I actually had this experience before. I remember I was Crystal Maiden, I fed very badly in early game, so I raged and decided to just stay in fountain at wait for things to happen. I thought I'm throwing game, but turns out because I'm always in fountain and spectating the map, I always get to teleport to the right tower at the right moment! Because of that we made a comeback and won the game lol. Perhaps patience is the key to succes.

I wouldnt describe it as doing nothing. I would describe it as taking a team approach to one-persom activities. They look like they're standing around, but in their minds they're all farming the same creep wave. Or it looks like they're standing around, but they're all farming the same jungle camp. Or it looks like they're standing around, but they're actually all considering where the next ward should be. Herald dota isnt so much inefficient in that people dont have things to do. It's more that, in trying to do everything together they never get more done than a single hero could.

Almost all of the time, a slow siege is much better or even a fake retreat because vision is everything when taking raxes. Please do a video on contesting high ground. What Arteezy is doing is using fog to hide information from the enemy. During moments where the enemy is missing off the map, he will go to places where he knows there is no vision and find farm to purposely hide his farm progress so he can surprise the enemy team with a core item. He will typically do this during pro matches, even risking the courier for the entire team to get an item last minute to surprise his enemies during a fight. This is an excellent analysis and presentation as usual. I would love to see an updated video that goes more in-depth into using fog to win games.

My last game was like this. I was farming top on jugg. 9 people running around in mid like headless chickens. I had BF and pushed creeps hard. My team was pinging me like mad to go back to them but I knew I would just waste time and probably die with them. I pushed and got t2 top, while all were fighting in front of our base I went to mid and got t2 tower and denided creeps so they couldn't push mid. After that I went to bot and got t1 tower. Some heroes died but I got 3 towers by myself. I got so fat from split pushing I completely destroyed their team and won the game. Do what you think is best to win a game, always.

I also do woodsmanning but in laning stages. Basically, sometimes, i dont contest the very first bounty rune when i see the opposing heroes are stunners, instead ill cut all trees near my tower so my enemies will have hard time to harrass me. They can't hide in the trees and harrass me right clicking me little by little. And also i can clearly what they are doing since there are no blind map in that area. I also put obs in there so that i have better vision and would not worry from a gank. It really helps a lot.

Well people rush because that's the n1 lesson of Dota: you NEVER do enough. There is no such thing as "ok, now I've got all the gold and all the exp in the world and I'll never need more". Ok, there IS such a thing in Dota, it's the hero's peak and super-late. But all newbies lose because they have been outfarmed. And after the first 100+ hours it's burned into your mind: whatever I do I must get more, more, MORE. And let's be honest, playing carefully and doing nothing is not the same. This "woodsmanning" is simply "picking a good position in advance". It's not idling, it's actually hunting. Arteezy obviously knows when it's time to go fight. If he thought it was a good time to farm more, he would go and farm. He'd ward the forest or ask for cover and go sweep the camps. "Does nothing" means "ambushing", letting the foes make a mistake first. And if he really does nothing, he gets jumped by a smoke-attack. Waiting till enemies make a move does that.

This won't work in ranks of Archon and below, because chances of getting ganked in your jungle is lower when the enemy is sitting in THEIR OWN JUNGLE. XD However what Jenkin said does apply in games where your hero is winning a lane that you're not supposed to, and your hero has a huge massive lead. So huge that you have no idea how to utilize them because there're situations where you're still too underleveled to do anything(e.g. your earthshaker got a blink dagger but still sitting at lv 4/5). But it's true that sometimes being a carry it's not good to farm THAT FAST. Not when your supports/team doesn't have their tools, like levels and items, to execute a proper gank or teamfight. You'll get a better payback to stop farming for half a minute and pay attention to the map.

Ok most of my losing games.. Im the one that would rather group up and then go for kills and farm and push if teammates give space that is ok. But... There is always one or two ruining the game by just wondering into enemy jungle or pushing too far the lane knowing nothing were the enemy is and boom ez gold for enemy. And level... It's frustrating especially when you try to carry your team. I really want to contribute but I can't do it alone even if I carry. If enemy gets a lead because of our guy/s. I can't control his mind. Yes being fast is very bad even worse than being slow.in a very old patch, i used to dominate alche a lot with different heroes, like zeus . Unfortunately, netting all the kills and gold was not beneficial for our team in the long run. They dont have items yet(because we fought and won most of the battles early) , while the "losing" team turtled and actually got farm. Nowadays, since the latest patch and the patch before that, i always make sure to tell my team to just farm and stay close when midgame and lategame comes. Even with aegis, our win is not a sure thing. It is useless to rush things like a pushing zoo lineup when it will cost you your team to get a tower/racks. A good combination of a team with at least 1 carry, and 1 tank with a mixture of stuns and supporters makes going high ground hard even with a 40k networth advantage. We've seen that in a lot of progames actually. The "losing" team can actually defend 2 lanes with no racks/tower and easily makeup the gold lost early.

