@@lukecrawford9621 I hear you brother and I have wrestled with similar thoughts. Let me see if I can help you look at it a little differently. 1. God created sex and it's good, beautiful, and pleasing to the Lord when it is experienced within marriage and according to God's plan. Elevating my opinion above God's opinion is idolatry of self and evil. Choosing to reject God is evil. Sinning against God is evil. Marriage is symbolic of God's faithfulness and relationship with us (made in His image), so sex outside of marriage makes a mockery of God's goodness and faithfulness and is very offensive to God... plus their are blessings that we loose and harms to our bodies that we bring on ourselves when we have sex outside of marriage. (The Bible says it affects a man's bones. How? I don't know) 2. True, God allows bad things. He allows us free will choices to reject Him, sin against Him, and sin against others... which harms myself and sometimes lots of other people. God isn't going to force us to love Him like little robots or a software program. He created us in His image and gave us limited autonomous power and decision making ability. If God didn't allow bad things, then that would make God a monster who forces everything. He has the power to step in and save my butt when I totally screw up, and sometimes He does, but He also lovingly allows me to sit in the pile of crap I create (sometimes). God has favorites... true. He loves those who love Him... those who choose Him, and we receive God's favor and blessing. God sees into the future and sees our choices to honor Him and when we give Him the middle finger. And, it is only natural to prematurely love or hate someone who you know will love or hate you. If I know someone is going to betray me in a business venture 5 years in the future, then I'm going to treat him differently today because I already know he's going to "stab me in the back". I don't trust him today because I know what he's going to do. Maybe that's a bad example, but I'll use it for now. It's not evil to love those who you know will love you and generally be loyal and faithful. You serve a God who is more mighty, loving, kind, just, and merciful than we fully know. It's a relationship that truly grows deeper with our experiences together... when we learn more about each other through the tough times. That's when we find out who our true friends are... through the tough times. Do they stick with you or leave you high and dry. Jesus is solid as a rock and has your back through the pain and suffering we endure... even when we let Him down... He's still there... solid. There is no other rendition of God that you could be more proud of. Is this a shocking statement? The devil is very good at poisoning the well and trying to make God look bad. The truth sets you free. Luke is a strong name, and God has many plans and blessings for you!

I am a person who speaks French. But I often like to encourage readers of God's word who speak another language to seek to read and understand how certain words that seem difficult to them to understand how they are translated into other languages. Here this brother talks about the word “Evil” which means “Mal” in French. But here in this text, the word “Evil” is translated as “Adversity or “Trial” in French. So, adversity or trial, God can always allow them, but this does not make God bad, a villain or the author of evil, but he can allow trial or adversity i.e. d difficult times.

The rust and cancer illustrations are useful, thank you. One way to think about evil is that it is a deviation or departure from the good. In Genesis 1 God created and it was good. This assessment is repeated six times, culminating in the 7th statement that all God had made was "very good." Evil doesn't have any substance or existence except as a departure from God's created intent. Aligning with God's will is morally good, rebelling against Him is evil. Isaiah 45:7 isn't saying God creates good and evil like moral flavors chocolate and vanilla, as the speaker in the video explained. The prophet is telling Israel that their future isn't determined by foreign nations or their false gods. Just as God used Babylon to judge them for their unfaithfulness and idolatry, He will also use Cyrus to judge idolatrous Babylon and restore Israel to their land. The bottom line is 45:9... "Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker -- An earthenware vessel among the vessels of earth! Will the clay say to the potter, 'What are you doing?' Or the thing you are making say, 'He has no hands?'" The essential truth is that God will be giving us our performance reviews, not the other way around. Therefore the wise thing to do is to seek Him and make peace with Him, accepting His offer of mercy while it is still available. 1 Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. 4 Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. 5 Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know, and a nation that did not know you shall run to you, because of the LORD your God, and of the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you. 6 “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; 7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. 12 “For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress; instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle; and it shall make a name for the LORD, an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.” -- Isaiah Chapter 55 The "everlasting covenant" (v 3) is the one God has since established by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Trusting in Him is the only wise response to God in view of our guilt.

