I’m so impressed. Wonderful techniques, Mr Colgan. I Love how you note that every time when hanging wallpaper, not to be cocky because of the tendency for different things or issues to arise with different varieties of wallpaper.

"To get the seams just right, you need to know the Time, Paste, Paper ratio". So how would I get this information for my wallpaper project? How does one tell how quickly the wallpaper is absorbing the paste?? I can tell when the paste is drying because the strip is no longer 'moveable' for adjustment. Also, "Clay based glue when you're using dark pigmented colors". Why can't clay based be used on lighter color paper?? Doesn't it dry clear? The coolest part of your video was matching the patch piece at the bottom by cutting through the dark color....Wow! Flawless! Impressive!

Different countries appear to use different paste/ glue systems to apply the wallpaper on different surface wall finishes. Plus different prepping of the wall systems.

keep calling out those people who make nasty comments to other decorators . It is not neccesary to be nasty if there is a criticism to be made. You are very gracious, and it's a shame that others are not so considerate when commenting.

Life is so much enjoyable with decent quality materials, I use Beeline ready mixed wallpaper adhesive so much better than traditional paste by far as you say traditional paste is just too wet wich will expand the wallpaper

As usually great content Spencer. Have you ever hung Scalamandre Zebra wallpaper Spencer? If yes what's the booking time for it. My Pal has a nightmare with the wrinkles not going away after two days of drying in warm house. He hung it over linining paper that was bone dry. Both lining and Scalamandre were glued with Roman 880. Any help please. Your fan from Ireland.

What do you think to the wallpapers where the seams simply won’t disappear and you can see them up close? This happens especially on white wallpaper
@Alfonzo334 жыл бұрын
Wow great explanation how and when to use Roman 774!. Spencer, got a question, once you said that you have used Roman's 880 and 838 interchangeably (if I'm not wrong). Do you still agree with this? If not, when do you advice using 880 and 838? Thanks.
@spencercolgan4 жыл бұрын
Yes sir! Luis, my YT friend....I still agree. Because it’s still the case. I’m told, although I have yet to see this to be true for myself, that 880 and 838 have one difference and that is that 838 produces less bubbles. Sometimes the store does not have 880 and so I get the 838 but both work the same for me
@Alfonzo334 жыл бұрын
Great! Thanks Spencer for sharing your experience again. I'm sorry for my late response, some how I missed your answer. Now, according to the specs, 880 is strippable and 838 doesn't. However I have removed wallpaper installed with 838 and it shows strippable characteristics. Would 880 be stripped even easier? Have you removed 880? Thanks.

2 days ago, I put up backing paper , I needed to paste the wall aswell as paper, it was drying into the wall too quickly, anyway it worked fine, seams stayed tight, yesterday I was getting a little more done, so new bucket of paste same make, I thought I'd make the paste thicker this time, went up a lot better, bubbled more on application but got it bubble free, this morning I have gaps on my seams from yesterday, its even peeled from the wall on one peice at the top, it's just backing paper but iam pissed, never since I was 15yrs old iam 52 now have I had this issue , not sure to fill it or rip it down

How ever. When installing phillip jeffries. Japanese silk. Is the same issue. But.... clay stains. The paper. What is your advise on that?
@spencercolgan3 жыл бұрын
I would mist the material with water. Just a mist! Apply the adhesive to wall obviously and the 2 should bond well. Let adhesive set till just tacky.

How do you keep from getting the glue on the front of the wall covering.
@spencercolgan4 жыл бұрын
1. Although there is no need to keep paste off of all wallcovering, you would: A. Avoid pushing it out from under the paper. B. Roll on the paste without rolling over the back onto the pattern side.
@roseannanderson71634 жыл бұрын
@@spencercolgan Thank you Spencer What I really wanted to know was, on commercial wall covering how do you keep the clay base off the front of the paper when you're pasting it. Because once you get the clay base on there it stains the paper.
@spencercolgan4 жыл бұрын
Roseann Anderson, you roll it on the backing or put it on a pasting machine and be very diligent Roseann to keep that glue away from the front. I know. Not a breakthrough! But. That’s what I do.

Okay. This is at the time of installing new wallpapers. But what about if this occurs a couple months after new wallpapers were installed? How do you fix that?
@spencercolgan4 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t happen months later. It happens within the first few hours after hanging each sheet. You have to nurse the seams, meaning, go back and check as you continue to install it. This is what I said to do at the end of this installation. Please review the video.

@@spencercolgan In my country we don't have that type of glue... And I had an experience, after installation of wallpaper to my client he came and opened windows, because there were quite hot in the room and high humidity... next day when I came wallpaper did shrink.. I had to rip it, and do it again.... Another time I came to another of my clients, he did wallpaper on not even color wall and after that you could see the difference in parts of wall that the color under is not even... After these experience we always paint the wall. The wall like yours it would take me 30 min to paint. After that its only fast work with wallpaper and I'm done... And you know what else we do: we make cut in inside corners. Because most likely in some years wallpaper will be loose in inside corner if it wont be cuted. That is our experience and how we do it to get perfect results, guaranteed results in fast time - because time=money. And this method isn't mine... many contractors do like this and I have learned from my experience that it works better for me. Cheers :)

William, that’s what happens when you’re a hustler and you’re working hard alone, and you want to teach people your craft, and you’re the only guy there doing the job in holding the camera at the same time. People like you are so negative that your comments are better off kept in your mind rather than come from your hand or your mouth. That is why they make water and sponges by the way
