The screws on the AP are not real screws they are nuts. The bezel is screwed in from the back of the case so they can be aligned before screwing it in. As for the Hublot they are the actual screws that hold the bezel in so they are way harder or even impossible to allign. Not saying Hublot are good wartches just stating that that comparrison is not really good.
@tomw485 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for this explanation. I’ve always wondered how the Royal Oak “screws” worked. The heads are octagonal and fit perfectly flush into the bezel. It would be physically impossible to screw them into the bezel like that because you wouldn’t be able to physically turn them. Only a round headed screw would be able to screw down flush with with the bezel surface.
@Xavier-se9mc Жыл бұрын
Neat I didn't know that. But now it makes me ask why AP had the foresight and attention to detail to use the mounting system you described versus just screwing them in from the top like Hublot. Seems lazy

I think one dude said it the best. Spending anything beyond 100 bucks on a watch that does more or less nothing other than telling you the time inaccurately is absolutely ridiculous to people outside the hobby. We collectors justify spending a shit tone of money on our watches by saying there are history, craftsmanship, engineering marvel behind these time pieces. But Hublot ruthlessly exposed that you dont need none of that to sell your watches at such high price. Thus we have to hate hublot. Thus, in some way, we have to hate it to keep making sense of our own hobby
@rayzhang7591 Жыл бұрын
@r2l100 Hublot was founded in 1980. That's not the type of history most watch enthusiasts care about. Although, tbf, brand history/prestige is a pretty silly concept.
@thomcarey1971 Жыл бұрын
Thus you need to stop simping for this (Hublot) company… There are reputable watchmakers that produce quality products. Some of these products are quite expensive. However, you could easily avail yourself of buying a Hamilton, or a Ball to fulfill your need of a quality, mechanical watch. And this is just the Swiss market. Orient, Seiko, and Casio ALSO provide quality pieces in an affordable price range… Choose what you like.

I wouldn’t get too hung up on an “in house” movement. Whether the company builds their movement or sources it externally doesn’t matter so much as whether it’s a good/interesting movement. Even the holy trinity watch brands have all outsourced their movements for various models. Plus one of the examples you gave in the Speedy Pro has historically outsourced their movement to Lemania (it’s now built in-house under Omega but still largely based on the old Lemania design). Rolex even outsourced their Chronograph movements in the Daytona until 2000 (first using the Valjoux 72 manually wound movement from the 1960’s-80’s then going to the Zenith El Primero automatic movement from 1988-2000). Now of course Hublot uses very cheap basic movements in watches that go for 10-20k MSRP. So your point is still absolutely valid. I just wanted to dispel the common belief that a watch needs to have an in house manufactured movement to be considered good (or even great in certain circumstances).

We would chat shoot the shit very down to earth. 10/10 customer service. The watches are questionable for sure, highly unlikely i would buy one again just because the value proposition isn't good. By contrast, my current daily driver is an audemar 15400. AP's customer service is terrible, they are doing you a favor by talking to you, a favor by servicing your piece. Back then there was an overreliance on Eta movements, but now in-house movements are found all across different price ranges, and that alone isn't a big reason to actually hate them. Nowadays the hate is largely just built upon that old hate, and the fact that you can buy better for less. All those guys, like Nico, love Rolex, and Rolex is dull AF. Much of the same hate for Hublot should apply to Rolex. But they don't hate Rolex, because they peddle Rolexes.

I love my classic fusion I’ve had it years now. Sad there’s such a toxic hate towards the brand. If you wanna wear it wear it if you don’t like it don’t wear it simple as
@JgHaverty Жыл бұрын
Its not that its "toxic" that bugs me... its that its soooo fucking ignorant haha. Like in this video, dude talks about omegas having "in house movements" ... no, no they dont lmao. They actually use the literal exact same eta's that hublot use lol. Dudes also clowning around a store; wasting their time and gets pissy when the lady politely asks him to turn the camera off. Shows the caliber of person he is. (Pun intended lol). Scanning through the comment section, its the same 3 ignorant comments regurgitated ("cheap movement!" "Screws arent lined up!" "Id rather have my 12$ casio than a hublot!"); like deadass its literally these three comments on every video with a hublot in it lol. The only valid critique is hublots are "overpriced".... just like every watch over 200$ is "overpriced" 😆(minus gold value ofc). In terms of cost efficacy, a new classic fusion is just a horrible purchase... but a used one... strong arguments can be made for that 👌

Bandwagon! No I don't own one. In house has become this thing. I don't know why. It's a new thing recently. Back in the day, no one had in house movements. Don't like, don't buy. Kinda simple.

Customer service and not letting people take videos depend on the store itself. Fit and finish is arguable, but what about watches like the royal oak 15500, 15400, 15200ST? Aren’t they $50,000 retail? And aren’t 5711s without quick set date also like $30,000 retail before they discontinued? Wasn’t Hublot the first brand to put precious metal on a luxury sports watch? Wasn’t Hublot what made AP come out with the royal oak offshore to compete? People can hate on this brand as much as they like, but every other brand has cut corners just as much as Hublot, and about history, did Richard Mille have history? It’s younger than Hublot. So in conclusion, any reason why you’d hate this brand can be said for all others. Personally for me, I dislike Hublot cuz most of their watches aren’t aesthetically to my taste, but that’s just me.

Well Hublot rips off everybody, is cheaply made from the cheap movement to cheap dial and case with no attention to details, they make too many "limited edition" watches, and doesn't have a history. Im also not a fan of Richard mille but atleast the quality is thousands time better than hublot. Everything in that watch up to the last screw is in-house and way more accurate.

@@soley651 nautilus 5711 without quick set date when they were still in the catalogue for $30,000 isn’t ripping off people? AP with the royal oaks 15500, 15250 etc, also without quick set date, with a WR of 50m for $50,000 retail isn’t ripping off? Forget the heritage. Brands are businesses. Even with all the heritage and “quality” backing those brands up, they still make business moves to cut corners in a certain way to keep them competitive in the market. Everything about why people hate Hublot is literally what every watch brand has done. It’s all personal bias in the end
@soley651 Жыл бұрын
@@gwb914 by ripping off I meant ripping off the designs. Not the money. These are "luxury" watches. No shit they're all overpriced. You shouldn't be looking for a bargain
@gwb914 Жыл бұрын
@@soley651 Patek Philippe ripped off the design of the royal oak as well. By literally hiring the same guy that designed the royal oak to design their very own luxury integrated bracelet sports watch to rival them and to compete with them. They are literally based off the same inspiration of the porthole. Name every bad thing Hublot has done, and literally every other watch brand has done the same. Like I said, they’re all businesses in the end. Any distaste to a particular brand is due to personal bias.

Hublot are expensive because Jean Claude Biver helped revive the brand and he’s a heavy hitter in watches. That’s why. I’m not saying they are worth it though! They are for brash new money types in Europe and professional soccer players.

The main issue is only on the finishing & how much they are charging for a low end non inhouse movement which is probably present in watches at the 1-3k usd range. In short: hublot is absolutely ripping you off 300% and its not even a very very well designed watch. its just a copy of many watches combined (especially from AP because one of the few pple who made hublot big was from AP/worked at AP ; jean claude biver). When it looks not as good as the original, and it costs so much, u have better alternatives and better horological choices. Its as simple as that.