Calamity isn't a bad thing, for it creates discipline. Being someone who was recently treated for prostate cancer I know this. Like in Hebrews 12:11, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” or James 1:2-4: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” and Proverbs 3:11-12 says, “My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent His rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, as a father the son He delights in.” It enables us to grow, imagine if the world was this soft cushy place where no calamity entered into your life? You would lack discipline, and when hard times truly came, you would be ill prepared.

I understand what Pastor Frank is trying to say, but he’s only half correct. I’m not sure who his audience is. This is the first video I’ve ever seen of what looks to be college students. The Bible is clear. God is the cause of all things. He is sovereign Lord. And either that is always true or He ceases to be God. God does not sin. Either that is always true or He ceases to God. So how can God be sovereign over all things and nothing is out of His control even the evil in the world, and also be a sinless God? A wrong answer is to think God “allows evil”. That would suggest that there is someone that is equal in power and sovereignty to God and has caused evil and has sent it down the corridors of time surprising God as if he was not expecting it and His only alternative is to step aside and allow it. I’ll give 2 quick examples where God is the “ultimate cause of evil” and yet without moral culpability, and of course without sinning. Not only that but in this God never ceases to be perfect and do only good. Genesis 50:20 “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.” The scriptures here clearly involve God in the act of Joseph and his brothers. It does not say that “God allowed it”, but it’s clear that God meant it. This means that God was in full control of this evil and caused it in an ultimate sense for good. But Joseph’s brothers were the proximate and immediate cause and their only reason was for evil. Another example, and what I believe to be the best example of this, is the most extreme sin in the history of the world. The putting to death by crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The perfect Son of God. Acts 2:23 “this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death.” Here we see that Jesus was delivered over by God’s own predetermined plan. God sent His Son to die for believers. That direct action by God the Father was an unmatched demonstration of God’s love John 3:16, and yet the scriptures are clear. God’s plan was carried out by the Jews that hated Christ and He was nailed to the cross by the hands of godless men (the Romans) God did it for our good and men did it for evil. I know this is hard to understand, but as believers, we should never try to rescue God from God. Receive the clarity of scripture and may it always be the cause for us to fall on our face in worship of an awesome God.
@MrSneakSneak7 күн бұрын
I strongly disagree, I see the point you are trying to make about God being in control of the situation. But not once do you mention the role of Lucifer/Satan in this. If God sends evil, and was in control of all "evil" for the greater good, then God caused Adam and Eve to fall. Makes the world to fall into pain and suffering. Causes Himself to die. This is contrary to God's character. Your statement that for evil to exist without God being the author of it, that some equal being has power contesting God. But this is a misdrawn conclusion. God loves us, gives all His creation freedom to choose. Satan chose himself, slanders God by trying to usurp him. All that has happened from the beginning of his rebellion in heaven to now and to the end is his challenge of God's authority with himself. All the worlds beyond us (as mentioned in revelation, the councils of elders, or in Job) that God has created are watching, and have seen Satan be disputed through the display of Jesus's love for us. And for that reason he was willing to die for us. The sanctuary outlined in Exodus is God showing us his heavenly plans for the future. God did not plan rebellion into the intended plan of salvation, that was mankind's choice when it came to the cross. It is written about, however, as God foresees all.
@genuineapbt66907 күн бұрын
@ this is a classic argument of free Will. So you believe in a God that has predetermined some things and has sovereign control of some things, but not all things. This God that you worship stands back and watches history unfold before his eyes and reacts to the freedom of man and Lucifer and everyone else that he has created. That is not the god of the Bible. You are using portions of scripture that you did not quote by the way, you just mentioned the books, for a pre-text to conform to your presupposition. God is either in control of all things, even the fall of man and even the fall of Lucifer. Ask yourself this if Lucifer was in heaven where there was no evil and he was an angel. Where did the evil come from that? He willingly obeyed with pride to assert the position of God.

