F*** me dude, had this issue just now 17.01.2024! reciever (bought a razer blackshark v2 pro really cheap for the office) was plugged in near an USB SSD drive, which has a very short cable, so basically the reciever and USB drive were lying right beside each other) just moved the USB 2.4 GHz reciever to the other side of the notebook (with USB extension cable . but still used the same USB port!) - Problem gone! I just came across the video tonight after buying two headsets. First the Stealth 600 Turtle Beach and then returned for refund due to random disconnections. I then got the Corsair HS70 headset and that did the same until I moved it into the USB 2.0 slots instead of the 3.0 slots at the front of the PC. Great video and I appreciate you sharing the the why. I landed here due to having issues with wireless gamepads disconnecting. I'm a software engineer and was too lazy to really get into directly finding an answer as I was sure someone else should have it scouted and explained, and possibly solved. The problem, as the Intel paper references it, basically suggests that if you have any USB 3.0 devices at all, there's an interference risk - hard drive or not.For me, that's a problem because I probably have 10+ USB devices connected in some way to my PC with 2 hubs (one 7 port), and none of them are external hard drives so...? Honestly knowing this information is great because I can judge what shifting I want to do, or just give up on any wireless device. Or maybe Use some sort of crazy extension to pull those dongles as far away from anything USB 3.0 as possible (which is pretty impossible to do these days). Also, I feel like .5A out of USB 2.0 should be plenty for a tiny wireless receiver (not even a transmitter). I don't think that's why your range cut in half.

That is absolutely what I needed to hear. I don’t use an external hard drive on my laptop but I have my cooling pad hooked into a usb next to my wireless transmitter. Sounds like I just need to do some tweaking of what gets plugged into where. Thank you!!
@Maraksot783 жыл бұрын
If you're using a laptop and on wifi it's also possible your laptops wifi could be interfering with your headsets wireless signal. It's possible the USB port your headsets wireless dongle is connected to is too close to the wireless adapter in the computer which would also cause interference on the 2.4GHz band.
@vilhjalmrjrgenson81193 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that advice too. I’ve got three USB’s on the left side of the laptop. It seems that the one closest to me is the safe bet. The other wires are the charge cable for the headset (when needed) and the power cable for the cooling pad. The extra usb on the cooling pad goes to my Bluetooth mouse charging cable (when needed). When I set it up this specific way it seems the headset works best. Once in a great while I hear the audio crackle in the “attempt” to disconnect but it doesn’t all the way. It’s frustrating since ALL of my equipment is less than 3 weeks old lol.
@vilhjalmrjrgenson81193 жыл бұрын
If I’m connected to a 5ghz signal does it still broadcast a 2.4ghz signal?
@Maraksot783 жыл бұрын
You have a bluetooth mouse you say? Bluetooth operates at 2.45GHz so it's possible that could be causing some interference. I'm not sure if connecting to a 5GHz wifi network would be a problem or not. I'm thinking it would not cause interference since it's on a different frequency but I'm not 100% sure about that. I'd have to do some research and learn more about that.

Thank you so much for this info! I recently bought an afterglow wireless headset for my xbox and it would keep disconnecting. I also have a 500 GB USB plugged in. After watching this video, my headset works PERFECTLY!

How'd you fix it?
@dankswange81096 жыл бұрын
@@HupertBupkin My xbox has two USB ports in the back and one on the side, so I plugged my headset USB into the back and the storage USB in on the side.

Thank you for this. It wasn't a hard drive for me... but this pointed me in the right direction. I realized that for my particular headset conflicts when the Bluetooth is turned on for my laptop. hope this helps someone out.

I had a similar problem, but with a *wired* usb headset. When I would stop one sound source and start another (for example switching from one youtube video to another yourtube video) the headset would cut out for a few seconds. I noticed also that sometimes during those few seconds the sound would come out of my speakers for maybe 2 seconds. It was as if the machine, when stopping and starting sound, took a few seconds to decide which audio device to use. At any rate, I realized that I have both USB3 and USB2 ports on my machine. When I switched the headset from a USB3 port to a USB2 port, the problem went away. Very probably *not* related to the same reason for your issue, but your video helped me nonetheless. I'm guessing my problem was because the headset (Plantronics PLNAUDIO478) is USB2 (or even USB1?) Anyway, I've been trying to solve this problem for months and your video finally gave me the idea to try USB2. Thanks.

This guy solved my issue. SOLVED " razer blackshark v2 pro wireless " I followed another video sugesting a driver issue and un install drivers and download a driver software that instals the latest drivers... worthless. this guys suggested and educated me. THE extra power from other USD ports and it sharing other devices on same usb lines is the issue. moved the bluetooth plug to a differant slot thats on the front of PC and NOT a single issue since..... ALSO i can moce twice as far away from the PC as before and NO disconecting. Cheers
