Me too or blood cells with oxygen in them (and blood on the outside gets a lot more oxygen) and then the hydrogen peroxide eats away at it and the oxygen molecules are released, creating gas and bubbles.

Hydrogen peroxide also reacts with ear wax. When I was younger my ear was clogged or something of that nature I remember someone had put a few drops to loosen the blockage. I don't really recall who but I do remember the bubbling feeling.I still use it for like a bad itch once and a while, probably shouldn't use it this way but I figure it's better than sticking a q-tip or something in my ear that could actually puncture my drum.

So if you pour hydrogen peroxide down a drain if fizzes as well. Is that because bacteria have that compound in them?

So if I pour hydrogen peroxide on my rinsed and dried tooth brush, is it reacting to molecules of old blood with Catalase that I cannot see?
@chairshoe8111 жыл бұрын
One time i had a huge nosebleed and let it drop into a small cup, then i poured hydrogen peroxide in. It made a giant solid jelly like clump of blood, the reaction gave off heat too, so the clump was like almost uncomfortable to hold. Then I squashed it. That was a fun day.

No the concentration is too low to actually kill you. That doesn't mean you should though. Your body is actually pretty good at breaking down some peroxide but at higher concentrations. The store bought peroxide only has 3%. It's not very much but still not recommended to drink

It shrinks and hardens the affected area. Can stop bleeding among other uses. Not the best thing to treat a cut with, but if you're in desperate need for medical attention, it's definitely the fastest. Also, it can be used to clear wax out of your ears.

Not all bacteria have catalase, but the ones that do will bubble just like our cells. Also, if it was liver and onions night and there was residue in the sink after dumping things in the garbage disposal, I suppose that is likely too.

You said there are "lots of ruptured cells", but I find it hard to believe that. Cells are extremely small. Even with a very very sharp knife, it would be difficult to cut through a cell. They would simply just get out of the way of the knife.
@CDRaff10 жыл бұрын
Your skin is made of cells, how can you have a cut if you can't cut cells?
@--sql10 жыл бұрын
Christopher Raff Cells are extremely small. The sharp part of a knife hitting your cells would be like a bus hitting a crowd of people. The bus doesn't go through the people. The people would go around the bus. That's oversimplified, but hopefully you get the idea. The cut is just the cells separating from one another, not the cells themselves being physically cut in half.
@cakebrin3r10 жыл бұрын
Zantaer Cells can rupture pretty easily when they have peroxide poured over them. Serious note: Cells rupture all the time. When ever you do something as mundane as picking something up cells rupture, is it so hard to believe that a cut can rupture cells?
@--sql10 жыл бұрын
cakebrin3r I just looked it up, and you're right. Cells will rupture due to an osmotic imbalance that peroxide causes. It's called Cytolysis. And cells may rupture due to contact with the knife, but I thought the video made it sound like the knife physically cut through the cells, which is not the case.
@cakebrin3r10 жыл бұрын
Zantaer Well not "cut" them but you know. Cut them. Its not like cells are atoms and the knife is your hands, Cells are pretty big and the atoms at the end of knifes are pretty small so its not like its impossible to cut a cell with something sharp especially when you have such a big target(E.g you)

DON'T USE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE ON CUTS! Abrasions fine, rash fine, anywhere you would WANT to KILL live skin dermis (*painful) to accelerate the process of becoming the top protective layer of dead skin epidermis (*not painful) is fine. When you use peroxide on a cut you kill the edge of the joint you want to GROW together. DEAD TISSUE DOES NOT GROW! This LENGTHENS healing time and increases the chances of scaring or makes the scar more pronounced. *Live skin is NOT supposed to be exposed anytime it is it's painful. The dead skin your body is surrounded with protects the inner layer of live skin
