However, for India, the name was given by Greeks and later used by colonials, the British, who addressed every tribe, uncouth and uncultured by their standards as Indians - there are red Indians, West Indians, Indians in Australia, America etc! Why should India stick with the name that did not emerge from its own people and the name that represents colonial oppression?

Hinduism doesn't but in current situation, 10,000 people have converted to Hindu in Ukraine, Its the fastest growing religion in Australia, New Zealand.. And many other things.. Many atheists do yoga, talk about kundalini, chakra, have posters of Krishna, but still don't convert.. Because they want to be "free" but they are actually Hindus.. 😁 Also there is no fixed ritual to convert.. In christianity, Islam there is a fixed ritual..

@Scorpion Bites there are many ugly things in Hinduism not talked about...what caste you will be after conversion...beef eating person will be a scheduled caste dalit as per Hinduism...there are many more hurdles...Hinduism is an umbrella word for many philosophies and beliefs..what this guy is talking about is what is taught to him at iskcon...Bhagavad gita is not the ultimate book and it is only a summary given as a dialogue between the two i.e. krishna as a guru and his follower arjuna...me as a Shiva bhakt believe in Shiva sutras and Isha Upanishads as the highest and they are not one book...in india we have Krishna who is telling to go for war and fight and Christ is asking to love his neighbour...the same story in different ways to suit the land and context...I don't see any difference of Krishna and Christ stories and I believe both are the same that are told to suit the need..real knowledge is hidden in Isha Upanishads...the world has to understand to that energy whether positive or negative are still the same...Shiva is the only God who does not differentiate between the good or bad humans but grants their wishes if they are sincere and have integrity i.e. their body and mind are in union with their prayers

Even in ancient times the stories of riches and civilization in India ( also in China ) were spread far and wide. Through most of ancient history India and China were the most populous and prosperous regions of the world. Then to say that Middle East was advanced and India was backwards is stupid.

India and China were the most prosperous and populous regions throughout ancient history. This goes way back to the bronze age when even Indo Aryans hadn't begun their migration. The Levant and Egypt and Greece also had ancient civilizations it is not a contest.

I grew up in Canada and the US and I heard it frequently though to the credit of those raised on those counttries, at least as children, they said it in a nice way - "we believe that if you don't believe in our god (jesus/allah), you will burn in hell for eternity" Honestly, I am MUCH happier with people saying this openly than people doing it in a more subtle undermining manner like Audrey Trushcke whose father-in-law is a pastor of the largest conversion ministry in India which got shut down by the Modi govt. Now she wages war pretending casteism is the only relevant part of Hinduism, yoga and meditation are not Hindu and Muslims are exclusively being persecuted in India (also denies Hinduphobia and ignores violence against Muslims outside of india).

Because we look at bible and quran as viewpoint of the people of that respective areas at those particular times. It's understandable that people were speculating about cosmology and emergence of life on the earth without actual knowledge. Our approach was different. We learnt from real experience and the summary was orally transmitted in the form of poems. Later on they were written down as poem collections as it was difficult for common man to memorise them all.

I disagree.. Hinduism may or may not have 'descended' from any divine force. It is a logical and democratic (we all have a choice - believe it or not!) system of living. And that freaks out all those who are caste in the rigid "this is right, this is wrong - because "A" book says so"! mode of thinking.. You and I are Free to accept or not accept that there even exists any "divine" higher force. Entirely up to us. At the root, is the amazing democratic principle of "one man, one god".. why just these, you are free to create your own "God" and worship it/him/her, no one stops you. [Vishnu, Shiva and Devi - these are the 3 most broadly accepted "deities".. but again, these are symbols and not to be taken literally, imho] This system lays emphasis on a person's conduct (karma), measured against certain universal principles (dharma), which principles seek to make the world's family (vasudaiva kutumbakam) happy (sarvo jana sukhina bhavanthu) and healthy (sarva santhu niramaya) etc.. And when dharma is disturbed significantly, then a manifestation of the divine descends on earth, to correct the imbalance. Dear Friends and fellow Indians, through you, your channel and all other channels and meduims of communication, I write an Open Letter addressed firstly to Our Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modiji, to Our State President Sri Ram Nath Kovind, to Our Judiciary, every politician and citizen of India, Bharath Mata Ki Jai. As I sit watching the evening sun set over the sugar cane fields, on the occasion of my 63rd birthday, while listening to the Gita, I feel a sense of uneasy emotions. As the golden Sun sets, the birds come home to roost, the cows return to be milked and the field workers cheerfully return home after a hard but satisfying day's labour, I wonder what will tomorrow bring for these humble beings. When night falls and darkness envelopes this beautiful land, will it be for a well deserved night of rest and rejuvenation, to awaken at the crack of dawn for another beautiful and productive day or will it be that we go to sleep, not knowing if it's to our slaughter tomorrow? I've always been and will be a Proud Indian until my last breath, despite all our challenges and short comings. We are a Proud Nation, Strong People, with a Culture of Hard Work, Generosity, Compassion and Pride. We have proved this over centuries and in the not so distant past with the event of Covid 19. We have withstood, wars, invasions, epidemics and natural disasters of epic proportions, but rose again to be a Proud Nation of Resilient People to become the Largest Democracy in the World. India has never waged a war with any other, but stood shoulder to shoulder with the weak to restore justice, with not a thought or expectation of reward. Certainly no easy feat. We have sheltered persecuted people, helped nations and earned our status at the World Forums, with our own effort. Nothing came easy. Prime Minister Modiji and President Kovindji, all this was possible due to our ancestors having the strength of character and sense of duty, not only to Bharath, but to every plant, animal and living being. Unfortunately our current generation don't have the strength or knowledge, no fault of theirs but to the education system. If we persist on this dangerous path, I feel fearful of the legacy that we are leaving for our future generations. I have been watching and listening to all the happenings over the last two years with a heavy heart. The JNU Student protest, Delhi CAA protest, farmer protest, Calcutta atrocities and now the security breach, not forgetting all the other murders, killings, frauds etc, too many to list. There comes a time when enough is enough and the status quo has to be established. Even Arujuna had to be persuaded by Lord Krishna to fight the good battle in order to restore peace and justice. WHERE ARE OUR LESSONS OF DHARMA? Why are you skirting around such critical issues that affect every living being in this great land of Bharath. What example are you setting? No action is a sign of weakness. Are you going to allow all these good for nothing and yesterday's rowdies endanger and try to instill fear into this proud and noble people of Bharath? Your inaction makes everyone of us look weak and vulnerable. These abrahamic religions are a huge confused mess and nothing else. One can not hope to find any real logical coherence about issues of even slightly philosophical nature in these religions. What these organized faiths have done is only steal and digest bits and pieces of the earlier faiths and the dharmic traditions over the centuries as they conquered their lands and assimilated their civilizations. As they have remained mostly unopposed and in the dominant position for so long, they had simply stolen, twisted, distorted and assimilated other philosophies, and perfected their own brainwashing tactics and control mechanisms through lies, deceit, blasphemy and hellfire threats, all for their own business and political motives.
