I am a Marine and Navy veteran. I spent 14 years proudly serving my country. I use my cut to display my pride in said service. To the knowing person (other veterans,) it gives them a brief idea into my service and often serves as a conversation starter with other veterans. In the veteran community this is huge because sometimes a random conversation turns into lifelong friendship and/or some type of worthwhile opportunity.

I put on my cut because I was told I earned it from my grandfather. For me it's a part of who I am, and who I always was even as a child. When I was 15 my grandfather gave me his leather jacket when he taught me to ride on a 83 sportster. And to this day i still have my grandfather's leather. He made it and wore it after he came back from WWII. Its been a part of me and my life. In high school I wore my grandfather's leather every day. and continueed wearing it when riding. All the way up till I was in my 30s. In which I out grew it. For me its a family heirloom. That I will pass on to my children if the ever start riding. I know no other way to be. I feel naked. And incomplete with my cut. Even though I'm an independent.

Started wearing a vest or cut, when I was young. Was a metalhead kinda thing. More influenced my motorhead than SOA. But it all took on a new meaning after joining a club. I use to wear a vest with no cuts, but after years of riding and spreading this way of life/two wheels culture to all of my friends, acting like a preacher, i gathered them around me. Step by step i learned all the things about MC rules and start teaching my friends about it. About 2 years ago i decided to make a logo that was approved by all of my friends and they all voted me as the President of the club...so we started a club. We made our own rules and i gave ranks to those with specific skills. We don't consider that we have to ask permission for this to the rest of the clubs. Me and my friends are ex special forces and we can deal any situation that might come up with the other clubs... We don't look for trouble...we don't mess in others business...but if they'll push us, well...it'll be their funerary...because you don't fuck with us. So now i wear a cut made by me and i run a club started by me and my friends...

I'm a metalhead wearing cuts since the eighties when I was fifteen years old. Some of my friends who were much older formed a motorcycle club and they often took me for a ride on the back on one of their bikes. I was still young and I loved how they put so much effort in making their vests. They still embroidered their own back patches back then. I was a troubled kid with asperger syndrome and I was often on my own...I'm greatful they took me in as a friend back in those early days. It gave me back a lot of my self respect. They were the first people who really accepted me for who I am. And allthough I personally never owned a motorcycle and never really joined a club, wearing a cut or a vest has since these days always been a part of my identity as a metalhead. When I was a minor, we did shit like that by neighborhood. There was an upper/middle class "village" near us. We were a poor azz neighborhood. There was a story in the paper where they said "we want to block off our village so the undesirables from Madison Place will stop coming through here". So, of course we all cut sleeves off jean jackets, gas station shirts, anything. On top we wrote "UNDESIRABLE", then right below it was just a drawing of a hump, like a grave, with a cross on top. On either side of the cross was an M & a P. It lasted 2 generations.

I was born and raised in the Bronx. Always loved the cowboy lifestyle. Worked with and rode horses from when I was about 16, became a professional rodeo Cowboy. Loved riding my horse for hours up and down the side of the Hutchinson River Parkway, Pelham Parkway. Loved the feeling of freedom riding, imagining I was riding the range out west which eventually I got to do here and there as I got older and my rodeo days progressed. Eventually hard riding took a toll on my back, but I still like the freedom of riding. I just turned 65 last week, but I had to switch to a Can am F3S Spyder. Got to be a little difficult holding up 2 wheels. My nic-name has been Cowboy for about 40 years. “The trails in life, they take a lot of turns. They go up hill and down, sometimes they get rocky, but the more you ride, the more you learn” yeah I wear a vest too. I have a (my 1st) classic leather motorcycle vest which I bought for the LOW from a friend that worked at a store before I even had my 2 gixxers, a club style (no affiliation) denim/leather vest and a sport bike leather jacket. Yeah, they look “Bad Ass” on us, but I HIGH SIDED 2WICE in my first vest and it saved my torso from severe road rash ! So other than style, SAFETY is and should be a factor no matter how tuff we think we are or want to appear… SOME OF US HAVE PLACES TO GO 🏡 PEOPLE TO 👀AND BABIES /LADIES 👨👩👧👦TO💋. Thank You again for the BIKER CULTURE knowledge. Even a Lone~Wolf such as myself can appreciate all of the info. 💪😎✊

Personally. I wear a leather vest over my leather jacket as added safety in case I go down. That extra protection from the road makes a big difference if you go down at high speed, and wind up sliding down the pavement #ghostin #rideyourshit

I wear a leather vest for it's versatility and look. I get leather protection for my torso with it and can layer anything from a t-shirt to windstopper hoodie under it depending on weather conditions. I live in western Nebraska and it's not uncommon to go from 45* in the morning to anywhere between 70* and 90* in the spring and fall riding seasons. Jackets don't give you the versatility of layering and being able to shed to short sleeves as temperatures rise. I also don't trust my keys, wallet, phone etc. in my pants pockets and use the pockets to secure my gear. I also conceal carry, and my vest has a specific conceal carry pocket that's accessible without undoing the vest.

I was always taught that a cut is only worn by a full patch member of any club . So a prospect wears a prospect vest. A civilian wearing a black or denim vest, Is just that a vest..? #Ghostin
@SoseTheGhost3 жыл бұрын
To me its just a cut cut off of sleeves i guess it depends on the club and how they look at it
@fireball54033 жыл бұрын
@@SoseTheGhost I see where your coming from that makes sense. The lack of sleeves makes it a cut off, For cut for short. The club I was once associated with you are only allowed to call a full patch vest a cut. I had no idea it was viewed so differently. I wonder if that's a coastal, regional type thing.

For me, its somewhere to attach patches without ruining the watertightness of my main jacket, also I can wear the vest with my jacket, or an armoured shirt in the summer etc. The double layer of leather really helps keep out the wind in the winter. On the vest I have Odins Hammer on the back, but no top or bottom rocker, on the front are patches from rides and events Ive been to, patches to display pride in my kids etc. Really means to me that you could spot me in a crowd of leathers 8)

#ghostin Folks seem to forget the reason the sleeves came off. The AMA used to present clubs with awards for attendance at sanctioned events and safety. These awards came in the form of patches that went on your sleeves. After Holister, the clubs that left the AMA cut off their sleeves to shed their AMA awards. Most also removed their AMA patch from their. One club that I am aware of still wears an AMA patch but now it is placed upside-down in defiance.

In the 70s UK we wore leather jackets with Denim cuts over, I was never MC so we put band and bike patches over, because we maintained our own bikes we wore greasy jeans over clean... leather cuts weren't a thing till around the nineties... never wore a leather cut until the late 90s when I started riding HD... lot of old skool still wear denim over leather... Check out Saxon denim n leather...

I asked a cowboy about his clothes, this is what he said; I wear these chaps because they protect my legs, I wear the vest because of all the pockets that I can reach what I want while I ride, this bandanna protects my nose and mouth from sand and what have you, this hat keeps me warm in winter and cool in summer, these sneakers are so that no one thinks I'm a truck driver. Oh yeah, I'm a new subscriber because you ain't bs'n. #ghostin. I wear a smooth leather vest for the same reason my cowboy buddy does and it adds protection if I go down.

Just got back from a short run into the desert nite, parked my girl in the garage and put on Demonsrow. You know in my old neighborhood everyone wore either or without a patch but most who did were friends of the local MC. It’s a style for me since 84 but I find myself wearing that style less every year and look forward to a full on leather jacket or my bomber nylon jacket (Black, orange on the inside). But great show Choppa keep on the grind my friend.~ML&Aloha Your Boy Duke&Ohana.
