Omg! “These socks are amazing!”makes it’s return! Love it!! Regarding the sacrificial love protection ending at 17, I just think that when Dumbledore set the charm, he made it so it would break when Harry was of age.

@willsafran885510 ай бұрын

@felicityanne97910 ай бұрын
The sacrificial love is indefinite, that's why using Harry's blood makes the charm live on in voldemort because Harry is 17 when he walks into the forrest at the end. The bond of blood charm dumbledore places on Harry, sealed by Lily's blood relative, is what breaks at 17. They are different forms of protective magic.
@Leviticus_Prime10 ай бұрын
The sacrificial love charm never ends. That's why harry is still able to come back to life even after he comes of age. Because his mother sacrifice is still active within voldemort. But the bond of bloodcharm I think only works until the person comes to adulthood, And is no longer Under the authority of his family. I don't think the spell itself has a definite timeline, It just depends on when the person that it's cast considered an adult. I think if the wisdom world had a different age of maturity, The spell would work until then. I think the spell works until the caster considers the person being cast upon to be an adult.
@AuthorZaraHoffman10 ай бұрын
@@Leviticus_Prime So... I wonder if the Bond of Blood would have stayed in effect if Harry still lived with them beyond him turning 17. Like does the age supercede everything else, or is the importance that he's still living with the blood relative who accepted him into her house?

The Dementors affect Harry mainly due to the 8th piece of Moldymort in him. That's what Harry is experiencing when a Dementor gets near him, he is hearing it from Moldymorts view hence Lily is screaming and he can hear James. Prior to book 3, Harry himself can only remeber a green light.

I believe 17 just happens to be a particularly magical age, where a wizard's magic undergoes some type of drastic change, kinda like a magical puberty. The blood protection thing ends at 17, but it is also when the trace ends on minors. It's definitely not something the ministry can deside to keep doing after the age of 17, otherwise they would have tracked Harry after his birthday, and I would assume the ministry would have a vested interest in knowing where specific spells are being cast all over the country regardless of a magical civil war. It sure would make the work of aurors a lot easier. All of this suggests the trace and the blood protection automatically turn off at age 17 because it simply is such a magically important milestone... for some reason.

It's kinda weird how Harry believes that the spell of the wand will be broken if he dies of natural causes, considering he knows for a fact he doesn't have to die for the wand to be transferred to someone else. If he's in the middle of a duel and he gets disarmed then the wand might choose to change owner. Clearly breaking it is the only way to make sure, so props to the movie for that, but he really should have used it to repair his own old wand before.

Quick clarification for the zombie question that zombies separate from Inferi do indeed exist in Harry Potter canon. They are native to the southern part of America, connecting back to their origins in Haitian folklore, and are described in the book "The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection" on the pre-archive version of Pottermore as being "an example of the Living Dead and may be recognised by its greyish colour and its rotten smell." They're also mentioned in the old Daily Prophet Newsletters by Bloomsbury as being the subject of a "TerrorTour" and as a Boggart form in the screenplay for Crimes of Grindlewald. I guess this also serves to make Quirrell's story even less likely, given that Harry Potter zombies are only known from America and Quirrell claims to have fought one off in Africa.

I’ve read the books and still don’t see the chemistry. She was barely a cameo in the first book. She was super shy in the second, and largely embarrassed at Valentine’s Day. Sure, Harry saves her, but that was more so the “saving people” thing he has, plus she’s Ron’s sister and he and Ron are best friends… at least back then. In the third book, she’s such a minor character she doesn’t get much time with Harry. She doesn’t really hang out or at least talk to him. Four book… she goes with Neville to the Yule Ball and never stood up for him when people called him a cheat (at least not publicly.)(Also, side note: it felt like Ginny and Neville were starting something, or at least managed to enjoy their time at the Yule Ball.) In the fifth book, she takes a back seat to Hermione during the DA lessons and didn’t get more focus until after the Twins left. Sixth book it’s mainly quidditch where they really spend time together, at least alone. The fact that there’s a “beast” inside of him that’s jealous of Ginny being with someone else is too vague to be love and is more like a love potion and jealousy potion (though that’s more headcanon than canon). Seventh book, she’s once again with Neville, leading the DA together and that kind of time alone… it’s more chemistry for them than Harry and Ginny.

