Fun fact! Blue Pikmin are actually coded to be more likely to die than other Pikmin in Pikmin 2 specifically. That's because most enemies have a "death cap" on their attacks to make sure that, for example a single bite from a bulborb doesn't kill a full team. If too many Pikmin are in the hit box the first Pikmin to loaded into the level will die first, and when you're in a cave, the blue Pikmin are always the first to load in

Let's talk about their use in the games. In Pikmin 1 you only need them after the Forest Navel. Yes there is a Ship Part in the Landing Site you need them for, but the point remains. The gate you knock down in the Meadow does nothing. You just need to throw Pikmin onto a ledge and hope the Bulborb stays asleep while Olimar walks around. In 2 they get immunity to a new Blowhog, and are only needed to grab things in water that have no land route. You also have Submerged Castle, but you want to max out on Bulbmin with how OP they are. 3 makes things worse as Blues are only useful if the goal is Water Only. Pinks can get things and go over water. Blues aren't very useful, and they don't really get anything. Even Yellows have multiple enemies they have an advantage over.

In pikmin 2 I always felt that yellow where the most useless with only the anode beetle and dweevil being the only electric enemie and they can easily be handled by any pikmin with no real danger. The also don't realy have any zone where you need them to explore. You open a few gates, pick up maybe 2 high placed treasures and then you can store them in their onion until the final boss

@@pickk90 In 2 Electricity is an instant kill. Yes you can deal with Anode Beetles without them, but it's easier with them. With most treasures there is a dry way to move them. Plus Yellows are good for Airborne Enemies such as the Snitch Bugs, Puffy and Withering Blowhogs and the Dirigibug. They can be high enough you miss normally. At least that's been my experience. You obviously had no trouble, so it may be a skill issue for me.

Blue was given the character trope associated with sad characters or characters that always end up in harms way or are clumsy. Just like Red would be the more bold and aggressive one. Yellow maybe being more on the curious side. The way blue's mouths are prime them for that kind of role. That's just " D: " and it looks cute in a "Poor little thing" kind of way.
