The climate activist should have pushed another substance as the problem child, that aside most other types of pollution are valid concerns. It's hard to care about what you look like when a 2 year old is literally crawling up your leg... But honestly I see a lot of married and older married women wearing a lot of makeup. A lot has to do with what clothes a woman wears for work. Wearing dressed up clothes without makeup is kind of like wearing a dress with sneakers. It doesn't go together. And you have to look closely. Older women may be wearing makeup, but it's not as noticeable on a more adult face than on younger faces.

Here's a few random points on this topic: - Google Kim Kardasian without makeup. She's like a 6 at best. So in her case meticulously using makeup literally made her a fortune. So in her case it paid off. - I live in silicon valley where the ratio of men to women is heavy on dudes with a good portion of them being nerdy software devs and engineers that are happy with any woman, except fat ones. As a result women around here wear little to no makeup, and they aren't fat. - The trend of women wearing ridiculously long fake fingernails and ridiculous fake eyelashes is clearly not for men. Men are ambivalent to this at best but most are turned off by it. So it begs the question, what are they doing it for???

About 25-30% of her weekly income was spent to essentially cripple herself. (I'd imagine they need replacing at least once a month or so?) I have long thought that women had limited interest in men. So I never thought women used makeup for men's sake. The number one reason is for personal vanity. Because women do still recognize female beauty and makeup helps them feel beautiful. And the second primary reason is for other women. They are all very competitive with each other. I never put on make up as an adult but last year I had to cater for a party and my boss who is female told me to dress pretty, because I mainly dress down since I am rarely invited to parties. I knew the mechanics of dressing pretty but doing it on myself, I was panicking. I know nothing on concealer, contour nothing. So I stuck with hair and getting lipstick. Getting my hair done was nearly $200 dollars and just for some lipstick from a chain pharmacy was freaking $14.99! I even said to the ladies who I had to buy the weave for my hair that I get the expression why beauty is such a pain. The night of the party was a success! My boss and coworkers said they didn't recognize me when I first walked in. It felt nice to be complimented, but oh boy beauty is not only expensive it's a freaking pain! Literally, because I had to wear flats for the first time in decades and I could barely walk in them.😢

​@@michah321 Thanks for the well thought out and honest reply. There are things, I believe, that most of us all do just for the sake of fitting into society. Putting on makeup is almost kin, or more or less, to taking a shower and wearing clean clothing. Your response has helped me see things in a different light. Speaking for me personally, when I was younger I did things to better fit in and improve my chances in life; work, friendships and dating but these days there are so many different opinions out there that you just need to pick a path for yourself and just do it your own way.

I grew up hearing that men want natural women, no makeup, no frills. I wear makeup on a daily basis, even when I am only visiting my parents, definitely not to impress men.