Its different in lower tiers tho. Winning in lower tier pubs is not a matter of using high level dota tactics. Every tier has its own quirks. If you can get a hold of lower medal accounts from archon legend ancient divine and play a few games. Youll notice stark differences in how the games play. Picture high tier immortal dota but with certain things completely taken out like timings, no such thing as passive play. non stop feeding is present. There is no advanced plays like stalling, cutting waves, pushing out 2 lanes at the same time or holding waves. If you leave 4 they will engage 4v5 and feed. People cant use their spells right. Your expectations of what your teammate can do has to be pretty low and then cut that expectation in half. 90% of the time pos 4/5 and 3 doesnt buy the items they should so as a hc you have to buy stuff like lotus orb (manta is rarely any good cause of circumstances) to save yourself and your terrible teammates. Thats how much you can rely on someone. So that cuts out a lot of non self reliant heroes from your play pool and most of whats said in high lvl guides simply fall flat on its face in shit tier lol.

i disagree a little bit. This only works because he is playing with a pro team that he trusts. He knew exactly what was going on, and that when he decided to go into a teamfight, his team was trained to do some coordinated stuff. If you shutdown your farm waiting for the perfect oportunity on a pub match, it's most likely to be wasting time and contributing to lose the game. What i find more useful to do is to sometimes ignore my team completely if i think they're doing a bad call, and i stay farming like nothing is happening, so when i feel it's the right time, the farm show worthy and i go in. This works a lot of times, because if you ignore the team after they ping and rage at you, they will treat you like you're a complete retard, and play more concentrated, like it's a 4v5, so incredibly, they're less likely to do mistakes while you're out, it's all about psychology. I got your point, just think it works better on pro matches or full groups of friends.

I was able to stand on 5k got hacked the next day after and now I'm trying to get back to it but I'm stuck with noobs in ancient bracket which is really hard, because I get teamed with the worst noobs that picks core and has really bad gameplay, or someone who has used up all their role queue game and is forced to play support and does very a bad job at it, although I understand we aren't perfect and I understand that to the fullest, and it's really frustrating because there are so many noobs who think they can afford to experiment on using cores and turning them to supports because of too much youtube and then blaming it on the core for picking their hero. It's a really sad state.

Ex pro ? what team did u play on and in what year ? care to explain all u shown here is that pro players make better decisions in tf because they factor in cooldowns vision player movement. I have been in bad games where my only use has been baiting fights because for whatever reason I just can't hit a hook that game. And still won. But then do amazing, hit every skill shot, ward, get every item 2 or 3 min early, play the objective, and my team still loses the game. I wish more people stopped to pause and think.

Meanwhile low rank carry dives after support without vision, resulting in 1v5 feed of whole team trying to save him or at least trade, cause, ya know, "pos 2/3 stole my farm so i got to get kills" or some other crap... Dota2 is lowkey about resource management. Same with finances, gaining short-term money but remaining idle (similar to your carry farming creeps/jungle 500 worth of gold then dying) for a longer period is not the best idea. For it costs you and your team more than you actually individually gain.

Bot farmer #ateezy. Seriously jenkins lots of other players and there skills to review. Why just focus on arteezy arteezy. There are so many players out there. Well not a personal grudge or anything but to be honest you can learn more from other players. Or the more skilled players whose skillsets actually needs to be reviewed for the betterment of the low bracket mmr and player perspective mechanism to be able to use that level of iq in the game.

Great video man. I think the title should have been "When should we do nothing in Dota 2", because you talk about a lot more than how to farm. No point of having 900 gpm if you are pushing bot lane during a roshan fight because you got impatient.

My situation is wayyy worse. These hobos are raiding meat shops and throwing eggs at my window begging for shelter. I literally live on the meat shop's basement and it smells like a pig getting fucked by a goat. SEND HELP
