The brothers today have asked a very good question. I do not know what God knows. But I do know that Suffering and death is sadly a consequence of sin in this fallen world. And God finds no pleasure in death and suffering, I believe God is Infinitely mercyful and loving. And surely he has a plan and a place for children who leave this life to soon.

Glad you're mentioning the tough examples. Child trafficking and the like. I have been back and forth so many times in trying to have faith. It really is hard to think of God as loving when he personally orchestrasted so much disaster. The bible is full of it. How can all things be possible with God when they clearly are not?

Awesome episode, you guys made so many great points, especially the explanation of redemptive suffering, although I must say it’s probably the hardest argument for a non believer and many badly formed Catholics to accept. May God give meaning to the suffering and pain of all those people who have gone through or are going through suffering and pain and may God help them to find meaning to all their experiences and also have a personal encounter with Him in the midsts of those experiences. I would dare to say that God DIDN’T create evil(absence of good), He created the potentiality of evil, which then later became actualized when Lucifer choose to rebel against God, but even then the natural consequences of evil were limited to Lucifer it’s self, they didn’t impact human beings until Adam and Eve willingly choose to separate themselves from God’s and in turn they opened themselves up to the natural consequences of evil. God actually created human beings in a perfect state of union with Him and free from the natural consequences of evil. We can “blame” God for creating us in the first place but we can’t blame Him for the natural consequences of human behavior.

We know because the law is written on our hearts to love God and love one another. If you aren’t doing that then you are the problem. Our biology is subject to mutations and this affords many different symptoms and differences in body and mind and how we live and think and who we are. Live in service to help others and praise God always. It doesn’t explain everything but I hope it helps you to commune with God through prayer live in hope. May your suffering make your understanding increase of those going through it.

WE (humans) allow children to starve, just like WE killed Christ with our sinful nature. We have the choice to use our resources to feed everyone, just like we had the choice not to betray, torture, and murder Jesus. It's suffering from things like cancer I just don't understand. Asked why we suffer? Great answers, I was thinking cause Our Lord Jesus did, to save us all from sin. Jesus told us pick up our cross as he did and carry it. Just like many martyrs in the past. The over 600 Irishman and a few other Catholic men, that left the US military in the middle of the night. To side with The Mexican military, cause they couldn’t burn down Latin Unity of Mother Church in Texas. Today Irish Patricios are honored in Mexico City. Suffering in church history, but Latin Mass couldn’t be avoided. Faith over ambition of land and fortune was stronger in The Irish Catholic’s and others. Father a wonderful American Irishman. Helping Mexico’s suffering children out. Ehi?? Great show! Viva Cristo Rey!!! 12/19/23. Feliz Navidad.

How can/why does, St Paul say in Colossians “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church” ? It took me some time to process this, and with God’s Grace He has brought me to this. Paul can take joy in His suffering, by putting himself aside; it’s not about him, it’s about the mystical Body of Christ, (which is in need of more holy people and more grace). We can bring souls to Christ who lack grace, whom can receive grace when we offer it to the Cross of Christ. Many Saints took joy in their suffering because it wasn’t about them, it’s a supernatural self giving. When we can see past our own afflictions we began to detach from earthy goods, creatures and even ourselves. By keeping our eyes raised to heaven, and leaning on blind faith and hope, in knowing we were created by-God, FOR-God!!! 1Peter “Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same attitude (for whoever suffers in the flesh has broken with sin)”. How can you break sin through suffering? This can be a way of refining, to detach from vices by turning to God, relying on faith and growing in virtue. Our Faith is absolutely beautiful and how nothing; no joy, no trial, not even suffering can go to waste, when we turn to God!!!

@@cheechak481 - maybe you can ask Saint Paul what he means by that then? Jesus never said we don’t have to suffer. We are to imitate Christ; that means to love like Him, forgive like Him, and even SUFFER like Him. It is a sad fallen world, from Adam & Eve. But the bigger picture is heaven. Can you read my first comment and apply it to yourself and your own suffering? I wish you could ponder it for your own sufferings and pray about it. Sorry I don’t have the answer about children, did you watch the video, they spoke about it? PS I have a disable child myself, whom has gone through a lot of suffering himself. I still keep my eyes on heaven.

