When setting intentions prior to a smudge, I also open a window and state out loud that "what no longer serves me, please leave through the window". It's important that the negative energy has a place to escape to. You don't want to trap it inside (if you're smudging indoors). Love the video! Something I feel is a mistake (but might not be depending on who you ask): Neglecting to "wash" your hands. When Smudging I was always taught to "wash" my hands in the smoke first before smudging the rest of me.

I would also add , SAFTY FIRST always remember that a single spark can lead to burning down the entire house , village , forest . Be responcable when handling fire , even if it’s just an incent stick . The other day , I was in my shed , burning sage invents etc . A single spark fell from an incent stick , down into a box full of plastic wrapping from an eBay purchase . I went to my house for a coffee , and when I got back to the shed there were flames 1 meter or so high from this box on fire , next to my quad and petrol cans . Yea that was a surprise , luckily I got it under control , but it was a close one . Learn from my bad .

In my Native tribe we take the process a little further, aside from smoking a space or self. The actual act of taking the ashes and "smudge" into walls, over entry ways, persons, or amulet. Hence the word smudge. Smearing. Lol. Spreading burnt ashes around the areas to consecrate. Basically spreading your intentions around the space. What's your reason or point for burning sage? We use Sage to remove negative emotions rather than energies. Like after an argument or an attack from someone. Someone mourning, or just in a pissy mood and you are spreading it like wild fire. You are in contol of your intentions, you created or manifest. Essentially removing any karmic connection. We finish by replacing that empty space with positive emotions. Or creating boundaries for protection of your space or relationships. Emotions are like water, it'll flow to least resistance, and it can flow right back if unharnessed. Build an energetic dam to keep that controlled. I found that using other sources help with spiritual situations. Not in this topic.

Had a healer come to our house and we have very angry spirits, she said, due to a massacre on the land. I feel so bad about that. They communicated with her what they wanted from us and one of the things is for my son to smudge outside with some sage sticks that he has made and with palo santo which I just received today. I've heard of smudging but not really familiar with how to do it so this is why I am here. We have done some of the other things the spirits have requested and look forward to giving them all that they've asked for. We are heartbroken at what they went through.

Not sure what culture you got your process from. Seems like you took tradition and tried to make it your own thing.. I prefer the Native American Traditions.. they make more sense. While in NY my mother needed to sell her house. I brought my smudge stick along and smudged the house with the intention for my mother’s house to sell. Maybe this is not to be believed but all the spirits in the house left. My husband saw two spirits and I saw two spirits. It was amazing….My mom’s house eventually sold and my mom died. I agree with others here there are mistakes one's smudging. It's similar to a meditation practice... when one does it routinely one gets more connected to our creator. For those of you on the fence wishing to be in the smudging world...there's no wrong way to do something here. If it helps, you can always reach out to a local tribe to teach you how to properly smudge. Some tribes share and some don't. Some tribes don't even use sage. As for using white sage, I personally won't buy it or use from the bushes found in the wild as it is a sacred plant. I grow my own. I believe the intention and care I put into nurturing the plant gives me a more spiritual connection.

I'm so glad I looked on here for smudging. This is the first video that came up for me. I've not smudged before but I'm getting prepared to smudge my home. I swear every article and picture I saw in them, have the sage still bundled together when they use it. I'm part Cherokee myself but we never knew any of our descendants or any of their culture or traditions. I feel very connected to this particular video and the ways you have explained what to avoid doing. @@MalloryRoseCo it really does I use a stick my friend Thunder Bear taught me how and was my shaman. I Sage out and then sage in all around me above and below. My friend Geronimo taught me the Ho great grandfather prayer. I miss them greatly but they are with in spirit. I am here to carry on. Pedro was from the otter clan and sadly he's gone now to so I have a bunch of great men watching over me giving me strength every day. I am a brother and ally. I hope to meet indigenous friends here in NC but it's difficult. I am originally from out west love it here and the no kill animal sanctuary is going wonderful It will happen I have faith.

Hello I'm new to your channel the only thing I didn't understand was when you said don't use all of your sage in one setting I didn't understand it because at the first time you said Don't Force to sage out let it go out by itself and if it goes out by itself wouldn't that mean that it is being used all up or something?

When I first started smudging I made several mistakes, I never smudged myself prior to smudging the area so any negative feelings at the time would interfere with the process of smudging the area, so my intention was not clear. I would also blow out the smudge stick without it burning out on its own. I would also forget to open a window. I was told that the direction from where you start to smudge is also important…not sure if that matters.

I feel during this time Covid seems at lowest level. With that intention of remembering 2019-2023 journey,... good to cleanse away judging spirits, as it is time to accept Spirit of Living direction ...walking in frequency of past losses of strength departed the regular day for self others and heaven's blessings that were left in hope. And happy for future spiritual guidance to have peace filled work to enjoy rested fruitfulness No harsh over doing it to receive God's world.

I read that after you smudge you have to bury the ashes or else the act of smudging is not completed. Is this true? Can I smudge with juniper and cedar that I have around my house? Thank you!

Waft the smoke clockwise toward yourself. Do not blow smoke clockwise, waft with hand or feather! It okay to blow to light the bundle only. Waft clockwise to the west at the end to send or banish all negativity! Send it to the west. Blessings of Light 🙏❤️🤗
