We know goku will always train, he does it for fun after all. In the afterlife, he has no responsibilities or stamina. On earth, present goku went from not being able to defeat a single Android to being able to contend with perfect cell in just 8 months in the time chamber while also getting gohan up to scratch. In that time, he speedran ssj forms and was on the brink of of ssj2. Then he trained while dead for 7 years in which he mastered ssj2 and unlocked ssj3. This is a goku who has been dead for 14 years. 6 years longer. To say he wasn’t at least as strong as present goku when he fought cell is asinine. This isn’t including king kai training, training with the other dead Z-fighters, or with other undead entities. For all we know, shin or maybe even beerus could have picked up on them. King kai could have contacted the namekians and get everyone revived with their 14 year massive timeskip boost. There is no excuse that the Z-fighters wouldn’t be strong enough to annihilate all of the androids put together.

The actual answer is that it would undermine the drama of the story, so Toriyama treated death as being important and permanent, for once. My preferred rationalization is that you always need some sort of intermediary between realms, and when Baba died, that option closed.

Something about the anime that's never covered, is how abnormal and powerful Witches are. Witches like Fortune Teller Baba, can bypass even laws of the universe, allowing the 1 day visit. The reason why Elder Kai has such strange abilities is because he potara fused with a witch too.

The only way I think, other than using the Super Dragon Balls or finding new Namek, in order to revive future Goku, would be if Trunks was able to break the Z sword by accident before fighting Dabura, and ask Old Kai to sacrifice his life in return to revive Goku, I think there's no restrictions on that. Then with Goku, after stopping Babidi, they could have asked for help from the Supreme Kai or King Kai in order to find new Namek and teleport there, to revive the rest of Z fighters. I don't know if future Vegeta can be revived, since he was sent to hell, which probably after a long time, he might be reincarnated in a totally different lifeform, other than that, they can bring back everyone else.

The rest of the Z warriors, Vegeta included, would have been dead for so long. But Parunga might not care about that and would just do one person at time if this were to occur. Remember, Piccolo is dead and thus so is Kami. And the reason that the new shen long still has the whole revival limit is because Dende forgot to remove it. So this would still happen, especially under so much stress of the torn earth yelling in his ears.

For Goku Black arc would've been cool to see Future Gohan use his one day pass after all these yrs training with Goku and Piccolo in the afterlife tho I don't think they could've gone higher than ssj3 never bumping into the higher beings to know about God ki being able to do the ritual with pretty much only Goku and Gohan probably being the only saiyans in otherworld with Vegeta being in a gray area but will likely be in hell

I want to say Kami probably had something to do with Piccolo getting the chance to travel to King Kai's given Piccolo died defending the earth and saving Gohan, the same goes for Goku and the other Z fighters. Vegeta not going to Hell probably had to do with King Yama straight asking Vegeta if he'd be willing to ho back and fight Buu a second time given Vegeta haf defended the Earth against the Androids, had a family and loved them, and because he went down swinging against Buu. For Raditiz more than likely Toriyama forgot about him.

Piccolo didn’t do anything too evil besides wanting to off Goku and take over the world which he did neither(Goku special beam was incidental not intentional) and he trained to defend the earth and sacrificed himself to save Gohan and the earth so he was allowed to go to King Kai plus he’s connected to Alamo who is good so that helps as well

Since she wouldn’t need to worry about the androids blasting them out the atmosphere, and it should take less energy to warp to New Namek than it does linking and shifting between timelines. Only then would it make sense to ask King Kai for directions, albeit considering one of her plans was to bring Goku to the future and fight, she probably wanted to see him again on the low. - UNNECESSARY THINGS BELOW - After all, Bulma already made it clear they didn’t have the tech during the Freeza Saga to reach Old Namek within their lifetime. Goku only made it because his Saiyan Pod (still alien tech) was salvaged/modified. Vegeta’s space travels during anime filler (GT basically has for its canon) are the only things contradicting their lack of ability to do so, as by the time DBS takes place, we have Jaco in the mix to assist in travels with his ship, and Pilaf’s intellect to further accelerate/revamp things like Future Bulma’s Time Machine. The future was kinda wrecked so the things she could create were limited to some extent. Time Travel in DB doesn’t mandate they breakthrough some speed limit, but the official site’s science side does compare it to Goku’s Instant Transmission and dark matter.

Bulma could easily use the spaceship goku used to arrive on earth after namek to go to new namek or to improve on that ship. And before you say “goku used IT in the future timeline to fight frieza and king cold” the ship would’ve landed on earth regardless as it was programmed too start with.meaning it would’ve landed three hours after goku arrives to fight frieza.btw from all we know goku could’ve easily transported with the ship as well.

