Get over it! The whole world has involvement in that type of behavior many years past, Romans, Germans, Turkey, Spanish , Italians, French, Chinese , Aficans, etc etc , But the point is the Irish have such an agenda against the Brits that they are blinded to everything else.

No. People do know how bad the empire was and I appreciate how people like McClean feel. However if we're expected to understand how people like the Catholics of Northern Ireland feel then understand how the working classes of Britain feel. The poppy isn't a symbol showing supporting for the British Empire or the British Military. For the working classes it's to remember of the wasted lives fed into the war machine. When the Catholics of Derry see a poppy they see soldiers killing protestors. When the average Englishmen sees a poppy they're thinking of the manipulated 16 year olds that were sent off to die in a pointless war.

@@BingleFlimp No some of us respect all the poor souls who lost their lives . The Irish republicans who were still under British rule during WW1 who fought too. Not all Brits like Glasgow Rangers and their British flag waving. Don't see British clubs in England with all that stuff at most games. Only at Chelsea all that Blues Bros crap.

As a British soldier, 1970 - 1993! Paratroop and regiment blade I don’t mind his views at all. I was at Londonderry on Sunday Bloody Sunday 1972 and it’s obvious he is not going to wear a poppy coming from that area.

Lots of Irish fought in both world wars but in nationalist areas like Derry the emblem has connotations to bloody Sunday.... where were you stationed?

People need to think about James McClean as someone with integrity, with the strength of conviction, to go against the approved narrative. He has made his case about the poppy and stands by it. Contrast that with the gormless compliance of his fellow professionals, who all comply with wearing the poppy. Another interesting situation is the almost 100% compliance in bending the knee for BLM. James McClean. A man of integrity and who can think for himself. Thanks James, top man!

Even as a Brit, I understand his distain for Britain/England. What I can’t get behind is that he’s perfectly happy enjoy the spoils that come along with playing in England (or EFL to be exact, I’m aware Wrexham is Wales). Just comes across as hypocrisy personally. I’d be like me joining a Just Stop Oil protest and driving home in a Hummer afterwards Nice video bro, cool hearing an Irish perspective :)

He hates the British/english military and the royal family. I wasn't aware that the EFL was ran by the military and royal family. That's like saying that people from the many countries that got screwed over by England/Britain can't come to work here just because their economies, development, etc got messed up by England.