@@RedDragonForce2 you missed a few things. Such a Ginny being the only one to come to cheer up Harry when he was worried about being controlled by Voldemort. He had forgotten he didn't usually hang out with her and was jealous of Dean on the train. The next next day, he smelled Ginny's perfume in the scent of the love potion. Brits use Imperial and Metric interchangeably depending on the situation. Ask someone how tall they are or their own weight? Feet, Inchs, Stones and Pounds. Ask them the speed limit? Miles Per Hour. Screen size? Inches. Farm size? Acres. Milk? Pints. But on the whole we use metric for things like DIY when we want to be specific (but will "round" to inches when describing it verbally). Most baking/cooking is done in mlitres and grams. Petrol/Diesel is in Litres however we still refer to MPG which requires some amusing conversions. We run in kilometres but drive in miles. We build skyscrapers in mm but its bolts hold it together in inches. And my personal favourite. Harry Potter money is based off our old currency pre-metric, 12 pennies in a shilling, 20 shillings in a pound. (Pound being a galleon). Our currency was only made metric in 1971 and for several years after many banks/businesses still allowed old currency to be used. JK was 6 when it started and likely around 10 when it ended, meaning her early life memories will have included this old system. Bonus info - for anyone who already did the math, 12 pennies x 20 = 240 pennies = £1 (or 1 "pound"). The reason? 240 silver pennies weighed 1lb. I wouldn't be surprised to find out something similar occurs with Knuts, Sickles and Galleons. A thank you.

Ok so i have a theory about the Dementor issue. The reason that harry is affected even more than say, Neville, whose arguably had equally tragic moments. Is because he's reliving that memory from 2 perspectives. His own where as a baby he is present for the deaths of his parents. As well as the broken piece of Voldimort reliving his spell back firing and turning what he thought to be his moment of triumph to his worst failure so far.

Would Harry still ultimately become the one defeating him or was Snape hearing it the cause for it to become true at the end? So speaking out loud the prophecy already was the cause for it to become real? The ultimate self-fulfilling prophecy :D

The first question led me to think about a question I've had since my first reading of Order of the Phoenix, and I believe I have a theory now! "What was 'My last' as referred to in Dumbledore's Howler to Petunia?" After the Howler, Petunia steadfastly decided Harry had to stay. Why? What if "the bond of blood" spell is similar to the Unbreakable Vow, in that once Petunia accepted Harry into her home after reading Dumbledore's letter, she was bound to her word of allowing him to call her house his home, and if she broke her word, someone dies?
@crashking420710 ай бұрын
I have to disagree with that. As selfish as her and Vernon were, what she was most likely doing was trying to protect herself and her kid and husband. I believe that the first letter Dumbledore gave her explicitly said that as long as she let Harry stay, they would be magically protected from any wizard that wanted to harm them. If they kicked Harry out while Voldemort was alive it would have broken the bond of blood spell and allowed Voldemort to instantly find their house. She understood that they would be tortured for information about Harry's whereabouts, and, knowing nothing, they would be used as bait to lure Harry into a trap. Also, she had no guaranties that Voldemort wouldn't just kill them when they couldn't tell him were Harry was.
@ArnaMalwatkar10 ай бұрын
-> "My last...letter." The one Dubledore left with baby Harry explaining the whole situation. -> Bond of Blood is not similar to the Unbreakable Vow. If Petunia kicked Harry out, the Bond would be broken and Voldemort would find them. That's how they would die.

Theory for you; The protection spell making Harry stay at the Dursley's didn't exist before then as a known charm, instead Dumbledore found a way to anchor the sacrifice protection before it faded, but to make that work he needed to bind it to the existing spell on young wizards that checks for underage magic. So that spell breaking at 17 breaks Dumbledore's charm, or Harry being rejected by petunia or moving out permanently would also break it because it's a fragile spell which shouldn't technically have worked to begin with. Rather than those being intentional limits of the spell.

I have never really given much thought to the fact that Harry gets to see his parents for the first time on Christmas! That’s so sweet! 😭❤️

You guys should do a what if snape adopted harry Video. I think there are three key changes to the story to make that happen. 1; Snape is able to get over his hatred of james, and feels genuine remorse about his past actions that led to his death, instead of the Canon remorse, where he didn't care that James is dead. 2; Snape feels obligated to care for Harry as a way to make amends for the past. 3; Dumbledore is willing to put aside his plan to use the bond of blood, and trusts Snape to protect Harry.