Or is it impossible for God to allow some degree of freewill in His creation, so that those who would use their God-given freewill against His will are directly, independently and personally responsible for making choices against God's will? It's not impossible for God to make such a scenario and that is the scenario we see throughout the Bible.
@franklinviele23996 күн бұрын
@ free will is used in scripture when discussing offerings and the suggested choosing of choosing good verse evil. None of that has to do with whether or not God chose to make good and evil. He created satan. Satan did not creat himself. He rose up Pharaoh for his own purpose. There is perfect will of God.. Determined will of God.. Permissive will of God.. I’m of the mind set that all 3 are possible and happening simultaneously during our experience. As for our own free fill. (Within my limited understanding..) it’s still a fixed game of ever changing moments and refining. …. If people only knew how this world works and how many spiritual players operate through the flesh as hosts to control the populations it would make their heads come off. We are living real illusions fed by light screens and regurgitated words. Who hath known the mind of God. Levels to this. As much as I know.. I know nothing save Christ crucified. The first mention of Evil was in Genesis in the garden of Eden aka the TREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND * evil*. But we know before that, Lucifer was the angel of praise and jubilation and wanted God's power. And was kicked out. And turned into the devil and evil itself The question is. Did Evil create itself. Where did evil come from? How did it start? But who put the tree there? God did.
@phoenixgamer156514 күн бұрын
God is all-knowing. This means He knows all evil things. However, He is Holy and without sin. Evil originates when we use our free will to do that which is against God's nature. Evil is a lack of moral 'goodness'. There are obvious varying degrees of evil acts. All of them are against God's perfect righteousness. God putting the tree and giving the command to not eat of it is not evil. We had a choice and failed. Yes, God knew we would fail. But, Him knowing we would fail does not make God evil. I would argue, it may have been evil if God sent us all to Hell without any way of salvation. But, God's love and mercy provided us a way through Jesus Christ (God's Word in the flesh) to be reconciled. We made a choice and became spiritually dead. We now have a choice to choose salvation and eternal life.

For example the KJV translation also uses the word "prevent" and it has absolutely nothing to do with preventing. It literally means "go before". There are a lot of places in the KJV that the English used has to be defined because it is not correctly understood hundreds of year after it was completed. Then there are the places where the KJV translators had to make choices. Not all translators agree with all of their choices.

In the Garden of Eden, God created the tree of knowledge of good and evil. When they ate it, despite being forbidden, God said that man knows good and evil- see Genesis 3:22. Before sin, God knew what sin was- that murder, adultery, lying, etc. are wrong. Adam and Eve, in paradise, did not. They did know after sinning. It is true, God is the source of all evil. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. Isaiah 45:7 And also Amos. The Lord simply states the truth, which is what He has done from the beginning when He formed the light, and created life. God is the source of all evil, but He is not the cause of it. It is with His life alone that all people live, for we have none of our own -"In him we live, and move, and have our being." Acts 17:28. Every motion that is made, every thought, every word, requires the exercise of power; but the power is not inherent in the person that moves, it comes from God, for "There is no power but of God." Rom. 13:1. The truth is that "he giveth to all life and breath, and all things;" Acts 17:26 But the Lord does not rule in the heart of wicked men. The power which is given to men to fight and blaspheme God, and to commit all sorts of wickedness, is simply the power of God perverted, just as the performance of righteous acts, and the utterance of praise is God's power given free course. God gives *ALL* power unto *ALL* men, what men do with that power is their choice.

