Why do I think this stream is too dangerous to cross, even though Farouk has done it a few times? ☀️

Apollo is our 11-year-old, pure-bred Friesian he is a good horse for a beginner rider. He has a lovely collected canter and is a great farter. He is herd leader over Farouk who is a pure-bred Arabian horse, Farouk is 9 years old and loves galloping and is a good endurance horse. He is the Grandson of the famous Marwan Al Shaqab and then there is Princess Bella a Four-Year Old pure-bred Andalusian filly her speciality is bucking and jumping for joy.

Sounds like boggy and slippery footing for Farouks hooves..😮 excellent decision on the deep stream - Farouk hesitated for good reason! I was so glad that you turned around at the fast water. What with the sun glare it would be hard to see if there were submerged sticks or other dangerous things below the surface. Farouk didn’t seam bothered at all by the narrow wood bridge. 💕

I've ridden across this stream on a number of occasions when hacking out from Friar's Hill. It was always in the summer but even then it was quite deep. The safe way across is narrow and there's quite a drop to the right of where the sun is reflecting on the water but you can't really see it. You did right to turn back.The route through the woods is a nice alternative.

I'd lean on the safe side and avoid going across the stream, too. When it's moving like that, you can't really see the bottom clearly so you don't really know where you're going to be stepping.

I agree. Nothing is worth risking your horse’s safety and health - or your own. One slip or deep pocket could be disastrous.

Weathers been mental, rivers are high, fields are flooded. I wouldn't trust any "usual" crossings at the minute everything is twice as high as you think! Drove my car through a massive puddle that looked same as always but was a bit of a shock!

Better safe indeed. I think Farouk would have gone but as you said it's been some time since you rode this way, you don't know if the stream bed has changed and the water is too deep ,fast and glaring to have a clue about the bottom. On to the 'other way'

They put better road surfaces on near houses to deaden the noise, or so I was once told. I notice it on our little M53 where it comes closest to the houses.

I’m glad you decided not to cross the steam too! You’ve had so much rain everything is running high and it’s not your regular hack. Streams do change and can be unpredictable!
