Rabbi Friedman thank you for your video. I believe you have a great reasoning. I wish I could understand as you do. I don't blame God for the suffering. I don't. And I do complaint to God and usually tells him that man is bringing to destruction a beautiful world that He created. I see the world as the most beautiful thing there is. I see God in all his Creation and that is why I think that the world reflects the face of Hashem, blessed is He. The reason of suffering I cannot understand. Rabbi Friedman you are amazing!

Thank you so much for sharing all the insight. I've never known before what Judaism teaches. There have been random folks in my past that have shared wisdom, but I didn't know how much wisdom is a part of Judaism. I don't know if I am being blessed with this knowledge because I want to know the real G-D, or I am just someone who stumbled into the truth. Either way I am so grateful!!! Thank you so much for putting this information on You Tube!!!

The struggle I have with this premise is that it ignores free will and infers that God MAKES everything happen. If God makes everything happen, where is our free will? And without our free will, how can we truly have love? I think it's better to point out that, because He truly loves us, He gives us the freedom to choose our actions, both good and bad.

To a degree, a person who has trust in G-d will not suffer as much as he who has expectations. Yes, it would be wonderful if trying hard resulted in success! When it doesn't, when unexpected events cause setbacks, are those "punishments' from the Almighty? Or are they "tests" of our character?? What happens to the person who tries to do the right thing, yet has delayed success? When I have had problems in becoming more religiously observant, I didn't quit trying. Continued effort has made the goal even more precious to me. That has answered some of my "Why?"

Bad things happen to good people because they are too trusting of everything and everyone. Good things happen to bad people because they trust nothing and no one, least of all themselves. Good things don't happen to good people because they think they are never wrong. Bad things don't happen to bad people because they know they are never right. Good people leave every thing to God, come what will. Bad people leave nothing to others come what may. Good people mistake their hubris for humility and humility for hubris. Bad people neither mistake humility for hubris, nor hubris for humility. Good people don't know themselves well enough. Bad people know themselves only too well. Good people obey their conscience because they think they live in a moral universe; bad people don't because they know the universe is amoral. Nothing happens without a reason. Good and bad things happen to all not because we are what we think we are, but what we think, we are. The universe is one; the sun, moon and stars are one - they shine on the good, the bad, and the ugly - all of whom coat wisdom with sugar and not take truth with a pinch of salt.

We have as a jew a certain role to play. Our particular "golas" is our role to "bring back a spark" ; alluminae a tiny piece of darkness. When we do this or try to do this our light connects to other lights and alluminates the world like a night sky. If we lead our life according to the least ressistance in a dark and nfused world our lives don't stand up to a standard that can justifi our existance.

That is so true, why is an objection. The world is going through so much horrifying things as we read the newspapers and see the videos on the Internet. I would like to ask what is righteousness. Of course I have read and read Torah, and have read the Christian Bible too. What is see and hear is that suffering have many faces. There are children in the world who are being sold to slavery, sex, prostitution, etc., etc. For what I see is that everyone is blaming Hashem, blessed is He, for the horrendous things happening, but I think that make is the one creating all these evil. Not the Almighty Creator of the world. When He, blessed is He, created the world he thought and said it was good. He probably knew we were going to end up destroying ourselves because we, for whatever reason chose to do evil. Whether poverty, wrong decisions we make in our lives, we hurt ourselves and other. We refuse to follow the good God Almighty told us to follow for our own good. Not because he wanted to punish us, but because he knew that if follow our own understanding of how things should be done we would create our own chaos in our lives. Isn't "righteousness" to follow God's teachings? But we fail to do his will. We see only through our eyes. We think we can create things as well as God, and that is when we make the mistakes. I was watching a video in which this man in Russia believes that he is Jesus. People are following because there are people seeking for holiness. These people are trying to be "good" or righteous. Would this succeed? I don't believe so because they are following a man who is not perfect as God is perfect. The evil should teach us a lesson that the only way we could be saved is through trusting, and obeying God's will . And what is God's will? To do good to one another. Respect one another and accept that there is only ONE Creator, One Savior, who means good to all man race. I really think that the world is again coming to a situation like the time of the flood. For what I see in these videos throughout the world is evil to one another, I don't think the Almighty God is at peace with these situations. Yes, I feel that Hashem, blessed is He, is suffering as we are because of what we are doing to one another, and there will be no other alternative but to bring another destruction of mankind. Unfortunately that is what is seems. May Hashem, blessed is He, have mercy on all of those who want to do "good." I don't believe God is making it happen, I believe is mankind making all these evil happen, like the time of the flood.