@@extremelegendsupreme4596 Considering Bulma already knows the coordinates (regardless if it was bombed in trunks’s timeline or not), and how hard it was for Goku (with king kai’s help) to teleport to New Namek, she more than likely figured pulling her resources into a functional time machine was more beneficial since one of her plans was for Trunks to bring Goku to the future And considering we don’t know if death via heart virus counts as a natural death to Porunga, and Shenron already revived Goku before, on top of how he was mythologized… between risking the androids catching them leaving the atmosphere for what would likely take more than the 6 days it took to reach Classic Namek, while a teleporter would be more discreet and simplify the trip, Bulma chose not to bank on a Goku-less resurrection spree & Vegeta likely being reincarnated somewhere else already, the past would provide them with loads more opportunities/information

I would love to see you do a what if the senzu beans did not go extinct in Future Cell online and Future Trunks timeline. Also have both Bulma's in both timelines build the time machine. However have it changed up a little bit by having Cell steal the time machine before trunk can use in cells timeline and time Patrol then appeared and gave him a new time machine the thing is trunks doesn't know who stole the time machine however the second timeline Future Trunks timeline actually had someone else in the timeline which is Goten which goes back in time instead of Goten and both future Trunks from Cells timeline and Goten from Future Trunks timeline bumped into each other proving the Multiverse early allowing them to tell the Z fighter more details. And have it in future self timelines that Goten died because of the Androids or Zamasu to switch bodies with him and then he killed his original body.

I think that it was a huge missed opportunity to get Gohan to use the 1 day pass and retcon it to make it that the witch can't bring multiple people back like she used to anymore. So just Gohan turns up but with a halo and both hands. Then he witnesses Trunks defeat the Androids and after they talk with Bulma. Gohan brings up to Bulma that Goku misses her and that they both thank her for helping to save the world with the time machine. Then Gohan and Trunks train one last time together.

-Goku died of natural causes unable to return -had they gone to New Namek, they could've used that set of Dragon balls -Everyone was killed instead of naturally, which would've granted everyone to return. -It's very much premise had Bulma looked for new Namek. Time's not a factor given Frieza had been dead for a decade before Resurrection F so Gohan could've returned.

14 tears of roaming around the world would have certainly make it possible for Androids to cross Baba and kill her...while on a rampage...also the New Namek could have been discovered but the resources were probably on the brink of extinction to make it possible for Bulma to both track New Namek and make the Time Machine...and the Time Machine was certainly her best bet...so allocating all the eemaining resources to the Time Machine makes sense especially during an Apocalypse...

One additional point not touched upon in this video: even if we assume that either Baba was dead or that Goku wanted to entrust the earth to the next generation, he could have used King Kai to inform Gohan about the existence of the time chamber. It’s also highly unlikely that the lookout would be destroyed in the future timeline, since the androids would have no reason to ever go there with most the z fighters already being deceased and them not really considering hunting Gohan down to be a priority.

The time chamber wouldn't help Gohan. It's not like the ROST makes you stronger the training you do in it is how you get stronger. Gohan has 13 years to train and beat the androids and he never could.

Every time Goku was granted a body in the afterlife it was because of his karma for sacrificing himself for others. I always thought Goku didn’t come back in the future timeline because he died from the heart disease (natural causes)

So the point of who stays a spirit vs who gets to keep their body I think is not only based on deeds both good and bad but the amount of power you possess. When Goku dies the first time in Z he gets ti keep his body and travel Snakeway but it's also stated that Raditiz got to keep his as well he was sent to Hell. Even the other Z fighters abd villains have this same thing occur. So I would assume Goku regardless of how he died kept his body the same Vegeta knew from Piccolo when he dies he's going to Hell.

It was always very strange to me that Goku and the other killed future Z warriors never attempted anything from beyond the grave. Even if they couldn't come back for whatever reason, for example Baba being missing/dead, why didn't they communicate with King Kai to locate New Namek or something like that? It makes for grim storytelling with consequences, something we don't see a lot of in Dragonball, but it remains very strange Future Goku and his friends just kinda accept their fate and remain in the afterlife.

It's quite simple really. The dead aren't allowed to interfere in the affairs of the living. The one day pass is a special exception with restrictions on its use. You can't just "one day pass" someone to fix a planet's self inflicted problems. Without the dragon balls, and without a way to find new namek, there would be no special reason to allow everyone to keep their bodies. Perhaps Goku would keep his body due to his feats, but the others would simply go to heaven (or hell, in Vegeta's case). And no, King Kai probably wouldn't even be paying attention to the Earth to notice what's going on. It's not like Super where Bulma has a "summon god" button.

