I worked at both a state prison as Native American Spiritual leader and at a D and A rehab doing basically the same work. Often at the rehab when I would smudge the clients at least one would display some sort of reluctance. When I had finished smudging the entire group I would call out the one with the issue and add lots of sage to the pot and tell him that he, must apparently be in dire need of cleansing and would then cover him up in a huge cloud of smoke. I love the whole concept. In fact, I'm past due on a smudge today.

Thank you for sharing with us this video. I'm part Native American, but my father passed before I could ask all these questions and learn from him and my grand parents. We lost touch of my father's parents and family once he passed, I was 7 yrs old. I learned from reading and videos to burn sage to remove the negative energies around me and my home and family, but never knew exactly this teaching. So thank you for that. I will definitely Smudge as done in video.

Iam from the island of Cebu Philippines. ive been smudging the entire house daily since year 2006... essential oils been burning almost 24 hours a day. I didnt really know why iam like this, this is just me, a habbit that I had and it feels so good when I dot it... lately this month it was reveaed to me through past life regression that I was an ant man, who teach the indians in americas from the diistant past about natural medicine...so i realized thats where I got my affection to nature... going back to smudging, it really helps from healing and having a clear sound mind...and people always compliment me how calming our house is and they end up doing it to because I influenced them.

Smudging is to REMIND us of a Spiritual STATE of BEING, we KNEW when we had many Dreamers/Meditators practicing. My Spiritual Teacher called this Body/Plane of Being "The Wind Spirirt Born" & it IS a Cleansing Level, but we must learn to move up into the Life Current & Learn to consciously Walk the Way Home while we are still on the Hoof, so to speak. We are Spirits having a HUMAN experience & our Mother is the School for that Soul Growth. Now is a time of gleaning, of winnowing, & Great Sorrows & Trials to come! What kind of #ToxicColonizer CULTURE & THINKING have you assimilated? Take the Best & Leave the Rest! #SacredCircleOfLife + #ValueChange4Survival

Then maybe you should learn first....this isnt just "burning some magical herbs for bad energy"... What do you want it for? Where did you get it? We have procedures for gathering these plants that is very important to us....we don't buy, or pick without a ceremony for just that, unless it was given to us. So all in all...smudging itself is just part of a ceremony but it's very important. we do it before the day starts, before we travel and go about our day in hopes that all goes well. We smudge when we lose someone, as well as when they are born....we smudge to carry our prayers to the Creator. Right now indigenous peoples in the americas are having a problem with outsiders coming in their lands and stealing mass amounts of these plants, our sacred medicines. These people come and deplete our sources of medicine and sell them at fucking forever21 and what not, labelled as "witch kits" ..i mean, how disrespectful is that, it's just another slap in the face to the indigenous people and wildlife. Personally, i don't have a problem with outsiders learning our peoples' ways that was given to us, as long as it's done Right...in a good way. Miigwech..may the Creator take pity on you.
