Thanks for the video, Zach. Been looking forward to seeing it. It was about the driest I've ever seen it out here. We're making it a 2-day event next year (Amateurs Saturday & Pros Sunday) to ensure everyone gets their fill at the proper difficulty. The pro day is going to be rough regardless of the conditions. Regarding the camera, Billy Bolt runs his GoPro upside-down on his chest (you might be doing that already, I do not know).

In my last race my chesty mounted gopro got hung up twice on my throttle cable and held my bike wide open. The first time almost sent me into a tree 😆 That AMA rule is ridiculous imo✌

I always liked chest mounts - gives awesome perspective on how rough things are. It's certainly more difficult to get set up/angled perfect but makes stabilized video look faster.

A good way around the helmet being in the shot is from other videos ive seen about the new regulations, when you mount the camera on a chest mount is to put it upside down, so it shoots forward and doesn’t get the helmet in the shot.

Camera is not bad everyone is in the same boat with this new ama rule. If you angle the camera lower then you get a view of the tank and handlebars and not of the track. I’ve been mounting the camera on the handlebars using a ram mount at an angle so there is no vibration. You don’t get the same view that most everyone is use to but it’s hassle free and your view is of the track in front of you.

I mount my camera on top of my Leatt chest protector (under my chin). Then angle it down in the perfect direction. All done with Gorilla Tape.

Hey Zach! I noticed that lately you have been sitting a lot when your riding. It also seems that when you are more aggressive and attack obsticals you do much better than when you are a little more lenient or careful! I thought this might be helpful for you in future rides and races. I had watched a couple of you older videos and this is just something I picked up on. According to the new AMA rule the helmet cam attachment de-certifies the manufacturer warranty because the cam mounts are not part of how the helmet is certified. According to latest updates the camera manufacturers and the helmet companies are trying to make camera mounts part of the certification process and are/will be built into the helmet. Also states that the European racing circuit has banned helmet cameras for some time and the AMA adopted the same rule.

This place privately owned but open to the public on weekends. Pay $10 ride all day or camp for the weekend. It is called Hansen's Hallow in spragville,IA. Lots of great terrain if you really want to test your skills.

@@Drake-472 appreciate that info! That sounds awesome, sounds similar to Brushy Mountain in NC. Any idea how many miles of single track? I'd be coming from Maryland, so trying to figure out if it's worth the journey.

@@bohembillygoats if your passing thru it would be worth the stop for the weekend. I wouldn't drive all the way from there just to ride it and go back. With that said there is probably 6 miles of established single track (mainly what we used for this race) but the entire property is rideable if you feel the need to make your own trails to really challenge yourself. This place also caters to sxs and quads so there are tons of wide trail as you can see in zac's vid.

@@Jrod_FPV yes the property the event was held on ( Hansen hollows ) is a weekend operated off road park. $10 to ride all day and $20 to ride and camp. There is another off road park about 5 miles away that sits on 400+ acres same type of terrain

Fyi...visor attached cameras are legal. Visors are not considered, or tested, as part of the helmet shell. The rule is intended to protect the structural integrity of the shell.

The helmet is made to provide protection and is not a platform to attach foreign objects. For example, cameras or other accessories are NOT permitted to be attached to the rider’s helmet, this includes the mouth guard and the visor." -taken from the AMA rule clarification bulletin that was published 1-21-21

@@specializedbighitfsr Yes...exactly. Visors are not attached to helmets during FMVSS testing. They are not a part of the helmet shell. FMVSS 218 requires them to be removed prior to testing/approval. Therefore...since the AMA is not requiring anyone to remove their visors...anything attached to the visor is also exempt. Sadly, the AMA couldn't have done a much worse job with the verbiage of their rule, leaving it completely open to interpretation of each District. It's total garbage. The bulletin that was sent only further supports those who feel the rule was not motivated by safety concerns but rather monetary concerns tied to commercial agreements for the broadcast of amateur events. No one can provide you any evidence/data showing that a camera mounted to a visor or mouth-guard would negate that helmets ability to meet FMVSS requirements...again because those components are not part of the testing. I encourage anyone interested to have the conversation with their District President. My District is not actively enforcing this rule.

Man I watch a lot of riding videos but this was hard to watch. Your chest mount is more dizzying to watch than most. Not sure why. I think it's because you're in superview or something and it brings in SO MUCH foreground activity. Maybe try the next narrower shooting mode

Camera view? What are the rules now? I have a Go Pro Sessions, very small, sits right under my visor. Literally just above my eyes, not in my vision in any way and not sticking out in any way. I wish I could send you a photo. Maybe it would work for you. Sometimes it gets the visor too but it literally give a view exactly like I see it. You could see the angle in my videos up on you tube. They are unedited though and I’m definitely not a pro rider lol. Just an average joe But the camera angle is awesome! Check one out for a second. (Not trying to get views! I really only put them up on you tube so much friends can watch themselves. Lol they love that. I love your videos! I can appreciate your bike skills, and video editing skills! You put so much into them ! Thanks for sharing!