Trying to understand the judgement of G-d is almost like ignoring Him, G-d forbid. We can't really say the reasons why G-d judges in a way or another, since our thinking, our sense of justice, our compassion is NOTHING compared with His. We can try to figure out, struggling ourselves and finally guess somehow, that there might be this or that reason why G-d has judged in a certain way. But even though, we may think we are close to guess WHY, there are still a huge amount of lack of knowledge from us that ignores completely the way the spiritual world functions. What might be a tragedy in our eyes, could be a celebration in the real "not physical" world. In a way that a death, for example, can be seen here like something terrible, while the real meaning in "the other world" is a trip straight to paradise, where all unholy physical burden and suffering of the lowest world are gone.

When my son's father died Christmas Eve it was the moment before midnight he turned to me and said, my fathers going to die. It was the first time I told him yes. When a week later I had to tell I stood behind him watching cartoons laughing. My sorrow was knowing that when I told him our sons shoulders and heart would feel heavy. Until our son was old enough I told our son his father died 1.7. I didnt want him crying so young and hopeful on Hanukkah, Christmas and New Years. L'chaim from Jacova born March 11. It is 4.11. There is order and chaos. Gevurah to balance. For I am but one of the One God I am the one that God told, I'm sorry, I wasn't sure you were the one, be the girl you were in 2010. by a burning spider web that did not burn. 2010 the year I was prescient of the B.P. oil spill. The first of 11 to die on that rig, his last name was Jones. The name of my son's Father was Randy Jones and 11 minutes past each hour. I got a call from different places. No one answered my hello. You can look at the footage of CNN...by a Star of David, the flag of Israel and a Merry go round, with a calliope. So L'chaim from Jacova here email calliope. That's how God works thru me before you know it. One of the wisest things God told, when you notice something there is a reason. By the first words God told me you know very well, that God has feelings and is bound by the laws of what He created and and to teach will transcend physics while knowing.

Rabbi, how can we say ALL things ought to be? Ought Dinah to have been raped? Ought Jacob's sons to have destroyed a whole city for it? They can't BOTH be ok and "meant to be". What about trafficking? Death is one thing. Loss and illness are one thing. Evil is another. HOW do we reconcile this? (I know for us to object to the suffering of another is moral and is a place of emunah. But how does a survivor of trafficking respond? How do you help them understand? Todah!

That is some interesting theology about God making everything happen, including the "bad" stuff. Catholics see it as God has 2 wills, His actual will which is what He wants to happen - like people not killing each other and His other will - He allows us to do bad things and kill each other. In both cases it is God's will since nothing can happen outside His will. But to say God allows something so it is His will is not fully accurate; mass murder of genocide is NOT His will; He may allow it, but it is not really what He wants. However, in the end, we must accept what happens as God's will since He allows it and we must trust in Him. Relative to suffering Christ said to "pick up your cross and follow me." He was not kidding. But, He gave new meaning to suffering in that it becomes redemptive, it can convert the soul to God, it can serve to expiate sin. Offering one's suffering up in union with the cross of Christ then raises suffering to a highly valuable thing. Personally, since everything we have comes from God, we really have nothing to give Him except our suffering, we own the suffering, it is ours, that we can offer to Him, as well as obedience and love. Suffering is an evil, and a mystery. It is part of this fallen world and part of the price for our rebellion. The effects of sin are automatic, they happen whether you believe in God or not or if you believe in sin or not. it is built into the system. Mors sin, more blindness to sin and to God, every sin is a step into insanity. You can see it today people cannot even tell which bathroom to use or tell a male from a female - insanity that deep is profoundly the result of sin, as is the government national debt and for that matter all the nuclear weapons, not to mention abortion. Insanity from sin, all of it. Watch out! When people descend into sin and the consequent insanity, wicked murderous chaos will ensue and all pity goes out the window - the Nazis by the way are indeed still with us in spirit; ask yourself who is getting bumped off for not really being human or human enough - who are the ones in the way - who is it that is most disposable and most dehumanized - it is not merely Jews who can be such a target, it is the unborn 60 million victims in America alone, each victim a human being. Nasty evil stuff -so clinically performed behind closed doors. Murder pure and simple - by the millions and millions. Absolute moral depravity as a celebrated civil right - Eve again choosing to be "like God" again choosing death. Same tune.
