It's funny how some people feel buyer's remorse a lot, perhaps sometimes even too much, but other people don't feel it much at all. I'm more the type of person who feels it a lot. Especially for somewhat larger purchases, like anything that is a few hundred bucks or more. I'm a musician and I play acoustic guitar, and just this year I bought a really cool vintage acoustic guitar, and I really like it, but in retrospect it wasn't necisary, because now that I am more educated I realize for a smaller investment I could have bought a really nice good quality used modern guitar from a different brand, but vintage guitars just tend to appreciate somewhat in value due to their rarity and unique character, thus fetching a higher price. I could always sell the vintage guitar, but I may not be able to get what I payed for it depending on the market. Sometimes when I get bored with life I end up buying things on a whim, but later I can feel a bit remorseful about it if I realize I didn't really need it in the first place. For that reason, it is best for me to take more time to think if I really want to buy something, to avoid buying things on impulse.

Hi professor Wolters! I am Julia, from Russia. I learn English on Bob's short lessons channel and he gave the phrase" buyer's remorse" so I wanted to know more about it and I found that phrase on your channel! I really liked the way how you explain it! I slowed down the video a bit and turned on the subtitles so I could understand! And I would like to say thank you!

I think I simply have anxiety or something. Our 15 year old dishwasher died. It cannot be fixed for under the price of a mid range new one. We need a new one. We set aside a budget for it. I have researched and compared different brands. I've researched features. I've talked to owners of new dishwashers. I've looked at different stores. I've physically looked at so many store display dishwashers. I finally purchased one yesterday, came in about $150 under budget, and now I'm up at 3 in the morning looking up videos about buyer's remorse... 😫

This Sounds Ridiculous, But, I play a lot of soccer (Football) and have some interesting growing in my feet, I need to buy a lot of new shoes, mainly because the shoes break after weeks, I feel bad because my parents don't want me to buy good and expensive boots, I generally like colourful shoes, so they are more expensive. Yesterday I bought new boots which were $55 (I always try to get them on sale) and I trained today... Turns out they shift around at the back when I am sprinting, which makes me feel worried. I don't know how to tell my parents I need to refund them and of course buy new ones, even though this time I bought them with my money, I had an opportunity to wait 16 days and get amazing boots shipped to my house, but stupid little old me, wanted to get boots right away, my parents told me to shut up and not complain after I made a purchase that they weren't happy about. I really am puzzled and I can't sleep thinking about this mistake...

We had a little restaurant in Honduras that said if you didn't like the food, you didn't have to pay. We tried the pupusas and we're hooked and had to get tacos too. I knew the worse that would happen is I'd have food we didn't like and we didn't have to pay. We kept going back after that. I love companies that limit buyer's remorse. Do comments on KZbin videos help the video get more views?
@ProfessorWolters5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a restaurant we should check out. Comments do help because it shows KZbin that the video has a high engagement rate and that usually means the video is more relevant so they should show it to more people

I know this video is a bit older but maybe someone will read it. I have buyers remorse on every single one of my purchases. I think it also get amplified by my ADHD. So i always buy my stuff somewhere where i can return the goods within a certain peroid. This way i can kinda (make friends) with my purchase and see if before the return period ends i am still not really sure i made the right decision. But this got me in trouble already with a big Online Marketplace (THE BIG A) Sometimes i also get kinda buyers remorse attacks where i dont know what to do or what i really want. This often makes Life in general a hard time.

Love that these videos make me think. Ha. Need a bit of clarification, Mark. So, let's say I pick up six Oktoberfest beers. After I make my purchase and as I'm leaving I start to think perhaps I should have gone all German instead of a mix of German and American beers. Classic buyer's remorse albeit mild but I get it. So, the question. What if I drink one of the beers and I don't like it? It's not unpleasant but super thin and lacks flavor. Simply not liking something after purchase is NOT buyer's remorse, right? I bought a book I couldn't get into and eventually stopped reading it. Making a bad choice isn't necessarily buyer's remorse. Or is it?
@ProfessorWolters5 жыл бұрын
No. It's not. That is just bad luck.
@ProfessorWolters5 жыл бұрын
But the feeling you have walking out of the store thinking, "did I buy the wrong beer?" That is buyers remorse. The fact the beer sucks... that's just the s.o.l. analysis ;)
@tosht25155 жыл бұрын
@Professor Wolters Perfect. That's what I thought. The SOL bad choice 😂 is where I was hoping you'd go. My friend's wife is always dissatisfied with the food she orders and after a few bites she usually says "I've got buyer's remorse again!" but really she simply is not used to well prepared food because she can't cook and they eat only salty basic stuff at home. It's quite hilarious eating out with that couple. Thanks for the response as always.

@Professor Wolters BTW, the beer purchase example was completely contrived because I know I'm going back in a week for more so it's all good. Ha.

Idk if i have buyers remorse, because its nothing even close to major, nor do i regret either of my purchases. I feel like its more of feeling bad because there was something i ultimately chose not to purchase, but I wish I did, and now I dont have the option to purchase something like it again for atleast a few months, more likely to be a year. How long is this going to last, are there any ways I can put an end to these poor feelings? Thanks.