Isaiah Chap. 45. Summer succeeds spring, and winter, summer; and as (chap, 43) Jacob (spring) was called, and (chap, 44) Israel (summer) was chosen; so, in orderly sequence, may we look with, certainty in this chapter for a description of winter, the third and last season of the ancient year. The Lord had gradually strengthened (the cold came on by degrees) the right hand of his anointed Cyrus (the Sun in winter), that by him he might subdue (literally, tread down) the nations before him. He next loosens the loins (see in your almanac if Libra don't point to the loins) of kings (the zodiacal constellations), in order to open the "two leaved" gates (fall equinox), which shall not be shut during Cyrus' reign, i.e., during the coming winter. The Lord (Sun) goes before, and breaks down the brazen gates and cuts the bars of iron (the baser metals symbolize winter); he gives treasures of darkness and hidden riches (the winter stores - Pluto, or winter, was the god of riches), that Cyrus might know that he (the Lord) was the God (Elohi- Ram-Sun) of Israel, i.e., that he might know that all these riches were the product of the summer season. In verse 4, the Lord passes from Jacob (spring) to Israel (summer) and thence to Cyrus (winter), whom he surnamed by his presence as he had Israel before him (44. 5), Cyrus being unaware of the fact, saying, " I am the Lord, without me, there are no Gods " (Elohim = Ram-Suns), i.'e., remove the "Suns" as at the fall equinox, and only "Ram" (El) would remain in place of Elohim. Rejoice then, i.e., the Sun and Aries, as at the spring equinox, and the Elohim are restored; so that plainly, without the Lord or Sun, there can be no Elohim, Hence the Lord says, "I girded (embraced) thee that they (the people) might know from the rising of the Sun and from the west," i.e., during the winter, "that there is none besides me." Having thus penned his position, the Lord (Sun) confidently exclaims: "I am the Lord, and there is none else" (vs. 6). The Ram (Aries) being on the opposite side of the Earth in the night hemisphere, the Elohim were no- where! O ye theologians, ever given to disputations, but never to science, who, like the dog in the fable, catch at the shadow and lose the substance, when will ye cease to delude and cheat an ignorant people? "I (the Sun) form the light and create darkness; I make peace (summer), and create evil (winter). I, the Lord (Sun) do all these things" (vs. 7). Having first created peace (summer) and lastly evil (winter), the Lord sends down rain, for with winter the rainy season begins, from the skies that the seed just sown may germinate and produce a crop, and through it salvation (v. 8). Winter having fairly set in, the Lord denounces the cold, blustering and rainy days, calling them "potsherds" a word, says Gesenius, " put for anything mean and contemptible," such as winter was ever esteemed by the suffering poor. Nevertheless, as winter is the offspring of summer, the latter is not to be blamed (vs. 9). Parents cannot help what their children may be (v. 10).

Be careful and do not make false analogies, fellow Christians. Light is a thing in itself. Correct. Darkness is the absence of light. Correct Good is a thing in itself. Correct And now, get ready for it.... Evil is NOT the absence of Good, but the opposition to it. The possibility of there being an 'other' is essential for there to be Free Will. For example: Love is the intention and action to advance the condition of felicity of another person, place or thing. For there to be Love, there must be the opportunity and potential to NOT love. Therefore, to merely be Neutral about a person, place or thing is neither love nor hate; it is neither good nor evil. To be proactive... to have not only the intention but to act upon it... and advance the condition of felicity of another is GOOD. To be deliberately malign... to have not only the intention but to enact that intention to cause harm to another is EVIL. To be Indifferent... to not care, when in the face of suffering when one has the power to alleviate that suffering, is EVIL ... Because one has the power and opportunity to stop the suffering, but CHOOSES not to enact love. When Isaiah has it that God creates ''evil'' the translation is at fault. The word translated as ''evil'' should be given as ''calamity''. Or, better, 'unappealing conditions'. God did NOT create EVIL. He created the opportunity to make free choices.

Another reason you know that the word evil isn't really a good translation is if you look at the other examples provided in that. God is showing contrasts. Light and darkness are opposed to each other. Are peace and evil opposed to each other? No, of course not. You can have an evil peace based on forceful suppression. So you know that whatever the word for evil is, it *needs* to be opposed to peace. Calamity or chaos or strife are opposed to peace, so they are better translations.

