It’s imposter syndrome and it’s normal.
We tend to go into work believing that we need to know everything and have all the answers. We’re afraid that if we don’t know everything, people will think we aren’t good enough. Then we look around at everyone else at work and worry that they may find out that we’re not perfect and we’ll get fired.
That’s the nature of imposter syndrome.
The key is that you’re not getting paid to be perfect. You’re getting paid to solve the problems you were hired to solve. If you don’t know what to do, allow yourself the time to figure it out. If you go in a direction that doesn’t work, change direction.
Any good manager should recognize that perfection is not the goal. You’re working together to solve problems.
Everyone is human. You’re going to be okay.