The super saiyans only originally surpassed the androids with the ROSAT. Without the ROSAT the androids would arguably grow at a faster rate than the saiyans considering we now know 17 magically became SSB level by defending an island.

@@mike0133 The androids couldn't be detected via ki sensing, which also means no one would know how powerful they are until it's too late. As for telling Gohan and Trunks to use the time chamber that would imply that Mr. Popo is still alive. With Yajirobe confirming that Korin died, this could imply that they also attacked the Lookout, I mean the Power Pole connects the Lookout and Korin's Tower. With them attacking the Lookout, they most likely kill Popo, and perhaps unknowingly, destroyed the Time Chamber. After all, we never heard from Trunks that the Time Chamber is still around in his timeline during Super.

Id say that they weren't allowed to come back. In the anime at least during the kid buu fight when Vegeta comes up with his plan to use the Namakian dragonballs it was Elder Kai that said absolutely not, because it upsets the natural evolution of the cosmos. But then gives in. And later in Super when Whis destroys the time machine and forbids Bulma to make another. Again because it upsets the natural evolution of the cosmos. Also I want to throw in that when Goku was fighting Fat Buu he didnt try to win for several reasons. Primarily he wanted the next generation to save Earth. He also later told Piccolo that it wasn't his place to defeat Buu since this isn't his world anymore. And lastly the power output needed to beat such a foe as Zamazu mightve drained their clock on the one day pass too quickly as we see after Goku four Fat Buu

As I understood it back then if you died from a natural cause that was it and you are gone for good. Guru was wished back because he died of a broken heart but he still came back as a sick dying old person so he died again. Since Goku died from the heart virus that would have been it for him. The impression I always got is people who died naturally have no body to keep and their souls are cleansed. Maybe a special exception would be had for Goku though. Toriyama probably forgot about the 1 day rule honestly

You don't even need the one day trip. The real question is why Goku didn't use Kaio to tell Gohan about the time chamber. I guess the lookout was destroyed at some point, but surely it wasn't the first thing the androids did. Surely Goku would have had more than enough time to figure out what was happening on Earth and tell at least Gohan to use it before it was destroyed. He should have also been more than capable of guiding Gohan and Trunks' training by talking to them through Kaio.

I mean, even if they did travel to the past in the time machine, Bulma could have sent the fuel plans to make the trips faster as the current timeline obviously had more resources like in Super. Or the past Bulma could have sent a capsule with the spaceship to the future with the New Namek coordinates since Goku travels to it using instant transmission during the arc to get Dende. So it's not like it was impossible to get the location information from the past if she didn't make a spaceship to find New Namek, they still could have gotten the info with the time machine and then gone to Namek and fixed a lot of the issues in the future. Also, I think when Bulma was referencing a spaceship, it was a human built one, once they reverse engineered the Saiyan spaceship, they were able to duplicate it. It's hard to say.

I have a very simple fix, if I ever write dragon ball super AF that is. It would just be revealed that Mira and Towa infiltrated that timeline and captured Goku when he arrived at king kai's planet to talk to the people of earth. Doing the same for the other Z-fighters once the androids killed them. Replacing Zamasu in DB Super, where they meet with trunks, possibly posing as Kais, and they also take over New Namek as well to control those dragon balls.

My guess would be that the Androids are not a "universal" threat such that Goku and the Z fighters would be allowed a 1 day visit to help even if they wanted to. The 1 day visit is a reward of sorts and actually a quite rare privilege. I dont think it can be handed out based on the whim of the dead person REALLY wanting to go back...otherwise id imagine everyone in other-world would want to do it. The reason why it was so heavily used in the Buu Saga was because Buu was literally a universal threat, such that the Deities of the otherworld like Supreme Kai feared him. At that point, the rules were bended in order to do whatever it took to get rid of Buu. The androids on the other hand, aren't that much of a concern. Even if they wreak havok on earth and travel to other planets, they're not agents of chaos like kid buu was. The other world and the gods of the DB universe would not care at all in the grand scheme of things about them as threats.

I think a combination of Baba being killed and the gods not allowing it to occur. You remember in the Goku Black arc Whiz and Beerus are the biggest reasons the Z fighters can't use a time machine because time travel is forbidden under their law. So probably beings like Beerus or others stepped in and said no to Goku and the other Z fighters returning to help Trunks. That who you had your chance to win and you lost deal with it.