They actually already had a what if video where Harry ended up with Snape for a while. I think it was the what if Dumbledore never took the Invisibility cloak one.

We use a complete mix of imperial & metric measuring systems. Generally, we use metric when talking about volume & imperial when talking about length/height. It’s not as cut & dry as this - it totally depends on the item you are measuring - but it’s a good rule of thumb. 17:52

Seeing as Voldemort took Harrys blood essentially making him a "Love crux" I wonder if Voldemort would have realized this if there was a way for him to reverse it, or if from that point he was doomed to his own usual fate...?
@francoistrempe10 ай бұрын
Quick clarification, for the dementor question, the horrors in Harry's past that causes him to be so affected by the dementors are actually not his own but are from the piece of Voldemort soul, specifically the moment where Voldemorts killing curse rebounded on himself and he suffered without the possibility of dying. Voldemort later describes this moment as being the worst thing anyone could ever live. This is why Harry relives that specific moment each time even though it is something that he does not really remember.
@tobberen10 ай бұрын
I feel like the fact that he had a extra bit of soul in him also is a factor why the dementors go after him so much

I don't often comment but wanted to say, Harry Potter reminds me of Christmas because, at least here in England, either before or after Christmas (I think its the week between Christmas and new years) each night one of the films is played on tv! This was one of the first times I ever watched the Deathly Hallows.

Old people in the UK do still primarily use imperial units rather than metric. A lot of people still use imperial for more personal measurements eg - human body weights (especially babies), human heights, drinking liquids, speed limits are in miles per hour etc

Really enjoyed seeing a Google Autofill again!! Also, liked seeing the unboxing and "these socks are amazing" again as well. I will be honest, these were the main reasons I started watching your channel to start with and was missing them. Hope that you will continue to have these on from time to time.

Love me some Google auto fill. I’d also love it if you kept going with cover reactions for the Harry Potter books. Maybe tie them into each time you start a new book over at Griffin Door to promote that a bit extra? If it’s seems like a daunting task to collect a bunch of covers to react to I’m sure you have plenty of volunteers, including your truly, that would love to help.

When they ask why does Harry drop the "infinity stone", what they really meant was why did he drop the Heart of the Ocean into the water at the end of Titanic.

I know Voldemort is incapable of loving but what if he had raised Harry from a baby instead of trying to kill him? Or since he could not actually touch Harry what if he had made the Malfoys raise Harry to be his apprentice or disciple later.

17:35 it is also because the British themselves haven't full switched away from the imperial system. It is still very common to measure height in feet and inches and to measure weight in stones throughout the UK.

The UK has a complicated relationship with the metric system (especially for someone growing up in the 1960s / 70s). Everyone used Imperial measurements (unless you were a scientist). I still think in miles, feet and inches and then convert.

Did they switch the road signs to metric yet?
@paulhall981110 ай бұрын
Speed and distance signs must be imperial, weight limits are metric only. New (2015+) width, length & height restrictions should display both imperial and metric but older signs can still be imperial@@masterpython

Hey Brother!!! Just love the shirt you are wearing for this video. The art work is fabulous and I like all the indigo blue and indigo purple with the winter scene. On another note, I can truly relate to Harry and his first proper Christmas! Being brought up in a cult, and after leaving it and then finally being able to celebrate the holiday was a big deal. Even though we didnt know what the heck we were doing having a tree and getting up and opening presents was one of my happiest moments. Making our own cards and Christmas cookies and getting to give gifts was amazing. So, watching Harry get the same touched me differently than most. One of the happiest parts of the story for me.

This was a very fun video, thanks for that! Here's my question/video idea: What if Voldemort had waited for harry to die a natural death before coming back? (Would Harry's son have been the one because of some blood related shenanigans? Would neither of them ever die because of the prophecy ?)

I would say Harry's most used spell is protego. Which is kinda awkward because in on a low quality audiobook, with a British accent, it sounds like harry starts every fight by shouting POTATO at his enemies over and over again.

I know it’s just a throwaway movie line, but I love the idea of Neville and Luna. Also, I will always have a soft spot for Wolfstar because it was my first Harry Potter ship and I still partially stand by it. But, the more I think about it the more I think that if two of the Marauders were to b together it would be James and Sirius, AKA: Deerstar.