@@TNt-vc2xs I don't think st. Paul was speaking about children making up for what was lacking in the suffering of Christ. I believe his words were more directed at the suffering the faithful would have to endure for the sake of their faith. I don't have a problem with that. I sympathize with you and your child. I too have an adult child who has suffered with her disability all her life up to the present day. Pax

It's trendy nowadays to talk about the solidarity of all people it's trendy to notice how the smallest things in our environment affect the world environment as a whole. What we are unwilling to recognize is that because of our connection to each other and to our world, each sin we commit injects poison Into humanity and Because of that even into the physical world. Part of the hideousness of our personal sin is that the innocent are caught up in it. Why does God allow children to suffer? Because they have been caught up in the evil of our personal choices. That's why the sacrament of reconciliation is so much of a gift! We can repent of the evil we've done, and open the door for God stepping in to repair it! People who are "pro-choice"Don't realize The results of their choices. What causes suffering? We do.

It's INCREDIBLY simple why human suffering exists due to evilness of other humans. Because we are given free will. Children starve due to the free will of the ruling class.

From my understanding, the answer to your question is No. The angels were created in the beginning and had their choice, once they chose they were fixed in that. The fallen angles were removed from Gods Grace and the angles who remained entered into the beatific vision. Thats my understanding. In suffering we come to Jesus for mercy. We are reminded by Jesus that need to accept that it is not our will but God's will that will be done. By accepting with humility God's will and expressing thanks for any mercy shown to us, our soul is purified. In His immense suffering on the Cross Jesus thirsted for the salvation of souls. By offering our suffering for the salvation of souls we join with Jesus in His Earthly ministry. The human physical suffering that we experience is what we understand, what we do not understand is how this relates to the salvation of souls and the forgiveness of sin. We do not understand because this consequence is a supernatural consequence. Belief in this consequence is not simply a matter of faith. If it were not true why would the Father send His Son to die on the Cross and why would Jesus endure this painful ordeal? We know that it is true and so we accept the suffering we are asked to endure. They say that Angels envy humans for two things, suffering and the Holy Eucharist. They must see the good that is done through suffering.

The question is a logical fail because it's based on a fiction. The correct way to frame this question is: How can something that exists between my ears and only between my ears allow children to suffer? The question has no answer because the premise of the question is fiction, therefore, the question is fiction and doesn't exist.

You four guys are beating around the bush somewhat, and minimizing the situation by the focus on poverty, free will, original sin etc. and not addressing the big picture and the massive suffering throughout the millennia of mankind and the animal kingdom. God seems to be indifferent to suffering, given natural disasters, tsunamis, tornados, hurricane, earthquakes, volcanic eruption and other natural events plagues etc. that has nothing to do with free will or sin. It takes a lot of theological , spiritual/ philosophical gymnastics to convince people that a loving God exists and is anything but indifferent in these circumstances, without appealing to questionable ancient religious texts , said spiritual gymnastics which are usually steeped high with word salad. In the end there are no reasonably satisfactory answers and we are just expected to accept that God is loving on faith. Why must this creator/entity necessarily be loving and benevolent? It is not very difficult for agnostics and even some atheists to accept that an intelligent Deist creator/entity is possible or even probable.....but given human experience throughout history, the difficulty is convincing people that said entity is anything but indifferent, let alone loving. All the Christian arguments and excuses in the end appeal to the scriptures and the teaching of early church fathers as well relying heavily on questionable private revelation and visions.... free will, original sin, tradition....etc...etc... As Christians we are expected to accept on faith that God is loving, benevolent and not indifferent, despite all the evidence to the contrary. I am still often driven to my knees in prayer in the face of suffering, out of sheer angst and desperation, in the hope that there is a loving God. The main reasons that people believe in a loving God is because we want to believe, since the alternative is too bleak. Fox Mulder on the X-Files, quote: "I want to believe."
