The purpose to lift heavier weights, is to grow in strength , you dont wanna just stay on the same weight for years , so to get stronger , you have to challenge yourself and lift heavy but obviously if your lifting 185 consistently, you don’t wanna jump to 315, you wanna go up weight by 5 or 10 and go from there

So my question is with the 1 rep max, is it something you would you everyday let’s say with a 4 day split ?
@DB-sj6jiАй бұрын
so how do you reverse engineer this so you dont waste energy and time and reps building up to 1rm guessing? I can do bent over lat rows with the 120s easily its the highest th at gym goes. I normally get 3 sets of 11-13. I have another gym i can go to that has 150s. Think I am good for it. I might go try later Unilateral dumbbell work is at least less injury prone because you can just drop the weight. Although my left rotator cuff doesn’t allow me to db press anymore than about 70 nowadays and i can do 110s on the right sidd

I just know that when I was doing 1 rep max back in the day, 1st of all I never felt good or any satisfaction pf doing that, exept satisfuing my ego. And second of all, course i got hurt from 1 rep max from time to time. Few years ago i met a guy who was strong like bull and he was never doing over 90% of his max, and he was always doing 3 working sets for 3 or 5 or 8 reps, depend on each day... I tried his recepie and it really worked in a way that I build my strength and i felt good during my workout working sets, despite of this 1 rep max training that I was doing for years.

I've gotten pretty strong for my size but what I noticed was; the novelty of your new 1RM is fleeting. The novelty wears off so fast. Atleast I got the videos for memories sake. My take, 1rm's aren't needed outside of powerlifting

Damn, this true strength philosophy can be applied to politics right now, the discomfort and uncertainty part is where you grow. Trying a new perspective and breaking from the norm.
@priceaka13Ай бұрын
Its not about being in a comfort zone or being afraid to test your limits. Limits exist for a reason and if you try to push beyond them, kiss your training goodbye when you tear a muscle trying to prove how much weight you can move with one rep.
@harrisford2924Ай бұрын
Let me explain something Mike is not telling you about all the injuries he has had for overtraining and lifting too heavy 3 to 5 reps is your safe Max to prevent you from injury your body and your mind will tell you it's not safe but you can do it anyway but you could mean injuries because your body and mind will let you know let's stay safe and always listen to your mind and your body always keep you from permanent damage and when you go in the gym leave your ego out the door it's always somebody bigger and stronger than you just like the way you will be always bigger and stronger than somebody else he will never tell you about the steroids in injuries😮
@Stobadd93Ай бұрын
Why I don’t see more comments on this comment, because I always figured a lot of gurus don’t talk enough about their injuries and how they recover from them to keep lifting.I’ve learned from experience once you get certain injuries it’s really hard to recover from and takes time before attempting more or similar lifts #LetsElaborate more on this I would like to hear from those that built amazing physique naturally reach a certain peak but declined because of certain injuries!
@grizzlybear7233Ай бұрын
People don't understand serious weight training. You going to injury yourself soon or later. It's has nothing to do with just lifting heavy weight. Yes of course if you don't know your strength or your form is off of course heavy weight will destroy you! Same as light weight. Like he said to become a beast you must push yourself. Comfort zone will never take you there. That's anything in life. Push yourself will open up new goals rather it's working out or anything else in life.

One rep of anything doesn’t do shit. Not in the gym. Not in life. You need to grind. Build up. Stack it up. Not just risk it all on one rep. This is ignorant and reckless. Caring about your body and being careful, at the same time pushing for the limits doesn’t make you a weaker person. You don’t gain shit from just doing a one rep max. Try doing that 10 times. Then you’re a real man.
@neskarraksenАй бұрын
You've totally missed the whole point of the purpose of 1 rep max, even when it has been explained in detail

Ever heard the saying “how you do something is how you do everything” ? 1rm gives you the EXACT number in which you can do at the moment you then can take a percentage whether it’s 70% or 80%from number to build on.