Regarding Isaiah 45:7 (KJV), the problem is in the question given from the man, because the answer is already given from God in his whole counsel of his word when we study it as he commands us to do. Whenever someone says, “some translations say”, or “a better way to say this is”, then what you have is unbelief from that person in all of God’s promises. What do I mean? I mean that the Bible buffet cafeteria Christians know not at what they stumble, but evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. Therefore, we are to walk circumspectly, that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive. God’s inspiration of his word is of no value to us without his preservation of his word. He knows this. He holds us accountable to all his revealed word to us he inspired and he preserved. Modern version bibles do not honor this and are corrupt from their root. We know what Jesus says about corrupt root and corrupt fruit and being lukewarm in our way of faith in him. If one promise is broken then God lied, is not righteous, has sinned, and cannot save. Think before you doubt him and pray on any unbelief in you. In Isaiah 45:7 in our King James Bible view the context not just the verse. God is speaking of his unmatched omnipotence and his omnipresence and his omniscience. God contrasts his limitless powers shown to his finite creation. In this finite realm, in verse 7, we see there what we understand within our time and space limited existence, whereby, there can be no light if there is no darkness to contrast it, and there can be no peace if there is no evil to contrast it. When we are with God beyond this finite, the contrast will be removed. No sun, no darkness, only light. No evil, only peace. As John by inspiration of the Holy Spirit tells us, then beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. Pray. Trust God’s word, searching it, and let scripture interpret scripture. You will find the word of God preserved as he promised in English in the King James Bible. Believe in all of God’s promises and praise him for them.

That's not as great of a response as Turek seems to think it is; and I'll explain why. If one adheres to the notion that Creation was perfect, then it wouldn't lack anything. If evil is the "lack" of goodness, and Creation was perfect, from whence did this "lack" of goodness orginate? *Maybe Free Will Is the Origin of Evil?* The typical answer is that God created beings with free will, and evil emerged when these beings chose to deviate from God's perfect will. The idea is that free will is a necessary component of a perfect creation, as it allows for genuine love, obedience, and moral responsibility. _The Problem:_ If the beings were created perfect, including their wills, why would they choose to deviate? A perfect will would naturally choose what is good, so the introduction of a “lack” of goodness still seems unaccounted for in this explanation. *Maybe Evil Is a Consequence, Not a Creation?* Some argue that evil is the byproduct of finite creatures’ limited understanding or ability to perfectly actualize goodness. In this view, the "lack" of goodness arises not because of an intrinsic flaw in Creation, but because finite beings cannot fully reflect God's infinite perfection. _The Problem:_ If God intentionally created finite beings, knowing they would lack perfect goodness, can we still call that a "perfect" creation? This seems to undermine the notion of a flawless design. *Maybe Evil Is a Necessity for the Greater Good?* Another response is that the presence of evil-or the potential for it-is necessary to allow for the greater good, such as the development of virtue, redemption, and the ultimate fulfillment of God’s plan. _The Problem:_ This implies that perfection requires imperfection to achieve its ultimate purpose, which is contradictory. It also makes evil seem like an intentional part of God's plan, which challenges the idea of God’s moral perfection. *Maybe Evil Is a Mystery or Paradox* Some theologians acknowledge that the origin of evil in a perfect creation is a profound mystery that defies human understanding. They argue that attempting to fully resolve this paradox is beyond our epistemic limits. _The Weakness:_ While this might preserve the mystery of God, it doesn’t satisfy the logical issue at hand, and it risks appearing like an intellectual retreat. This critique strikes at the heart of the issue: if perfection entails completeness and the absence of deficiencies, the emergence of evil as a “lack” of goodness remains unexplained. This tension calls into question whether the claim of a perfect creation is coherent or whether our understanding of perfection needs to be reexamined.

I had a sneaking suspicion that the response would be "but this translation says this, not this". I'm a Christian myself, so make of that what you will, but I almost always see this with practically every last biblical passage someone has questions about. Like literally almost all of them..."it just a translation mistake, it actually means". Meanwhile, the Bible they themselves view as the "most accurate" is the one that says these kinds of things. It boils down to them following the "most accurate" Bible until they get questioned, then it's "well let's use another Bible for this specific meaning". Or they'll switch between Aramaic, Greek, Hebrew, and other languages when it comes to words and translations for whichever sounds the least questionable. This is why I side eye most religious speakers, because there's always a lazy explain-away whenever something of contention is proposed, which doesn't get us any closer to the truth.

I like using the analogy of a house that is destroyed by arson. It is an evil act to destroy a house by arson. However, that evil act could only be possible by building the house in the first place. Building the house is an act of good in itself, and so, evil can be seen as a negation of that which is good; evil does not exist by itself but is instead the destruction of that which is good. God made all of creation in the beginning and declared it to be "good", and so, perhaps the greatest evil of all is trying to destroy all which God has created; of trying to "undo" creation.
