Although this is true for most dogs, dogs with human-like hair, like poodles, need to be bathed more often and it is less harmful for them. A good baseline way to keep your double coated fur dogs clean is a brush blowout of all that trapped dirty shed fur.

100% brushing is very good for keeping smells down as well. But the coats with hair should still not be washed often, they actually do better with less bathing

Great video! I've always found that my dog gets just as clean with a good rinse as he does with shampoo (well, sometimes the dog stink doesn't quite go away). I'd love to see a video on how to teach the difference between a strict and a more optional command for the same thing in the future!

Thank you Kristin for this interesting information. I have never bathed my Border Collie because I thought it is not natural to do so, and I never understood why others do it. Thank you for confirming my opinion. My dog does not smell bad at all, and if he rolls in nasty things I only wash up that bit that smells or I brush it out.

What if they get fleas. Down here in Texas in the summer time I have that problem. I resort to flea shampoo

Thank you so much! I feel like I hear a lot of different information about how often you should bathe your dog, but we have had our street dog for a year and not felt a need to bathe her yet. She hates bathrooms and water, but we have been able to wash off any dirt with wet towels so far, and I cannot decide when it is time to bathe her, because it doesn't seem like she needs it. She smells a little bit like dog and like a fresh lawn (she loves to roll in fresh grass), and it is really no problem, but I keep feeling like I should be bathing her to be a good dog owner.

Once a year ! Wow ... my dog loves to roll around in dead animals, she’s loves to stink ! I don’t bathe her too often, unless of course she does that and she visits the groomer 3 to 4 times a year.. poodle / shih tzu mix

I have to second others. Although my girl Luna doesn't smell, I would love to know of some whole food recipes to give her. There's too much info on the Internet... I don't know where to start. Right now she eats a good quality kibble diet, treats with boiled chicken and other meat, and loves her fruit but I'd love to expand on this. 😊 ...I actually had no idea that diet and the smell of a dog are linked. Makes perfect sense.

Not specifically a site compared to much research from Dr Karen Becker, Rodney Habib and Jean Dodds Nutrigenomics book. However I am currently filming my recipes that I do, raw and cooked food for people to follow safely. These videos will also show the vitamins and supplements I use. So keep tuned!

Hi, love your videos. What about haircuts? I live in a very hot place and I get my dog's hair cut at least every 2 months or else she gets hot really easily.

Depends on the dogs breed and coat type. Most dogs should not be shaved, we think it cools them down but in actuality we expose their skin to the sun and makes them hotter. Doodles or other dogs with hair that grows constantly, needs to be trimmed or shaven , but most double coated dogs should not be shaved. You can find other ways to cool them down by giving them a cool dirt hole to lay in, cooling mat to lay on in the home, ice cubes to nibble on.
