the movies were doing things, and took the show on its own terms it was pretty dang good. I'm super hyped for Sonic 3 when it comes out in December! It looks SO good! (and coincidentally, the actor called out in this movie as a national treasure, Keanu Reeves is doing the voice of Shadow!)

Angelina, this is the movie for all Sonic fans, including myself. In fact, this is the movie that broke the “Curse” when Hollywood try to make video-game adaptation movies and they’ve been doing that for years prior to this. This was literally released just one month before COVID-19 became the worst pandemic the world has ever seen. Everything about it was hilarious and filled with many Easter Eggs for us to spot instantly or later on with a rewatch. You are correct, there is a sequel to this and there is another one coming out this year in December; which will be the biggest highlight for this next year of Sonic the Hedgehog by another character who is just as great as he is, if not arguably, better. When Jim Carrey got casted for Dr. Eggman, I was, at first, conflicted because for starters, he looks nothing like the character he’s supposed to portray but as time went by, there is some traits that he has and it was little by little that he becomes the the arch nemesis of Sonic. Tom and Maddie are the ultimate OTP for this franchise and I wouldn’t change a thing. P.S James Marsden portrays Cyclops, not Cyborg. Totally different characters from different comics. Plus, I never knew you have a brother who plays Sonic and a frog, apparently. See you on the next one. You’ll enjoy this one better because believe me, the lore behind this is gigantic.

So Sonic lore is really complicated because it has been told so many ways, the original games were story light but each region got a different origin story in the manual, you got 3 different cartoons and an OVA as well as 2 difffrent manuals comics and a Manga & children books, all different from the manuals it wasn't until 1998 that an effort to start to make a game cannon began and even that was messy I would say this is a better movie but Sonic 2 is a better Sonic movie as it has way more references to the games, looking forward to Sonic 3 coming out soon with Keanu Reeves as Shadow