I thought the reason Goku got the one day pass was because he saved the Earth from Semi-Perfect Cell's KamiKaze attack to wipe the earth out. King Yama even referenced this as the reason Goku got to keep his body and train in the afterlife. Had Goku not fought cell, and died of natural causes or symptoms like he did in trunk's timeline, he wouldn't have gotten approval by King Yama to use his mortal body to train it to get stronger in the afterlife and be given the one day pass. I'm shocked people miss this content of information. Also, King Kai, in trunks timeline, wouldnt be much of help to contact new namek and request a wish to bring Goku or the Z warriors back, since the Namekians on new namek have a sacred decree of using their dragon balls and the fact that the Z warriros never made a connection with Dende to vouch for an emergency wish. Only reason, the new Namekians considered reusing their dragon balls was because of Dende's protest. At least, this is as far as I can remeber.

Before I start this video, I have only one answer which might be the case and even mentioned in this video….. cuz Toriyama has yet to pull it out of his pants of nonsense. Time after time, he was pressured to make more dragon ball and even had his ideas shut down, like the constant rework on cell until they were all satisfied with perfect cell. Also he forgets a lot of things like… (sniffs) launch. And since he is a, by the edge of your seat, writer, he most likely didn’t come up with that mechanic until it was convenient later in dragon ball z. Like the tournament for example. Point is, the whole one day didn’t exists during the cell arc. That’s my two cents.

There reason is Toriyama simply wanted a dark timeline and wanted to focus on the present timeline and also the growth of Trunks. He just let it there and didnt bother , its not suppose to be that deep , its not star wars or something. As much as people want explanation that has to be the right one considering how his editors keep changing stuff and that was his focus at the time. If you reall want headcanon , I'd say Goku simply moved on , he died knowing the Earth was safe , from his point of view Frieza was the last strongest being alive and never bothered the living. Kaio didnt know about the situation on Earth and all that was because of Goku , after all Earth is only a pebble on a beach , you cant expect him to pay attention to just that. Vegeta I doubt he kept his body , at that time he was the same as uncaring as he always was. The humans moved on since there is nothing to do and saw it as a natural progression of things. The only ones that I cant think of are Piccolo and Gohan who couldnt reach neither Kaio or Goku for whatever reason.

I've always had a fan theory about Baba being killed in the future timeline. We never see Baba with her hat off, so I actually think Baba could have been dead herself for some huge amount of time and she keeps her halo under her hat. She's cheeky enough to do this. Then I'd she was killed by the androids, she would have been wiped out all together. She could be exempt from the one day restriction because it's her power that makes it possible. Or she could have just straight up been hiding the fact she was dead from Enma and getting away with it for who knows how long. I know this idea is fully made up but it's fun to toy with

Yeah, you pretty much said it here. While the "One Day Visit" nowhere stated that it could only be one warrior/person per usage, its better to assume that only one person at a time can be "cheated back" by her unless we get CANON EVIDENCE (aka no fan Manga or game content) that it is indeed more than just one person a time. Which means it comes down to Uranai Baba herself and I have to admit, I never thought about the possibility that she could be dead too, since she would have seen her own death coming, being a Fortune Teller. So it would probably come down to her refusing to risk getting one of them to Earth. She is a coward after all, even if she talks smack against literally everyone.

The spanish guidebook, Dragon ball gt Journal 43 and Vegeta vs Cabba Fight Confirmed that SS Grade 4 is x10 times Stronger then SS1 Grade 1. Honestly, I think it just comes down to the dead not being allowed to meddle in the affairs of the living. When Goku came back for the tournament, he was just coming back to spend a day with friends and family, it just so happened that Babidi made his move at that time. Hell, they didn't even bend the rules on Goku's time limit even though the one guy (in universe) that should have anything approaching the authority to authorize that, the Supreme Kai, was right there and desperately needed help to stop the revival of a monster that had previously killed most of the Supreme Kais, causing untold damage to the Gods of U7. It was just against The Rules, presumably set by the Zeno when the universes were created.

This is just my theory but The currency of the after life is for NON combat related heaven esk Items. Heaven is a Society just like “earthican” society. They have jobs, roles, and responsibilities as well as a need for Shelter and amenities. Food is optional to the bodies of the dead. My personal headcanon is that no one kept their body and that Baba died, shutting off any contact between Earth and Otherworld. Goku died of natural causes and didn't die sacrificing himself in battle, which seems to be a requirement for keeping your body. Vegeta probably went straight to hell, and the rest of the Dragon Team probably just didn't qualify for keeping their body due to a lack of heroics. Yemma notoriously hates paperwork and probably let them train with King Kai in the Frieza Arc as a favor. I could totally see him dooming them to reincarnation because he's lazy.
