@@PrymalChaos That my friend would be the pièce de résistance.. a full 2 album listen and react... I know the band and label will have no problems with that... if they do... call Brittney.... She will take care of that !
@dtpfeiffer2 жыл бұрын
The thing I find interesting is that while many vocalists talk about waiting until the music is done, Brittney has said these albums have been the opposite. She has the story in mind ahead of time and they fit the music to that chapter of the story. While you can enjoy any of the songs on their own, it was composed to be listened to as a full album. It seems to be less common now and I appreciate that extra attention to detail as opposed to being just a collection of random singles. There are a couple songs between Awakening and this one. Awakening introduces the Immortal waking up, Shadow Guide is about a falcon guiding him where to go, hence the falcon in this vid. Then The Matriarch tells us who she is and how evil she has been. This song is him meeting her and learning she has awakened him to find her sons so she can sacrifice them in a ritual to gain eternal life. The next few are about him going after each individual son.

Albums are a dying artform. I'm glad there are artists keeping the dream alive. Proving that people still have attention spans broad enough to digest large, complex works. We live in a bite sized, throw away age.

I really appreciate an insightful reaction, one that helps me better understand why I like something, so thank you for that! I'm by no means a metal head, but am mildly obsessed with UtA. Besides their fantastic musicianship, I love the story. Apex and Abyss are concept albums, each song being a "chapter" in the story. It's like a great book with music. Brit has done a couple videos (on Napalm's channel, I think) that explain what each chapter/song are about and they let you get a better idea of the story overall. I found them really helpful. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!

Thanks for the tip Michelle. I can't wait till I've reacted to enough songs that I can just listen to the album's in context. I really want to do a deep dive, but I have to be careful not to spoil future reaction videos. It seems like UtA is way more than just a metal band. There is so much more drama there. Definitely a standout act.
@dbell5822 жыл бұрын
@@PrymalChaos it is. On your original reaction the long response explains the entire thing. This is a great album and the story is so deep. The look in her son’s eyes when he realizes what she’s about to do really got (gets) to me. Having a son myself, I of course, could never conceive such an idea. But it points out the great lengths some ppl will go for power.

It's 4 AM on a freezing/fog morning. Coffee's brewing and the first voice I hear is Brittney's. Is there anything better in life? If there is, it probably involves Moar UTA. I'm glad our snow is gone right now, but damn, they have an unfair advantage filming in North Canukistan** That's gotta be rough on any hard guitar varnish...hopefully no nitro was damaged in the filming... oiled finishes only need apply. Can we talk about how engaging/appealing a broad, mezo-voice is? Dang, maybe it's me, but it is like a call to gather. And the storytelling quality that Brittney brings to a song like this is just as important to it's success as the 'high notes at the end'. She will interject emphasis that's outside the 'normal/classical' realm, and it really makes the song breathe... I'm not sure how else to describe what I feel when I hear this song. The obvious call for audience participation is 'nice'.. not necessary, but it does set up a great opportunity for a whole community of metalheads to either shine, or fall flat on their faces. It would be an absolute blast to see a collection of live clips from clubs on their most recent tour..... here's what Cinncinati sounded like ("Ahhhhh ahhh ah"), here's what Reno sounded like, etc.... kind of a Taste of the Tour video, to see which towns really got into it, and which were too busy moshing and pumping fists. This is music that, as a crowd member, I feel the obligation to raise my voice and join in on that bridge-towards the outro. ... of course, at home it just makes my cats scurry for cover and plug their ears... everyone is a critic, lol. Nice reaction. Enjoy your time with UTA. ** don't worry, we in the PNW have a huge warm space in our heart for our neighbors to the north... it's a term of endearment. I can't imagine what they must call us, but I'll buy them a beer and we can both laugh over it.

I am of the same mindset, my favorite bands like Nigthwish, UtA, The Warning, all have one thing in common, musically they have no ego, it is all about what the music/song needs, not about what they can do to show off their skills. I will take one David Gilmour solo over 100 shredding ones, just my taste I guess, always has been. Even in the 80s when my group of friends were into shredding guitarists like Yngwie and all the albums from Shrapnel records, I never got into it.
