As a South African I like you guy's take on this whole thing. On the coloured thing, "coloured " is a race group in South Africa and it's not a derogatory term to us. It's simply a race group. Some Americans are up in arms over her saying she's coloured but American blacks call themselves the n-word(which is a derogatory term). In South Africa we have 4 major race groups( black, coloured, white and indian). If you ask any black or white South African what is Tyla's race, they would tell you she's coloured. The world is bigger than America. Y'all earned my subscription. This was a really respectful intelligent view on this whole Tyla controversy.

Yes i defended us on every platform. How dare they call it an interview but ask nothing about the song that made her famous. But yes, the Coloured thing was the main question. She disnt go viral for her Couloured-ness. It was her talent, her vibe and that African - ness thats in all of us. And her relate-ability. People have nothing to look forward to and her comes the dreamy Tyla that makes the world want to dance and shake it African style. Its beautiful, black and exciting. Thats where the conversation should be

Race matter should come to an end there is no office to measure one's blood to see they are black or what what. We are all humans, and there is one human race. The world is opening up and people are mixing up. There is no definition of human colours, it's a language of segregation

But it was coined by the apartheid regime. You're mind has been conditioned to accept it as normal, no it's not normal. It's as derogatory as "nigger", which is Spanish for "black". There's no such racial group called "coloured". Ask Anthropologist or sociologists.

I think alot of ppl love Tyla because how confident and glowing her aura is. she's beautiful, talented and it shows.. we are living in a world where ppl are insecure getting all this surgery to feel good about themselves etc. she walks with class, she's not all ratchet and messy, very similar to Rihanna, Aaliyah and Beyonce. A lot of ppl look her and feel bad about themselves.. when it should encourage you to love yourself as she does. alot ppl are afraid to love themselves or love their looks. As a South African coloured I can testify that South African coloureds girls have a realy strict upbringing.Very respectfull with values and principles. Thank you, guys. I'm Coloured. Thank you for a very refreshing take on these 'Tyla episodes'. The people hating on her has no understanding of South African racial classifications, and especially how decent Coloured girls are raised. In our culture we frown upon girls who dance a certain way with men twice her age. Subconsciously, due to her obviously good upbringing, she would not allow herself to go along with what transpired during that episode with Usher, no matter how famous he is. People who don't understand South Africans will never understand. My daughter will just call a man a perv if he does what Usher tried, no matter what he meant by doing what he did. It is just not on in our society. Tyla was actually still respectful, trying to be very diplomatic about it. She must have felt very awkward that moment. The fact that he is famous is nothing compared to her deeply inculcated decency. She was raised well.

We don't hate anyone, we went crazy for Tyler song water. Everybody has there own celebrities they like. She has her own ways. She's not in Africa, she's in america now , your people will cheer you on, just like i love hailey. Its that simply. I think you are the ones with the problem with Americans. If they don't travel, this is on them. Stop worrying about what happen decades ago. Why are people not in their country making their music, you all come here. Look at Rihanna we love her, we love her style, it's 😊like they try to sale Tyler to us.Nobody had a problem when everybody was going crazy for song (water).she needs to start making music people like, something is different about her music, she keep singing water .

😂oh please! If she engaged with Usher, going with the flow, she would have been called names and judged for dancing with someone who could be his dad's age. Usher should know he's no longer 20 , how can he try to act sexy with a 22 year old 😢

People don’t like her because she seems like an industry plant to us. She had a semi hit song and got a questionable Grammy for it. Now we just see this very random girl blow up and we don’t know her or who she is. Some of us don’t like people forced upon us. It’s like they’re making us listen to her or attempting to. That is all. The industry does this so much. She’s beautiful and very talented. But is she really a star ? Questionable.

Love you guys , it's refreshing to hear that not all black americans feels a certain way about Tyla.We are all brothers & sisters. We have been through the same thing as ya'll .Our heritage & culture has been stolen from us through slavery. And i do agree with those thinking that the coloured term is derogatory a I00%.We are the first nation in SA & southern Africa.Do research of the Oldest human race in SA. Before colonization. They took everything from us.The Khoi & San people.Long before the so called whites came here.Even the different black tribes were in different provinces in Africa untill they allmigrated here . They are from Lesotho, Malawi, Limpopo, Swaziland ect .The oldest human race before everyone were colonized. The white regime re classified us in the 1950, as so called coloureds to rob us from our land, heritage, our language & our culture with this derogatory term coloured

AMERICAN IGNORANCE AND ARROGANCE - That's it, that's all! Charlemagne The Moron is another one. Thank you for being fair on the situation. Side note: Usher actually signalled for Tyla to switch places with him. Watch again. Anyway, I'm very proud of Tyla for standing her moral ground and showing great strength of character amidst the hate. She has a great future ahead of her.

As a liberal South African I'm still very concerned by the lyrics to Water. "You aint gotta go nowhere you can stay inside it"... I still love her, I just pray she doesn't go Diddy for the industry.

I must confess that i dont really care for the song at all i do like the piano vibe on it. Ans the African zest in the bum jive called Bacardi. Our sound and dance style is so different, so originally African i love it. Always loved it. All dance from this continent actually. Our very own. I have always described us coloureds as proudly coloured and black (2 things at the same time can be true) Is true.
