The “sinkie pwn sinkie” mindset essentially refers to the belief that Singaporeans gain satisfaction from making other Singaporeans worse off. And from complaining about others on Facebook, to fat shaming our very own olympic gold medalist Joseph Schooling, WHY do we love to hate our own kind?
In this episode our hosts discuss whether those sentiments ring true and why we only seem to be proud of our country when someone else says something good.

I love love Tea Talks y’all. Thank you for bringing up topics and subject matters that sgporeans don’t necessarily talk about. This roundtable/podcast style of format is so great! Speaking as a singaporean from Canada ❤

The sinkie pawn sinkie culture is more prevalent in the corporate settings than social media itself. The fact that sinkie is not able to work together and support one another in career development is just disappointing as compared to the ceca.

I wonder where you get the idea Singaporeans turned on Joseph Schooling? 1. He was winning medals at commonwealth games, SEA games, Asian games. We were already celebrating him and him winning the gold Olympic medal was such a monumental moment for us. 2. After winning, a lot of Singaporeans were wondering if he would be exempted from NS since winning the medal was already a great service for the nation. Actually a lot of Singaporeans are supporting and still rooting for our sports people, from Low Kean Yew, Shanti Pereira. The vocal minority online don't represent the views of the silent majority.

That is because we are so sick of toxic positivity, so we need to advocate for negative emotions and reinforcement to keep people grounded and ensure they remain humble and not over their own heads

It just envy, jealousy, unable to achieve what that person is able to. human behaviour not only local but anyone else overseas or other country too do the same. when things aren't the norm. That causes everything.

Ah yes. Humans do it all over the world and somehow Singaporeans are singled out as special. This woke narrative is getting out of hand.
