The thing is, if you had proper version control the way software projects need to have, you could just have a list of everywhere anything appears and so updating it would be a matter of going down the list and changing it. That's assuming you don't go the route of maintaining your entire digital catalogue as a database so any changes to an ability or statline automatically propagate through to the app and all digital products.

This is one of the reasons i'm kind of off 40k at the moment. Between the 'rotation' in the game balance forcing us to buy new models every 3 months to be competitive because part of the army got nerfed into oblivion and the garbage monetisation of the rules i'm out for now. Gunna just play TOW.

gw needs to do a better job of converting to USRs & standardization, then use a database for the backend of all digital rules & just change 1 entry in a database to update ALL instances of a given rule/profile/etc

so aos in 2.0 had an app where you could by digital books ($25 each) in it and unlock rules in the list builder. was called Azure or something and it worked really well. thay got rid of it in aos 3.0 and it's been down hill since then.

I decided to get into orks when the new book came out. They were nerfed into unplayable before I even had a game.

Orks are only unplayable if you spammed the ‘meta’ units. 😂

Yeah this is why the whole setup is so ridiculous! Just go digital and make the codex cool collectors items with stories and art work

I love having the books. They are nice to collect. How do you update and log the constant rules changes to the books?
@mrsnakesmrnot84994 ай бұрын
As a long time player, I wish there weren’t changes / updates to books that should have been made correctly / as balanced as possible / no typos, etc. in the first place. Of course, additional rules simply are released as another book, as GW has done with arcane journals. If GW anticipates that it will have screw ups in any of its books, it can include a couple blank pages at the end of an army book or rule book so that people can either write in the errata on these pages or print out the errata that is posted on GW’s site and glue them onto the book’s blank page or simply insert them loosely. I mean, GW just needs to make one great edition of everything the first time. Don’t make the Ten Commandments, and then later say, “Oh, we really should have put ‘Thou shalt not rape or own other people’ in there. Can’t believe we overlooked those two, mate.” 😳

you guys are thinking small when it comes to making $, the path to profit is volume. be a Walmart, sell 10x more digital rules that cost nothing after the initial creation, vs physical books that are very expensive to produce. I used to buy every single codex/rulebok when they were all digital, now I just buy the couple fations I play physical. also people do not want to carry around a bunch heavy books.

I would say that tenure in business does not equate to being immune from criticism, nor is it indeed a measure of consistently knowing what is the right course of action for its customer base. To suggest that consumers should not give feedback or comment on the short comings of a company is muppet like.

@@jizzwizzard123 I don't think anyone is disputing the success of the company, or in fact that their business model isn't generating huge amounts of profit. It is. The point is that it could and should be better to make for a more user friendly experience for the community. Epic Flail aren't alone in this view as "content creators." That said, I'm also perfectly aware that this community isn't currently GWs target market for revenue. Their target market currently (or at least has been in recent years), is parents buying for their kids who will likely either be super casual players or only last for a few years in the hobby. So until that changes or something changes within leadership or it impacts their bottom line it will probably stay the same.
