I wore my coop trucker hat today and for the first time someone knew what it was. Got to chat about a ton of nerd stuff and I’m bringing them some jade shrimp this weekend. Came home and cleaned a tank with Cory like the old days. Good day.

Do any of you ever feel nostalgic about vintage aquarium equipment? When I was 3 or 4, I was first attracted to fish stores because of the colorful moving aeration ornaments. I still have a soft place in my heart for the old box filters and UG filters, anything that reminds me of first wading into this wonderful hobby so many decades ago. ❤

Was looking a pictures of new warehouse you have come a long ways since those first live shows. Where I watched you on my PC going to say maybe 2013 or 14 when Hank was still around and before the old 300 let go in the front of the store. I love the fighting over food in the fish hobby . It reminds me so much of arguments over what is the best diet Adkins , weight watchers , Mediterranean etc , lol! In the meantime , there’s our fishes wild cousins scrounging for every calorie they can get whether it’s a rotting corpse, or a dead tree that fell in the water during a storm . 😅

I took my drift wood out of my Nano tank and it helped a lot! Kept making it cloudy and I followed all the steps of soaking and boiling.. And It just kept making my tank foggy. Took it out after hearing you speak on different water and things in the tank. It’s already clearing up.

Good Sir, I have a 75 gallon and a 10 gallon that are both planted. I used Miracle grow soil as a base with a cap of Sea Sand and crushed corals. 2 years later, they both maintain about 7.6 ph. Community tanks

I have lived in Miami for 54 years my tap water and aquarium are always the same. I moved to Costa Rica during the Pandemic and it never happened to me before the pH raised during Nitrogen Cycling from pH 6.6 tap water and 2 weeks later raised pH 7.6 to aquarium water. Why? Okay for Betta?

I would use live plants and change water sparringly. Over time the ph will creep down. Then just change water to maintain the ph you'd like to keep it at.

Ich X should be just fine to use. If you don't have live plants you can use Salt as well as livebearers tend to handle it well.

I don't have an issue with ph crashing, I have an issue with ph climbing.

Test your tap water. fill a glass and put an air stone in it. Wait 24 hours, then test it again. If it went up, that would explain it. Otherwise maybe you have crushed coral or another type of rock in your aquarium raising it.
